If you guys keep it up, I am going to start crying. After L'uomo closed I used to stop by just to pay my respects. One time someone had scrawled on a temporary wall -- Where is my happiness?

Yes, I know. The trend is disturbing. Luomo and Rio Antigo both gone. Aeroporto no girls until 3:00. Used to go there at lunch. Nothing opening up to replace them.

However, there is an upside to the bad economy. The talent at Monte Carlo is Outstanding! Plus I got free entry tonight. Frequent guest.

Oh, yeah and one other thing to cry about, as Sperto said, used to go to the cabina twice, buy drinks all for less than $100.

Last week or the week before Bia was discussed. The one from Luomo. I found a photo from 3 years ago. Man she was good. Her dancing skills were damn good and her bedroom skills were off the charts.

Ah yes the good old days 40 reais for TLN, yeah sounds about right, maybe someday we'll go back to when you could buy cruzeiros or cruzados from the hotel bell hop and get 30 to 40 percent above market FX rate and Marius was $5 US with beers. It will happen again when we get 6 reais to the $ LOL.

Can someone tell me how I access GPGuia? I've been trying but it seems they have the US blocked.

You have to fool the server into thinking you're in Brazil. Do that by changing your proxy settings. Google "proxy settings" will show you how to do it. It'll be trial and error to find a proxy setting that works. There are unblocking websites as well, I just tried a few and they failed to access GPguia. Best of luck.

I never went the escort route in Rio, seemed redundant to me. Escort services are gone, but sites listing independent escort exist, (they change frequently.) Google search will find them. Check GPGuia or other local boards to find the recommended GDP. Yeah, Copa's not as easy as it once was, but it's not totally dead. You just got to know where to look.

I was checking some some notes from 1995. The rate was USD1=R$0,83.

Pousada/hotel prices in Brazil (outside Rio) were R$10-15. Nice apartment in Copa cost R$22 (including New Year). Clothes were very cheap. Food as well.
I can't tell about GP prices in 1995 as I only went for non-pro's or GP freebies. However I think the Help girls asked for R$40 for TLN. RioBob propably knows.

A price example. You might have seen those "Rio-2014" plates (looks like car plates). I've been buying those since 1991. In 1995 they cost R$3. Today they'll cost you at least R$25.

Not to mention how cheap it was before the Real was introduced in 1994.

I can understand you point towards the downside of staying in Centro. The only reason I was picking Centro over Copa was to save time on transportation as I was traveling daily to Centro via metro or cab. I don't think Copa has anything to offer besides Balcony. You can no longer order call girls from any escort sites as they are all closed. However, If you think Centro is super depressing at night than I might as well stay in Copa during my upcoming trip in November. However, my main issue with Copa is that besides beach, and a choice of variety of restaurant, the place has nothing to offer for mongering purpose. I have to travel daily out of Copa to find some action.

Thats why I stayed in Centro. I want to go to the MANY termas there (I don't need to waste my time travelling from Copa). Never mind the depressing area / s. Choose a hotel in a decent location (if you know the area). Preferably an area with food and shops & coffee. Then you can go to the many casas in the afternoon and the termas at night. Only have to travel to Ipanema when you want to see the beach.
