Go to China in September, or not?

I have rtff, but I still wonder what do you guys think about the situation a bit further ahead. I was planning a first time trip to Changping, Dongguan and Danshui, Huizhou and possible other places in South China for September. Should I call it off? I am seasoned mongerer in other Asian countries, but in China I have only been a regular tourist before. I am adventurous to try some new places, that's all.

It really all boils down to who you trust and how much risk you are ready to take on.

I was with a BBS gal and was just enjoying myself when a her telephone rang. And it was her mommy. I naturally asked her if she's still taking bookings from mommies and if she wasn't worried about going to hotel rooms to do it. This pretty little thing then told me that her mommy assured her that room checks are now NOT being carried out any longer. I asked her how can she be so sure and if there had been an actual announcement that such checks will no longer be carried out, and of course the question stumped her. I guess she just chose to believe this as her immediate cash needs over rides any concerns.

The new Miraton Hotel construction is still going full blast whilst the Apartments across the YiHao has stopped; All sorts of shops are being fitted out now whilst others are now being shuttered; girls and mongers are still coming back to Chang Ping whilst others got disillusioned and are leaving. Each party have their own reasons for doing so and I would suggest that you also make up your own mind. They say that the greater the risk, the greater the reward. But is the reward so tantalizing? Lets face it, the way things are right now in Chang Ping, I'd think that other places should give you higher rewards coupled with a lot less risk. And in weighing your options, I'd also suggest that you need to examine the real motives of those who continue to promote the idea of coming over right now.

And OH, on a slightly more optimistic note, NOT true that the PZL gals not allowed to go beyond hands and feet; shoulder and thigh massage is still part of the package and according to my techinician, has been OK to do all along since they re-opened. The only thing not allowed now is the provision of shorts for customers to change into and to have one's thighs across any part of her body whilst she's massaging you. Woo Hoo! LOL.

Poor poor Chang Ping. Au revoir!

Afraid I really don't have much encouraging news to relay about our favorite Hamlet.

Soon as I arrived in town, I saw a gal get her bag snatched by a bicyclist right outside Hui Mei hotel in broad daylight, but I wasn't going to let that spoil my mood and right away called one of my "friends" to come over. Had a pretty good time, but it was tempered by the fact that she's just about to give up and leave Chang Ping for good in the near future. And this seems to be the recurring theme that I get confronted with the whole evening. Various people all just about ready to pack it all in and never coming back.

Met up with a LCC clothing sales girls and a couple ex-YiHao KTV girls. One a model and the other just a regular. For dinner at 6000 and the place was only a third full. And this is on a Friday Night at 7:30 when previously one would most likely need to wait for a table; but there you have it. Only a third full.

The model and the clothing sales girl are leaving Sunday for ZhongShan to work in a factory. What? A Factory? Seriously? Yeah seriously! The model figures that with housing and food provided, she'll be able to make upwards of RMB 3,000 take home and even though she'll need to work at hard labour, she figures this is probably better than just sitting around in Chang Ping with no customers and nothing to do. Plus the fact that she won't need to sell her body anymore, and of course NOT have to worry about being thrown in jail if caught doing so! And oh, the drinking part, which she hates but was forced to do so previously night after night.

Off to 85 for coffee and again, unlike even just a couple weeks ago when it was still all packed, tonight it was so easy to get a table as the place was not busy at all. Bumped into another couple old friends, a YiHao Footsy girl and a real estate agent and the both look like fish out of water. Footsy girl tells me that she's everyday just sitting around in her hotel provided dormitory. Grateful that she still has a roof over her head and company provided meals to eat; but plenty worried as she worries about how long this will last as she's been doing precisely this = nothing = for the past month! And look at what happened to the girls from HTML . Who actually got thrown out and kept out by guards and were not even paid what they were owed in salaries etc.

Real Estate agent hadn't had any business at all for God knows how long (period prior to CNY was also bad for realtors) and about ready to go off to somewhere else, anywhere else, to find work.

And the streets? I feel that there's way less people walking about tonight. A couple weeks ago, there were still lots of people out and about. Girls chattering away, seemingly enjoying themselves with their bit of free time, couples strolling etc. In contrast, tonight I saw so much fewer people and those out there are I perceive mostly just real locals going about their business. Very few girls, pimps, horny mongers etc which were still quite abundant even just a couple weeks ago. And oh yeah, the beggars are back!

