The hostess bars aren't really "point and click" meat markets. Customers have to try to build some kind of rapport with the girls before they will go out. There are some exceptions, but it's usually the least attractive ones. Cyrcee is the exception and it's pretty easy to get staff out of Island too. I just wanted to preface this by saying that this is my own experiences, I speak vietnamese and I have lived in Vietnam for 6 yrs, I have only been here 3 times 1 month each time I was here in 2009, 2011, and now.

This week I had a opportunity to try out these three places.

HOD I was there at 10pm when it was dead and then revisited it at 12 when it was picking up, not sure when it will be filled with freelancers but when is was there I only saw prob 5-6, and they where slim possibly decent body, but too old for me being closer to 30 than 20, plus not sure if it was gay night but it was filled with gay kymer men and plump ngo type girls.

I then went to Casa, this place is more like viet style disco, with girls avail for hostessing and from my observations and enquires, available for takeout, cost is 60usd St and 100usd LT. Its filled with malaysian Chinese. Admittedly the quality of the girls here much higher than the expat bars. But also the pricing is double or triple. Considering I took a cute viet ST for 15 dollars who told me she used to work at Casa charging 60st, I think its not advisable to pay 4times the price. The girls here are all under 30. More 18-24yr range.

Darling darling. This place full of better looking girls than the bar. Generally the quality of the better looking bar girls on average, ages early 20's to late 20's. My unbargained price enquirey was 100usd st 150lt, I had heard that some have got girls for 50usd LT, but I think that would only apply to the plain girls / hungrier girls or you would have to wait to the early morning where a 3-4am pick up isn't really long time anymore.

I also went to Shanghai bar, the quality of girls isn't great if only that they hire slim girls. I was sitting and joking with them I didn't buy any lady drinks as I didn't fancy any. And then a barang came in and he was swamped by 5-6 girls, I asked the other girls left there who he is, she said she doesn't know just that he buys lots of drinks, I'm not so sure I'd be happy known as the guy who has to buy drinks to get attention.

You can still find some massage girls who will offer hand action, especially if you get the nude oil massage and get obviously aroused during the proceedings. They seem to start at 20 or even 25 dollars, and some won't budge. I wouldn't go more than 10. This is becoming rarer than in the past though. Some of the massage shop owners strictly enforce the no hanky panky rule. Most of the massage places around W at Phnom are now totally clean.

The barbershops are spread out. Those on Kampuchea Krom are only a few. You can get a VIP room for a few bucks. There are some in other parts of the city where the staff is all big breasted and dressed in skimpy outfits and miniskirts. You can sometimes negotiate dates after the fact if you are sly about it. I haven't found anything in the places themselves but more than a few locals assure me that it happens.

Same with the Vietnamese Karaokes on 118, 136 and a few other places. I know girls are available if you ask the right people. I know Khmer guys who assure me they have met these girls and had action with them, though I wasn't in a position to push them for exacts.

Regular KTVs all around town on the other hand are easy to negotiate. There are hundreds of them. Get a girl, get a room, drink and sing a little. If you click you can negotiate going out. Some want money, some want love. I've been in dozens of these places, on my own and with Khmer friends. If you show up on a moto you will have less luck. They like guys with trucks. Some KTVs offer "massage" right in the building and you know what that means.

Top Ten's best girl is probably Akeang, tall thin half-Viet with amazing tits. I've been with her though she can appear cold she's great where she needs to be. You have to go up to her and many of the others there. Be aware that I've had girls there and other places tell me or others they don't barfine only to see them do exactly that days or weeks later.

Mao Bar gets a lot of Chinese business guys. No rule that locals get first dibs. I've seen it go the other way too. And Khmer guys usually don't go to the hostess bars, which are pretty much for foreigners. That's not only at Mao but anywhere. Bar girls typically go over to their longest standing customers first, even if they're already with another customer when they show up. Some guys get upset about it. I don't. It's part of the game. Marry the girl or pay her a monthly salary to stop working if you don't like it. Many guys do. Mao has a decent staff. I can probably guess the girl you're talking about, light skinned Vietnamese who was raised in Phnom Penh but speaks pretty good English. A hard nut to crack. There are some other decent girls in their, including one air head who can barely tie her shoes but has a set of jugs to die for. That's not the easiest bar to take girls out of by any means.

Still waiting for someone to fill me in on the massage at the barber across from Cyrcee. So many reports of action but I keep getting left high and dry. What gives?

Sunday I was in the 130 street, sharkies which is terrible now, looked at loco, then looked in 136 street, best 136 bar. 136 bar, sizzler Lemon Oasis.

In the daytime I was very bored. Checked out candy bar. Avoid, also walkabout. Bad. And Golden Sooya mall. At 5pm, didn't see any freelancers.

I remember someone asked about these places, I can confirm that the barbar shops just offer haircuts wash hair etc, also the girls not attractive. I got a hairwash for 2dollars. The ktv on 118 st is just that karaoke, no girls available. The KTV on 49street I see offer girls but I haven't figured out pricing structure yet.

Updates and observations feb 2014.

I was told bar Top Ten was one of the better ones, the first time I went there was a very attractive taller girl, but she was like ice queen so didn't call her over as I expected her to be " uncooperative". Yesterday I decided to test my assumption, and true to my guess, she doesn't barfine, he name is Srey Mao. 26yr old def the best looker in the bar, has worked there for 2 yrs but within 1month of working was sponsored by a 38yr old American of questionable work practice. There are 3 pharmacies north of Phsar Thmey, on St 136. I buy mine at any one of these, out of habit. There are at least 5 more pharmacies along this stretch.

Used to buy Kamagra at $1. 50- $1. 70 for a pack of 4 x 100mg tabs but it seems it is no longer on the market so I switched to Aurogra, works fine just the same, for $1. 50. There are also the Kamagra gel, for about $2. 00 for 1 sachet (100mg) equivalent to 1 x 100mg tab. Also available are the generic Cialis, can't remember the names but it invariably ends with. Lis. Costs slightly more than the Aurogra (also for a box of 4 x 20mg).

Viagra sold at some larger pharmacies like U-Care retails for about $8 (4 x 100mg) , if I remember correctly. The generics works just as well, unless you own some Pfizer shares.

For some reason there are all kinds of generic Indian Viagra available. Names like silagra, penagra etc. All works well. 4 x 100 MG costs $2-$4 depending on the pharmacy. Yes, you can negotiate if you are buying a lot.

Initially I bought for $3 a pack in one pharmacy only to find out next pharmacy is selling for $2. So next day I went back there and bought lots of it.

A word of caution. Do not buy nicely packaged Viagra tablets in Phi. They are fake although looks exactly like the original. Generic Indian Viagra is not available in PHI for some reason. Fortunately nobody is making fake copies of generic Indian Viagra. Kamagra is not widely available anymore as it looks like their sales are down. They used to be very popular one time including their jelly version.

Recently spent a few days in Phnom Phen. Had a couple of opps to monger. Visited Cyrcee on Street 49 one evening. 20 or so girls available. I picked one. Called Trainee?
