    Pattaya going down?

About to finish an over 6 months vacation in Pattaya, no doubt that the future is not bright for western guys. Of cause there will always be an excessive supply of providers but the type of tourists visiting the Holy City should worry most of us. The hordes of russians, by their sheer number only comparable to those of Dschingis Kahn are very unpleasant, they are mostly coming in couples or families, why can't these people just travel to Bulgaria or Turkey to get drunk? Chinese come in busloads, move in huge flocks. Indians worry me when I seem them hunting in packs (like they do in their homecountry) , make you really concerned for their prey and are certainly those who are most noisy on hotel floors as they use to communicate by shouting also in the middle of the night. All this seems to get worse from year to year and is certainly no good sign for the future.

I've been looking at foreign retirement destinations for a while now. I live in the USA. Depending on your priorities there are options other than Thailand. If mongering is a high priority, Thailand is tough to beat. At this time it's where I'm planning to retire. Pattaya would not be my first choice, but I believe many guys would be very happy there. When I'm ready to make the move I plan to spend a few months in each of several different locations before I plant permanent roots.

Perhaps when I'm much older I'll no longer be interested in mongering. Then I might move somewhere closer to my children and grandchildren. Actually I hope I never lose my interest in mongering. I had a friend whose uncle had a severe heart attack. His doctor told him to give up sex. When he was released from the hospital he walked to his girlfriend's apartment, walked up several flights of stairs, started to have sex with her and died. My friend was certain his uncle planned to end it that way.

You just don't see that many 20-22 year-olds these days. However, the established workers are NOT exiting in droves, and they're always the vast majority, and this leads many people to an impression that the scene is stable.

One thing I'm 100% sure about is that Sukhumwit and Pattaya Beach Road freelancer scenes pretty much took a nosedive compared to 5 years ago, let alone earlier times. Most sex workers these days are hardened pros, and finding low-mileage part-timers with a day job (or university students) is almost impossible. And it was somewhat common in the good old times.
Yep, definitely shrinking and deteriorating from my recent observations. Pattaya is nothing but a shadow of its former self. I predict P4P in Thailand will no longer be worth the expense or horrendous travel to get there in a few short years!

Hello Dad, this is exactly what I want to hear. I will be there next year for a conference. I assume that some of those choices include slim and busty? (. V.)

Did you mean evolving or are these little dizzier than ever?

But short time stay pleasure is what most here need, not wait and see. You guys that live there are different now. Like Sherlock Holmes you look at everything with a different eye and see things that visitors don't.

Why haven't you re-started an expat thread to share that perspective?

    Paradise in Pattaya

To all of you on this forum who believe that Thailand in general and Pattaya in particular is going downhill; that the quantity and quality of the talent is diminishing; that the mongering scene is not as good as it used to be; (I've heard a lot of that sentiment lately here.)

let me just say that I've been living here six years now and this past year has been the best year of them all in terms of pure enjoyment of Thailand and Pattaya as a place to retire.

Last night I visited one of my favorite go-go bars, Baccara on Walking Street, and noted that the quality and looks of the girls has never been better. It just keeps getting better and better every year. I saw several absolute stunners downstairs and attractive new girls are coming all the time. It's like a conveyer belt full of lovely young girls that never ends and all of them can be had. Upstairs you'll find scores of young, cute and petite girl next door types that are particularly appealing to my tastes.

It's the same situation at all the Happy group of go-go's. Happy's lineup has improved vastly over prior years and there are dozens of pretty young girls to look and or bar fine, your choice. Beach Club is now far better than it ever was before. The place has been totally redone and the girls are outstanding. I like the Happy group bars because they have reasonably priced happy hours every night all year long from 8-9:30pm, and the bar fines, at 700 baht are still less than many other lower quality bars. As an older guy, I get a lot of enjoyment just watching the pretty girls. I don't have to be rutting them every single day like a sex starved tourist.

As far as overall mongering opportunities are concerned, I've not even scratched the surface of this town. Hell, I've not even been to all the joints on Walking Street, let alone the rest of what Pattaya has to offer. There are thousands of available hookers in all categories and price ranges from Jomtien to Naklua, Beach Road to the Dark Side, and all venues in-between. It's a cornucopia of pussy and new talent is arriving by the bus and trainload every single day.

I've observed several very attractive hookers hanging out on Walking Street who will go with you for less than half of what the Go-go girls want. Beach Road still boasts lots of skanks but you'll be surprised at how many young cuties can be found with a little effort. It's the same with Soi 6 and the beer bars; nice girls can be had for less than at the go-go's.

Then you have several choices of soapies, oilies, hole in the wall massage shops everywhere and BJ bars as well, some of which have decent looking experienced talent and new arrivals constantly. There is no way to partake of them all as there are just way too many mind boggling choices.

The weather has been beautiful this high season. The food is unbeatable anywhere and the prices, while rising over the last few years are far more reasonable than at any other comparable mongering or retirement destination on planet earth. I bought a nice high rise condo overlooking Jomtien Beach where I can watch the sun set every evening over the sea. I love it here and am living the good life on a lot less money that most people would ever think possible. As far as I'm concerned, Thailand and Pattaya are paradise on earth.

Now, of course, it hasn't been all honey and roses since I've been here, but none of the substantive problems I've had in Pattaya were caused by the Thai people. A fast lesson was learned, however, about the need to choose your friends carefully. There are all sorts of farang lowlifes to be found here that will turn on you like a viper at the slightest provocation. Aside from that one unnerving experience, life has been good for me here and I'm glad that I chose Thailand as my retirement home.

If any of you know of a better place to park, be sure to let us in on it, but for now I'm satisfied right where I am.

    Regards, Daddy

Also thai girls in the north are now more and more educated and have many other options for working than going to bars in Pattaya. And this has led to the quantity and the quality of the girls there going down. And the age maybe +10 years higher. So bad development for mongers?
Sounds about right. IMHO, Pattaya is a shadow of its former self. I predict within a few short years, it will not be worth the expense and trek to come out here for mongers.

Hell yes. I was there in November 2013 and it's still paradise / heaven on Earth and far surpasses every other monger destination I've visited. And in November Beach Road promenade still had a free lancer practically next to every palm tree at the peak of the evening.

Since nobody keeps any official statistics, it is all guess-work. Over the many years of visiting Thailand, I did not see any significant long term change, but my experience is of course anecdotal. It looks there is more day-to-day change than long term change. You can compare it with weather and climate change: arctic storms in New York don't mean there is no global warming and the warm winter now in Europe doesn't prove there is global warming.

Some bars and clubs improve, other places decline. Your experience will be colored by the places you visited.

You beat me to it Rj. Whenever I tell someone that I live in Thailand they say,"What's there?" And later on in the discussion refer to it as Taiwan. This has happened countless times. I think that because GettingTang has gotten used to being on the inside then he assumes that everyone on the outside knows what is going on in the inside too. That is far from the case.

A few months ago I was getting to know a woman who lives in my home city. One day out of the blue, she says I talked to my gay friend and now I know why you live in Thailand. I asked why. She said because you like those men who are dressed as women. I haven't said a word to her since. So because many ladyboys are in Thailand and I live in Thailand, her and her gay friend's common sense led them to believe... If that was the fucking case then there are a lot of ladyboys in my home city as well. Who would even need to go all the way to Thailand.
