Santo Domingo. - Justice Ministry officials and police agents on Wednesday rescued 16 adolescent girls and boys who were being sexually exploited by a network of Dominicans and foreigners in the beach town of Boca Chica (east).

Arrested in the raid were 10 USA Citizens "johns" and 6 Dominicans including four women were, accused of recruiting the minors for sexual purposes.

The Justice Ministry, the National Police Anti-organized Crime Dept. (DCO) and the International Justice Mission have been investigating sex tourism, exploitation and children trafficking in Boca Chica for several months, which led to bust of the network that used the minors to provide sex for foreigners.

In a raid Wednesday of a residence in the Alpes de San Isidro sector, 12 girls and 4 boys, 14 to 17 years old were found in a pool party, where cash, alcohol, drugs and condoms were also found.

boca chica has always had a reputation for younger action, as compared to sosua. jailbait, though, is seen in sosua. all the times i've been to sosua i've always seen that one or two who appear ****. i've seen them pay another chica to use that other chica's cedula. that said, yeah, there is more jailbait in boca chica than sosua.

I'm in Boca Chica about half time now- I don't see any difference from when I moved down here in December. It's not the wild, wild, west scene like Sosua, but there are plenty of good times to be had here. However, you will find that most of the women are darker. Probably at least half are Haitians. The main street scene gets started around 9 PM, but all day long you can find a few women available on Avenida Duarte or in the park.

There are lots of local people on day trips from La Capital and other areas spending time on the beach, especially on the weekends, and some of them stay overnight. So the street scene is a bit more relaxed and a bit more circumspect than Sosua. You will see regular tourists in the same bars and restaurants as the professionals and their clients.

I must comment on people who are worried about crime in the DR, and Boca Chica in particular. Dominicans and Haitians are some of the most peaceful people I've ever been around. The vast majority of crime here is women and men in domestic fights (which can be pretty nasty). But especially in the tourist areas, the police presence is high and tourists really have to be stupid to get into trouble. I contrast this to the regular drive by shootings in my community, and the number of people caught in the crossfire. So in many ways I feel safer in Boca Chica than at home in the USA.

You can get hurt in traffic accidents, however, so pay attention to whether or not the driver is drinking.

i was last in dr-bc and sousa about 7 yrs ago. i hadn't been back since because i got caught (hotel manager and staff) with an **** putacita. they had informed me of her reputation of lying about her age and using older sister's cedula. i was also told that particularly in boca chica, there are not many girls who are **** but look much older. checking to see if other's have noticed this. want to monger but do it a free man.
