If you are looking for a new hotel in Makati I stayed at the Tune Hotel just off P Burgos at the top of the hill this past August. Don't book through their site I think they charge for towels etc. Hotels.com it was $39 USD per night total and its very clean. The rooms are very small like a Microtel no desk no nothing but a queen bed that's all I need. There is a nice 24 hour sports bar attached. I actually stayed there twice that trip and they held my bags (2) for 10 days with no probs. I think there was supposed to be a fee but they forgot to charge me. I have had bags stowed in many hotels around manila with no probs ever. Before that I stayed at Casa Bocobo many times which I liked and before that Swagman (turned into a dump since the Chinese bought it) many more times both in ermita. I just got tired of all the bullshit in Ermita.

I used to stay in Makati up until about 5 years ago and I think I will return again. I just usually need a night or two there in between trips to the provinces or AC. I try not to have any free nights with no girls lined up but if any thing fell through, I'd rather be in Makati than Ermita. The bars in Ermita are crap and I only made 1 trip to LA Cafe or whatever its called and I wasn't impressed. That whole surrounding area feels very unsafe, I can't explain it, I'm just not comfortable. I never felt unsafe in Makati.

This is on P. Burgos in the heart of a grubby red light bar district. Unless they have suddenly spent money refurbishing it I would be careful if I were you. There are cheaper hotels in the same street & surrounding area but they are pretty grotty these days as they have never been maintained. Probably a hot sheet style hotel nearby might be better if you're on a tight budget.

    Pre Travel Report

FYI. I booked 6 nights at the Holiday Inn & Suites Makati. Total price is. $925.54. That includes the 22% tax and service charge. Following that, I have 4 nights at the Pan Pacific. Total cost was. $701.64. Ouch! Booked both through hotel.com. It's ok if the company pays, but if out of my own pocket, will have to go back to Las Palmas. Enjoy. Safety first.

    Traders?

Anyone have recent info on the Traders hotel? Last post of any detail was from 2008. If not, may take one for the team and report during my next trip. Previous post said there was a bar with take out in the basement. I'm guessing that's gone, but would be nice to know before booking.

The best Western is nice but not cheap, however if you keep an eye on Agoda they do have mid week promo's that go we'll below their rack rate. If you just need a bed & shower in a modern clean safe place then Hostellery is right around the corner from them.

There is even a Jollibee across the road for your dining pleasure.

    I tuned out the tune

I figured to be 60 USA for one night, just need a shower and bed and perhaps mate too.

    This is another Budget trip.

I am off to Dumaguete the next day.

    Thanks for help.

Some deluxe rooms at Sohotel in Malate have a jacuzzi. Don't know if p2100 is competitive with the other places mentioned. It's near Exclusiv and Zzyzx if nightclubs are your thing, and the Cowboy Grill for live music. Robinson's is about a 10-minute walk away; depending on traffic the jeep may be faster. I've never stayed there but a m8 does each time he visits Manila.

I am a big fan of the in room jacuzzi. The only online booking site that I know of that has it as a filter option is wotif. I just had a look at it, and found the following hotels listed as having in room jacuzzi.

    - Fraser Place Manila.

    - Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalg Center Manila.

    - Best Western Oxford Suites Makati.

I have never stayed at any of these places, so do not know anything about them.

If you try one of these or find one with in room let us know how it goes, I'll be trying to find something similar for my next trip to the phils.

I have never done it but am pretty sure you can. If you go squeeze one of Rose's big boobs for me please.

    Define cheap?

Cheapest place to shower / sleep would be Hostellery.

Next step up is heaps of 3 star hotels in the area starting with Tune or Grand Prix or Rothaman.

Hotels in Makati area (or closeby) with a jacuzzi in the room?

I'm heading back to Manila end of this month for a few days and nights. I'm looking for a hotel that has a jacuzzi in the room. Anyone have any names to recommend me?

    4. Close to Amazonia (maybe that's a con?) and MBC, just a couple blocks to walk.

    5. Close to Robinson's.

I got an ok rate, so for the rate, I might stay there again, but it's nothing to get excited about.
Sister hotel City Garden, just across the street and 1/2 block north of LG, is about $10 more per room / per night, but is of somewhat higher quality. The buffet breakfast is pretty good, the lobby and rooms are a bit nicer.

    Pros:

    1. Super friendly staff. They even let me check in VERY early without any extra charge or hassle.

    2. Room is ok. Very plain, but did the job.

    3. Hotel restaurant was actually not half bad and priced fairly.

    5. Close to Robinson's.

    6. Girl friendly (I booked a room for 2).

    Cons:

    1. Bathroom was old, small, and the shower was terrible.

    2. No safe in the room.

    3. They seemed to always be working on some other room's air con, but mine ok, so could be nothing.

Agoda reviews say the same thing so good to know they are accurate. Thank you!