The prevailing mood here seems to be that of abject / dejected resignation. Unlike even just a couple weeks ago when I felt that many were still quite confident that things will turn around, tonight I feel that more and more here now realizes that the good times are NOT going to return to Chang Ping.

Sorry state of affairs in our old adult Disneyland.

    Tally Ho!

Depends on your budget really. Good $$$ places would be pullman hotel, royal lagoon. Good $ places would 7 days inn and the horse logo inn. The inns have no amenities but the room is comfy and clean.

Current situation in houjie is. Most massage places are opened. Not sure for happy endings. KTV's are open, if their are girls, they are (suppose to be) forbidden to do anything with the customer other than drinking and dancing.

Of course you can find fun in Guangzhou but in CP is much easier. Thanks, will definitely look for an update!

I'm a bit disappointed as this was to be my first trip to DG / CP after hearing so much about it. I was in Shenzhen before and thought the scene there was lacking (although I didn't have a crew to go KTV with). Been in Beijing and Shanghai before back in the day, and it was so-so (though my first FFM was in Shanghai, LOL. I speak Chinese and when I went in I pretended not to speak, so the two girls were just gossiping among themselves, very interesting to be a fly on the wall!)

Part of this now is whether I should bother to get my visa to China, or save the couple hundred and put it towards fun in HK / Macau.

    Wìll it be okay?

    Gents,

I have read comments from Luke and totally understand Dongguan business industry facing now and many people emplorment status in the ditch for good. I had a plan to do the maiden trip to Dongguan Changping in may this year. I have done many times visiting Bangkok and must admit that Bangkok mongering is very easy even for the newbie. I feel disappointed because I won't have the opportunity to C. P. Mongering scenes regarding KTV and Sauna. I think the C. P. Adult entertainments will be shut down for a long time or even never reopen again.

    2 Out Of 5 Ain't Bad; LOL

'In Dongguan, two out of five people will lose their jobs if the situation doesn't return to normal, ' said Lin Yadong, a club manager, who wore a blue scarf and stiletto boots. '

So the 'prestigious' New York Times quotes a club manager for statistics of the impact on employment for the whole of Dongguan (an industrial city of more than 9 million people).

What wonderful investigative reporting! The rest of the article is just as amateurish. But I suppose many people who have never learnt to be discerning in the analysis of news will believe this so-called report.

Interesting that the NYT reporter (and some people here) , never even mentions, let alone discuss and analyse, the real reasons behind the 'strike-hard' campaign. These reasons have been well-documented and publicised by the government for the last 15 months. The sex industry is just collateral damage.

    Sex, food, money

People, both men and women, need sex like they need food. Life will go on.

Prostitutes and pimps will do their business in smaller, more discreet and more nimble venues underground, harder for LE to prosecute.

With this massive strike hard and the resultant upheaval of life in Dongguan, local guy was estimating 2 out of 5 people would lose their jobs. A lot of people will be hungry and angry at the government.

This is typical struggle between the distant central government in Beijing, who wants to uphold the letter and spirit of the laws, against local governments who have to live, eat, work and fornicate with their local population, whose lives are not always just black and white.

In my opinion, Beijing did not give enough fair warnings over the years before ordering the massive strike closing down all entertainment venues this year. Over the last 2 decades, China's central and local governments turned their blind eyes, allowing Dongguan to invest and build up its infrastructure and to develop its sophisticated industry dedicated to selling sex. Everyone in the country knows what's going on in Dongguan. Now the government abruptly changes its policy, causing extreme hardships for large population of poor young families. Meanwhile the big fish have means to survive the crack down and will likely find ways to prosper with the new sets of rules.

I would argue that abrupt changes in policies and harsh enforcement of rules or laws are bad parenting as well as bad governing. It will not eliminate or reduce crimes, but will more likely breed discontent, disloyalty and cause local instability.

As have been known in the West, harsh punishments are not effective in reducing or deterring crimes, but consistent, just, fair and transparent enforcement of the laws, coupled with patient education and positive incentives, work better to convince the population to have respect for the laws and loyalty to the government entrusted with their enforcement.

It takes patient and hard work at grass-root level, not centrally-enforced broad strokes, that can positively improve the lifestyle and culture of the population in the long run.

Evolution is always safer, surer, more effective and less pains than revolution at implementing changes.
