Prostitution might not be technically illegal, but it might as well be. It is illegal to aid in prostitution which includes being a pimp, introducing someone for prostitution or providing housing when you know that it will be used in the act of prostitution.

Many girls have gone to prison for prostitution, but that is not what they are charged with. There is a catch-all crime called "dangerousness" which they used against people doing things they don't like even if its not technically illegal under another law. The rule of thumb is that if a girl is caught three times in what appears to be solicitation (this is based on only what the police say and can actually just be an innocent conversation on the street) they will be sent to prison for 2 years under dangerousness. This is a lot more common than you might imagine although they have focused more on the girls in the hard-core discos more so in recent years. Most discos now have under-cover cops that watch the girls to see which ones are actively trying to pick up tourists.

Never considered the option of getting a bank account in another country. I'm wondering how easy it is to do. A Canadian issued CC is doable, but is a bank account?

I have to agree with Mr Gogo on this one.

As a Canadian and after meeting tons of Europeans and Mexicans in my trips to Cuba (actually I've only met one American, a student from Duke who was super cool and had plenty of fun as a gay dude on the Malecon), We really see it as a blessing that Americans can not go easily to Cuba. In a way it is what gives Cuba its uniqueness. Of course its selfishness from our part cause right now Canadians, Italians and Germans are making a killing over there and know that has soon as the Americans join in we won't shine as much LOL.

I've travelled a bit and like Mr Gogo said it is the safest I've felt anywhere. The tourist is king and is always right. When Fidel and Raul die then Cuba will be all yours my yankee friends.

Until then I will do like my other 2 million fellow Canadians and enjoy this paradise island where the women would be known as the most beautiful of the world if they had the means to take more care of themselves.

With an average monthly salary of 25 CUC (more or less 25 CAN) all of you understand the fake nails or hair are a luxury.

It's definitely the safest monger venue in the W. Hemisphere. Also, as a serious fan of Afro-Latin music and dance, it's the Motherland. BUT, I waste a couple days having to go through a 3rd country. And I have to bring a lot of cash, since I can't use ATMs. My last visit in January, I brought down about $2 k. And that was only for only 9 or 10 days. Not an ideal set of circumstances for us EEUUs.

Wish I had a 2nd passport and / or that I could access cash somehow down there. It would be my destination of choice.

You guys are absolutely right. If and when it opens up for EEUUs, it would be spoiled in short time.

I am not surprised with the passionate sex you've encountered in Cuba. I am surprised you were separating from the good casa setup you had! It sounds like you had an owner presenting you with lots of non-pro regulars. Are mainly into pros?

I'm a fickle guy like that. As I travel the world I have a tendency to not be predictable. I'm also a guy that over-thinks everything. I've learned the less people know about me the better, so I have no problem going solo.

My regular casa is cool but the whole neighborhood was watching and I wanted to start somewhere fresh in a new spot. I cruised through the old casa to take some gifts I brought and explain to the casa owner that I was wifed up in Mirramar.

But yeah I like mostly pros with an occasion non pro. I like being able to seperate my feelings when it's time to leave. Women say I can be cold but I don't trust any women outside of my Family.

The DR is a better bang for the buck but the Dominican women are hit and miss. Plus you can never really trust a Dominicana, and don't get me talking about the corrupt police and politicians. Cuba is being preserved for a limited time and I'm going to enjoy it completely while its still pure.

I always wanted to go to Cuba before the floodgates open. I guess I will put it on my to do list for next year.

From a punter's perspective, Cuba is awesome, as the women are absolutely gorgeous and sexy. Its sad that most Americans never meet Cuban women. In addition to the look, they've got the dance moves, and the overall intangible Latino "passion." I don't know what else to call it. Next to them, DR women don't even rate. It's an entirely different league.

Unfortunately, its bad for the girl. Someone who has never been to Cuba doesn't realize just how untouchable tourists are, especially Americans. The govt really wants that US hard currency. But prostitution is still illegal. If busted, sure they will let you go, but she is going to jail, and in a serious way. The women do it because the financial incentive is gigantic, because of the absolute uselessness of Cuban currency, and the rarity and value of true US hard currency.

If you are going to partake it, its got to be in the long term, girlfriend for a week kind of thing. ST transactions, and the venues in which they occur, make it really risky for her. So much so that I would feel like a jerk.

I've been in Cuba now for a week and the island is opening all her treasures to me. Is it me? Or are these girls possessed when it comes to passionate sex? (Veteran Cuba travelers respond). They transform into these sexual Goddesses. I've had to adjust my sexual game to really enjoy what I was experiencing. They get into a sexual zone and I'm still just sport fucking without the passion. I had to get with the program and get into my sexual zone, that's what Cuba does to you. As I reported last trip I found the perfect casa particular, and I also had girls who lived on the street waiting on their stoop for me to return home late at night. Well this time I switched it up because I don't like being predictable. I initially booked at a hotel but met a guy who had a casa with his wife. Next thing I know his beautiful niece from the countryside was visiting. We all drank rum and she asked if I had a girlfriend, I said I'm looking for someone like her. Two days later and I had fucked the niece about 9 times. She never asked for money but I brought liquor for the house and gave her 100 USD when she left after two days. The casa owners wife went to the countryside also with the niece after two days and I come home in the evening one day to find the casa owner drinking rum with four girls of different shades and sizes. Shit! We drank till 4 am and in the morning I had three girls in bed with me. The casa owner cooked breakfast and one of the girls made her long term pitch. Fuck it! I was buying. We walked the malecon and hungout like family. The girl fucked me silly and now it was time for me to be alone. I told everyone I was headed to the States but I'm still here. I checked into a hotel and did the solo thing.

I felt I could always double back but I wanted more adventure. Met a chocolate sister from 23rd. Damn! What is it with this island, are they all good fuckers?. After a day decided to roll the dice again and went to Casa de Musica. I sat next to two French guys who started a conversation with me. They were buying me drinks and had picked up three MILFS. The more I drank the younger the MILFS looked. We decided to all go club hopping and I was at the hotel at 5 am with one of the MILFS. Damn! She was crazy but I was tired. Cuba had broke me down sexually. I'm ready to leave tomorrow and I've got great memories but if you come to Cuba, have your sex game ready for the long term. A girl told mr in Cuba if you don't bust at least two nuts then the girl isn't satisfied. I can't wait to sleep on the plane tomorrow.

I missed this part of your earlier message and I am surprised others did not chime in already. So you are thinking of finding a woman and having her accompany you on your backpacking / hiking journeys. I would probably recommend against it, because you are a first timer and like you said, you are just now learning Spanish through Rosetta Stone. There are so many things unique to Cuba out there that you have to experience on the ground, and that is just for a regular traveler. I suggest you adopt a wait and see approach. If you meet a Cubana that you feel comfortable enough to haul around, then good for you. However, the chances of you meeting a woman, asking her to accompany you and then living to regret it are pretty good.

A Latino friend of mine just came back from Cuba a few months ago. He had told his woman, a Santiaguera, that he was coming months in advance...

Use the safe. If there is no safe lock items in bag. They might take item like after shave. Cuba is on of the safest countries in the world. Talk to security before bring back the girls to hotel and make arrangements. Read the past posts. Use the search function.
