I stayed at the Orchid Inn in March 2014. I chose it because I wanted a long pool. It turned out to be only 48 feet, not that long, but ok for a half hour of laps.
The place has a pleasant atmosphere, low buildings, relaxed feel. It is not very polished. Walking through the corridors (e. G. From the reception to the pool area) feels a lot like going to the toilet in an English pub, low ceilings, yellowed paint, brick tiles, a slight smell of decades of parties (beer, cigarettes). As others have noted there is some noise from the big building project next door. But it is only during the daytime and didn't bother me.
It is nice to be in the annex at the back, on a narrow, intimate, leafy lane. You can cross back into the main complex across the lane or via a walking bridge on the second floor. Rooms need a new stroke of paint. There were big mirrors at the end of the bed, not optimally placed but possible to admire oneself if one were at the end of the bed. There was a resident cockroach in my bathroom. The cleaning staff were great."You want four fresh towels every day? No problem." There is a guard at the doorway to the annex. Every time a girl leaves he calls up the room to check that everything is ok. When I brought in my fourth girl on one day he gave me a smile and thumbs up.
Most of the guests seem to be 50-70 year old guys who do not exercise a lot, some of them with seemingly steady Pinoy wives / girlfriends, some also with children.
I also dropped by Wild Orchid, which is on Blow Row / Santos Street, also 100 metres from the densest part of Fields Ave. Walking street part. It was a bit more expensive and seemed like a nicer hotel. Worth it if you have the cash. I noted the discussion here on the forum a while ago about whether it is worth impressing the girls with a fancy hotel and room. Personally I think it can be nice to bring her back to a nice place.

Before the "revamp", I stayed in a very large room near the pool. It had three beds so it may have been the "family room". Even if it has not been remodeled. 1700 (current suite price) is a good price for a large room and a place with a pool. The pictures do show that they've made some improvements, but the photography of the rooms leads a lot to be desired.
THis place is out on perimeter. I think it's around the corner from the gas / petrol station (Petronas?). I would not recommend the smaller rooms (at least not before the revamp). X.

Overall I like Queens but somehow don't find the beds very comfortable. There are considerably cheaper places in AC that have much better ones, like the Boomerang up on Perimeter. But what I'm really looking forward to is the new Central Park, which looks almost finished. Knowing the old staff there, I think they might immediately become the best choice down at the Fields end of town.

Posts: 4567You seem like a nice enough guy. But, WTF? Rtff.
Penthouse glass has been reported. I cringe as well, but the reality, there is no reason for her to admire your fat, balding, old, wrinkly body sitting on the throne. It is you who would probably press your face and / or camera to the class while she takes a little whiz.
An excellent review of Q was reported by the guy who showed great modesty by saying,"sorry if I sound like a dck.". I subsequently posted some pictures of the hotel. X.

Posts: 5Hotel Perthgarden ex Hana Hotel
Hello members,
Planning my trip for this summer to AC. Times are tough right now so I am trying to spend less on accomodation and getting cheaper flight to splurge more on girls, meals and girls. As long as I get a decent sized room, clean and with adequate ammenities then I will be happy to forgo the luxury of the LGH where I have stayed on my past visits.
I hear the old Hana hotel has had a revamp and is now called the Perth Garden Hotel. Had a look at their website (perthgardenhotel. Com) and and would be interested in their suite room, very cheap at 1700. Discounted, for cash payment.
Does anyone have any recent experience with the hotel under new managment?
Did read back some pages and searched the thread but could not find any info about Perthgarden Hotel.

Hey Key master. Great report! Just a quick question. Does the bathroom area not even have a curtain that pulls down. I mean damn what if you got to do the do and theres a hottie lying on your bed. I am extremely particular when it comes to bathrooms so I guess I will give pentehouse a miss. Is queens as convienient in terms of location wise.

Posts: 546Just some comments in regards to recent hotel mentions
I just wanted to give some of my impressions of the Penthouse and Queen's Hotel since I just stayed there.
The Penthouse looks very nice from the outside and in the lobby. I didn't think the room setup was all that. I don't think there was a lot of thought on how they were going to set up the rooms, but it is what is for now. The lighting in the bathroom was ridiculous. You could barely see in the mirror if you wanted to shave yourself. The bathroom has no wall separating the bedroom. It is clear glass. Then you have a shower with a clear glass door and a toilet with a clear glass door. All visible from the bed. There was no light in the toilet area if you wanted to read. The switches were confusing as hell in regards to the lights. The bed was very comfortable so kudos to that. The hot water and shower were excellent. The television seemed kind of small for the distance from bed to tv. Waits for elevators can be a little long at times. I think they made a mistake putting their offices up on the top floor as it's just going to cause more wear and tear on the elevators faster and hog them up. What bothered me mostly is that the rooms are not quiet on the Santos side. I'm a light sleeper, but even if I weren't, there's no denying that there is a lot of trike noise that comes thru those windows. The blackout curtains are very good though. I figure the best side will eventually be on the side where Central Park is or was depending on what they name it in regards to noise once the construction is done. I don't think this hotel will hold up well over time. The people working were all polite. The internet in the room worked fine. There was not one chair in the whole room unless you count the toilet. There was no table to sit at, no desk.
I am with Pip in a lot of ways on Queen's. It's great if you are a light sleeper at least on the pool side that I slept on. I doubt the front is real loud either as it's not a big traffic area. The bed was not so good as Penthouse, but it was still nice. The bathroom was fantastic. It was well lit and great hot water. The internet was fine also. They have a modest gym in the hotel with mainly cardio equipment and some free weights along with some type of universal system. It's better than nothing and good enough to get some work in if you are too lazy to go to an actual gym. The restaurant is excellent if you are looking for fine dining. They have offerings of dishes you normally would not see in a restaurant there. They have different menus for breakfast lunch and dinner. They have cheaper local food on offer for some of your acquaintances you choose to take there but you have to ask them about it as it wasn't on the menu a month or so ago. Dinner is the most expensive there. The food was excellent. The chef is the owner and he is there all the time I believe right now so quality remains high for now. I don't think the restaurant is 24 hours. Maybe it closes around 1 or 2 am. The finish work is obviously better than that of Penthouse. The elevators are real funky. The people working there were very nice also.
If noise and modesty like private time in the toilet aren't an issue for you, then Penthouse is fine. I personally like to sit in a chair at a table or desk once in awhile to eat or work on my laptop. I don't like eating on my bed. For my tastes, Queen's was very nice. The location is right there also. Very easy. I think the real test on how this hotel thing shakes out is when the old Central Park opens. They are going to have so many rooms.

Great hotel my favorite. Rooftop bar and restaurant, weight room, and elegant facilities. Centrally located. Check for the Agoda specials.

Posts: 4567I never stayed at CP. I should add that the front rooms of Valentino's looks out at a massive construction project. I did like the mirrors at V's.
My policy is to review any 'n all hotels. As long as it isn't my fav. I'm selfish that way. LOL.
But PJ has let the cat out of the bag, so I'll add some pictures. My pics of are of the cheapest room, which doesn't include the black chairs and/or sofas. It was a bit under 3k. As PJ says, the restaurant has some great, despite expensive, food: Italian with a bit of Hawaii fusion. I did like the restaurant at the old location, where the chef came out and had a chat with me about his move to a new hotel. I won't repeat the name of the hotel. Rtff (didn't I say I'm selfish?) X.
