Went to TPE over the weekend with 2 friends. Ended up at the Wanhua night market after doing some quick research. The main street is full of Taiwanese style seafood. The side alleys are where all the action is. We started walking around those side alleys and mamasans started talking to us. One said "$300 and you can touch boobies 20 yr olds. I've been getting quite a few Line adds lately. I replied to a couple to see what was up. Here's the general SOP:

A profile with a cute girl adds you, says nothing.

If you message first, then they reply.

They will say their name.

They ask for your name and where you live.

Then they give you a pitch about being a student or something, and say they date for money.

If you want to meet them, they eventually give you an address.

You go, and they bounce you around a little. Go, here, Ok, go there. I think it's to pull you deeper into the scam.

After 2 or 3 times they want you to go to a convenience and buy some kind of gift card to "trade" with them instead of accepting cash.

I never made it that far as it smelled of scam, but I assume then they somehow try to get you to send them the card info. I have no idea how the cards work, but you probably don't need the physical card to use it. (I got a few to actually ask for the card before even asking for an address, and they all seemed to be going after different ones, but hell if I could figure it out).

Anyway, I assume that after they get whatever info they want they vanish. The script was almost always the same with only a couple minor variations.

Be careful.

Edit: I just saw BruceTea's post below. Seems to be the same scam, though I have no idea how a guy went through that kind of cash!

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Investigation Bureau (CIB) recently warned locals of rampant pre-paid game card scams that many users of the popular free messaging service Line have fallen victim to.

According to the CIB, a total of 126 cases — with victims losing millions of New Taiwan dollars after being tricked into buying pre-paid game cards — had been reported to police this August alone.

One of the cases happened last month when a victim surnamed see was tricked into buying NT $1. 1 million worth of game cards.

The CIB said the 35-year-old see met a girl via Line. She claimed to be a student and a part time prostitute and told see that she would have sex with him in exchange for NT $3,000. The two made an appointment at a designated location, however, the woman did not show up.

See phoned the girl and the latter asked him to buy NT $3,000 worth of pre-paid game cards for online games instead. See ultimately was tricked into buying hundreds more game cards with the total sum reaching NT $1. 1 million before he realized he had been scammed, according to the CIB.

He finally reported the case to the police. He also complained that no one warned him of a possible scam when he bought these game cards at convenience stores.

The CIB warns Line users to be aware of this kind of scam. The CIB also called on convenience store clerks to report suspected fraud cases to the police when they see someone buying a large amount of game cards.

Yes I had gone there almost a year ago. I think it's the same place. On the north side of the street. Newer building than Minquan Blue and nicer facility. I went there only a few times, but it's similar to #88 Minquan, which is across the street from Blue. Higher quality massage than Minquan Blue, but the emphasis is more on the actual massage. Extras are at discretion of who you get an seemingly not a matter of policy of the place so might be none. And extras are likely limited to hand and not more is my guess. But I got a good massage at a good price. Didn't engage with the extras there but was happy with the massage each time.

I'm relatively sure this place isn't legit. Walked in same ritual as Minquan but a definitively better looking place. Receptionist asked me if I had been there before and I said no, nor have I ever seen a review so I was going in blind. She told me she was going to give me 19 and we walked into a private room on the third floor with a shower inside the room. Perfect. However, the girl walked in and low and behold she was an old 35+ lady with a decent body but a beat face. I was immediately turned off and knew I wouldn't be looking for more as I have pretty high standards.

Halfway into the session, police came by and knocked on my door with warnings from below via buzzer to alert their presence. Masseuse walked out the door calmly to address the issue, took the black cover on the hole in the door and I was already covered in the back with towels so there really wasn't any suspicion. I'm an Asian but from America and told them so checked my ID and they were out. I don't know if LEO checks every place but that's a pretty good flag for me that this place wasn't legit. More red flags went off in my mind when the masseuse told me that she was actually #33 and not #19 to my disappointment. I'm not sure what the protocol is for deception but I wanted to some of my money back. However, seeing as how I got a 2 hour massage for 1500 and it was pretty damn good I decided to just let it go but may be back later in order to check it out again. Hopefully 19 will be a gem.

Well she wanted to come back on Monday night. After dinner I texted her and we hooked up for another couple of rounds. Still no mention of money for service, so I just rode it out. I told her I was busy the next couple of nights and maybe we could get together on my last night. So Thursday rolls around and we get together after my business dinner. Unfortunately she was on her woman thing so I had to settle for a nice BBBJ. After she said that she had something to tell me. She finally said that she "sometimes " goes with guys for money. I'm actually not sure if this is going to be my first review as I've lurked around here for a few years. I looked back at my PMs and realized Rag42, Roni, and Bnlee had helped me out several times in the past before and even though there have been quite a few reports on Minquan Blue, I'll be giving one on a number I haven't seen on here before.

As stated several times, this place is pretty easy to find once you get to the intersection of MingChuan and SongJiang on the side of the bookstore. Facing the bookstore you would wan to go left until well, you hit 75.

Was confused at first but walked in with two other older men and there was a receptionist who asks what you want, who you want, and tells you to take off your shoes and hands you some slippers. Going back to the reviews I wanted to get someone great like 8,9,1 but they were unavailable. Not sure if she was lying or not since I can't read her board, but I ended up with #55 after she told me in Chinese she would let me see / introduce me to the girls. I speak Chinese so I was pretty sure I didn't hear wrong but I was led up the elevator and showed to a room. She was pretty wide set and I'm more of a petite lover myself so I questioned where were the girls I was supposed to see?
