My tips to improve the odds in Sosua (cannot speak for other locations) :

    1) Avoid "the Strip" by night. That area attracts all the scum of the island, and a lot of scum from abroad.

    2) Choose haitianas rather than dominicanas.

    3) If you have to drink, do it by daylight.

    4) Have as little contact with Dominicans as possible. There are many decent Dominicans in the DR, but not many in Sosua.
This is good advice. I would avoid drinking altogether as it can only cloud your judgment, though if this is your only route to sexual ecstasy, then I guess you have no choice.

There are plenty of decent Dominicans in Sosua, however you will tend to find them in places like hospitals, clinics, schools, gymnasiums, pharmacies, dentist offices, banks, churches, and so on and not in places frequented by mongers like chica bars, chica-friendly hotels (as knocking-shops are quaintly referred to) , casinos, massage establishments, police stations, etc. Also a significant percentage of taxi drivers are religious types who play gospel music in their cars and display religious insignia in their vehicles.

A good risk management strategy as regards the popular crowded bars where fights seem to break out is to reduce your actual time there by entering, finding a girl, and taking her somewhere else fairly quickly and by avoiding these places very late at night. 11:00 pm is better than 1:00 a. M. As people get progressively drunker and / or more desperate.

Having said that, I have been in places like Classico disco and D'Latino's more times than I know, but have never seen a fight or a violent incident. Then again, I don't stay longer than necessary.

    Revere

I read that story about a year ago with the tall cop from NY, sad story. It gets even more crazy when you hear what happened in Cabarette with the phone.

Here is a story that I personally was involved in years ago: I was sitting at 4 Roses at 2am waiting on a waitress to get off work. I saw the police go running into Europa hotel and since I was staying there decided to see what was going on. Earlier in the day I had met these 4 Jacksonville state troopers and we were drinking in the back part of Europa by the jacuzzi. My lady was with me as we drank and her father is a Puerto Plata cop. Anyway when I see the cops run into Europa I go and see the DR cops questioning this Jacksonville cop. They take his passport and said they will investigate and left.

The guy comes and sits down next to me at 4 Roses and tells his story. He was in Classicos and he went to dance with this girl on the floor. The girls lesbian lover came out of nowhere and attacked the cop, leaving a gash under his eye from her finger nail. The cop decides to leave and when he gets to the bottom stairs of Classicos the lesbian jumps from the top stairs like a ninja warrior at the cop. He nailed her with a right and knocked her out then left and they found him at Europa.

As me and the guy sat at 4 Roses I felt sorry for him. I called the girls father and told him to meet me at the Sosua station because my friend was in trouble. At the station the Father explained that they were both cops and should be able to work it out now. He explained that the cop had a gash under his eye and was attempting to leave the scene when he was attacked again. He told the two cops to"settle it". I told my friend to be polite and slide the cop a couple 1k red notes but he only had one and a 500p note. He came out the room with a relieved look on his face and his passport.

I told him to stay out of Classicos and he became a late night hangout partner at 4 Roses with me. The girl I was banging at 4 Roses knew she was only a sometime late night option for me but she also had options. One of the other Jacksonville cops asked if he could make a move on my 4 Roses girl. I said she makes her own moves so go for it. The next afternoon we were all partying again at Europas jacuzzi, me and my girl and the cops and the 4 Roses girl. Homeboy fell in love with my 4 Roses girl and retired her from Sosua, oh well.

    I would have payed too!

What the NY cop should have done was offer the dirty police an extra 500 bucks to beat the shit out of the guy who swung the beer bottle at him! If that didn't work, I would have paid a Haitian to do it.

First, get out of Sosua. Better yet get off the North coast, too many people with nothing to do but watch and plot. Hit SD or Santiago, big cities where people have agendas besides hustling a gringo. You must know Spanish, not knowing Spanish makes you an instant target and limits your options. In SD and Santiago use cabanas, never take girls to your gated apartment unless its your main girl. Don't fuck with Dominican dudes unless they have major status to get your ass out of trouble. Just having the card of a high ranking officer who is your friend can keep you from being hassled by low ranking Dominicanos.

Never meet a chicas family, too personal. Also the hands for charity will come from all angles when the family locks in. Never answer personal questions with anyone. Develop a Dominican dress. Jeans, loafer shoes, shirt tucked and belt to match your shoes. Don't become a regular at Dominican spots late at night. The big cities have movies, baseball games and a zoo. Don't become a gringo who gets drunk and chases pussy all day. Pussy is everywhere in the DR and easy to get, but doing normal shit to blend in is an art.

    Interesting Story from DR News

    Cabarete.

Because I sit at a bar all night, four nights a week, I get to meet a lot of interesting people and hear some really crazy stories. Absurd stories. Funny stories. Bizarre stories. I thought I would share some of these stories.

