BTW my first visit to PP was in a Cebu Pac DC9. In 2001/2002.
If you had scouted you can get return tickets to PP less than 3,000 per pax, well I am a budget traveller so I look for cheap deals.

Posts: 6781Power (less) in the Philippines
GE has written some interesting and informative FRs this year about the power crisis in country, the rolling brownouts, the lack of planning by the politicians (all of whom knew there would be a crisis in the future but did little to resolve the mess. Until the 2016 elections are around the corner and then it is too late).
His FR links are below.

Now today in the Philstar is an admission from the DOCE chief (Petilla) that March and April 2015 are not the best times to be in the country due to a serous power shortage. He is asking for emergency powers to resolve the lack of MW. As GE said in the earlier FRs you have to despair at the lack of planning from those in power when other ASEAN countries seems to have so little fuss.

I always read the comments at the end of the article and have noticed over the last 12-18 months how nastier they have become about the politicians (not just this one who has been called incompetent by a elder senator and never resigned when he said he would Christmas last year).
So maybe for those planning a visit to the Philippines the period March / April 2015 could be a time to avoid?

Thanks for the information. I guess I am looking for a nice beach resort and had heard Palawan was the area. I can bring my own cutie for a few days. If this is not the nice resort area I am open to other suggestions.

I stayed in Puerto Princessa so I assume where I stayed doesn't interest you but just in case, I stayed at the Hotel Centro Palawan for about $100/ night. It was a 3-4 star hotel and I would recommend it.

Posts: 3272Manila to Palawan and back in August
On my next trip I am thinking about visiting Coron / Palawan. Probably leaving from Manila to there. I have never been there. Any suggestions on how to travel there and where to stay? I would like to be in a 3-4 star hotel with non-smoking rooms under $100/ night. I see Cebu Pacific has flights there but are they on small planes? Any help on this would be appreciated.