This past Saturday I took my usual spot at the corner of the bar where I could gaze out over the ocean and scan for any topless females as well as keep an eye on the waitresses. I'm always fascinated by Domincian waitresses. I'm amazed at just how much they can sit around and talk about each other's hair while simultaneously gossiping about the latest sexual debauchery taking place among the staff.

Sitting directly across from me was a 6'6 African American New York city cop. I introduced myself and we started talking about some American football and basketball games coming on TV later. Sitting on the bar, directly in front of him, was a new Samsung Note 3 phone and a 10-inch Samsung tablet. I asked to look at them. The phone was huge but extremely thin, with an amazing screen. He had just bought them recently in New York and I think just the phone alone cost $700.

The cop and I spent 5 hours talking at the bar. He was there when I came into work at 4:30pm, and he was still there at 11:00pm. During the night, he ate, and then I ate. He ate again, and then I ate again. He drank beer throughout, and I drank coffee. 5 hours later I was flying on a caffeine buzz. He couldn't drink anymore beer. I thought, Fck it, and drank another coffee.

Several girls came throughout the night and sat to his left, and then to his right, and then across from him—all trying to make eye contact with him and get his attention. He is good looking, extremely well built. 6'6, about 215lbs, and with a fantastic, easy going demeanor. He laughs easily, and is constantly smiling. He looked like Denzel Washington. The waitresses began staring at him and more than a few were smitten with him. I was smitten with him. He was damn good looking and strong.

After sharing stories with him for a few hours, he told me a crazy story of what happened to him last year in Sosua at the bar Classico. He was standing inside; standing at one end of the bar, drinking and watching the girls parade around him in high heels that were three sizes too small and twisting their ankles. An African American walked in briskly and stood next to him. This cop towers over everyone. This guy started making small talk with the cop. It turns out that he too was from New York. A few minutes later, a group of Dominican men walked in and were searching for the African American who was standing next to the cop. They approached both men. They assumed the cop was friends with this guy. This guy had had some altercation outside with these men, but the cop did not know this.

One of the Dominicans grabbed a beer bottle and swung it at the cop. Glass hurts. The cop leaned back—avoiding the glass. Glass cuts. He grabbed the man and put him in a headlock. Headlocks hurt. Meanwhile, people were jumping on the cop trying to get him off. Security came rushing inside. The cop told him that he would release the guy as soon as everyone stepped back. Everyone stepped back. He released him. He was asked to come to the police station. He did. At the police station he was told that he would have to pay for the guys injuries. The guy had cut his hand on some glass on the floor. The cop asked, 'Why should I pay when it was him who swung the bottle at me? ' Wrong question. Never attempt logic with Dominicans. He refused to pay and was locked up.

The next day, he was transferred to Puerto Plata jail. There, they told him that he would need to pay $7000 US dollars if he wanted the charges dropped and to get out of jail. He refused. They left and came back a few hours later and said they would settle for $5000 US dollars. He refused again. They told him it could be a month before his court date came up.

Meanwhile, his friends were urging him to pay and be done with it. He refused. But then, he saw a group of Haitians in the corner of the jail cell, they were washing their clothes—pants, shirts, socks—with a quarter inch bar of soap and a small water balloon of water. It wasn't enough water to even get one sock wet, and yet, here they were, washing their clothes with it.

The cop stood there watching this. He started thinking about this possibility of spending a month in jail. He called for the captain. He told him he wanted to negotiate. The police smiled. They went to an office and started negotiating back and forth and settled on $2500 U. S dollars to have the charges dropped and get released. When he gave them the money, they were seated in some office. There was a lawyer there and some more cops. Right in front of the New York cop, they started to distribute the money to each other. They had no shame. They counted the money and started dividing the money amongst themselves. Afterwards, the cop was free to go.

Part 2 will be about what happened to his Samsung phone and Samsung Tablet.

PS. I don't have time to re-read through all of this and make spelling corrections. These stories will all be unedited.

Dude, no need for an apology of any sort.

Maybe I should apologize of the way the post sounded. I was just wondering what was going through your mind when you handed the clown your hard earned "play with the chicas" money.

Hell, you just paid 10 bucks to enter the country.

We all know you are a seasoned veteran; no worries.

Great report Camaro. I like how you say the Dominican is like a girlfriend you are dating but don't want to get serious with. Sosua is great, but it definitely throws a lot of curves at you, like closures of CMP and Passions, and the unpredictability of the chicas. All in all, though its still a great short term mongering destination of the western hemipshere.

    Hi Mr G.

When did the JR burn down?

My mind goes back to he / she Naomi being murdered and the owner of the Casa Valeria, where I stayed a few times, being robbed and hurt.

A lot goes on in Sosua for such a small town.
