All or nearly all the rooms in Cascades, HDS and Rizo de Oro have digital televisions with HDMI input jacks.
I misspoke regarding Hacienda de Santiago as it appears that most (if not all) their room televisions are older analog sets.

I believe many of the newer love motels have digital TVs. I'm not sure about Pueblo Amigo.

    Tln

I am going to Tijuana on Saturday and I will be staying at Pueblo Amigo. This is my first time booking an overnight date. What can I expect assuming the provider is competent?

But I'm wondering what the heck should I do there in between sessions with the girls. For you who usually stay in Tijuana for a few nights, what do you usually do with your time there when in between sessions?

Scatman, you are absolutely right. But you should have realized by now that our mathematically challenged friend is absolutely clueless when it comes to numbers amongst a plethora of other topics. There's really no point in trying to argue with him. I mean, he actually thinks HK can profit off a "spread. " In a pathetic attempt to sound sophisticated he writes:

"A side benefit, if they choose to, is that HK can then take these dollars they got at 13:1 and make a bundle on the spread. ".

First of all, there is ONE and ONLY ONE way you can make a profit off the spread. And that is if YOU ARE THE ONE OFFERING THE SPREAD. The spread is defined as the amount between the buy and sell prices. HK does not offer a spread. Therefore, it is impossible for them to make a profit on it. Casa de cambios have a spread. Banks offer a spread. HK does not offer a spread.

HK does not get dollars at 13:1. They get pesos at 13:1. And they are LOSING a TON of money because they are not adjusting their tipo to cambio to market conditions. HK is a dollar based business. Might as well be USA Based. Their prices are dollar based and do not fluctuate. Their prices in pesos fluctuate although very rarely. So if their TdC is now 13/1, then they receive $52 mn for a beer. If they adjusted their TdC to market rates, say 14.5/1, then they would charge $58 mn. They are LOSING $6 mn for every beer they sell for pesos because their finance team doesn't know what they are doing.

Dollars in Mexican border towns are always worth less than in the rest of the world because of the dumping of drug profits. If a dollar is trading at 14.5 pesos interbank, it will trade around 14 at casa de cambios in border towns. This is due to the fact that it is illegal for a Mexican business to accept more than $100 dls in a transaction unless it is within 75 miles of the USA Border. Dollars are harder to spend in Michoacáand, Sinaloa, Guerrero, Zacatecas, than it is in Tijuana. Therefore, the cartels do not want dollars and dump them for less than market value at the border towns. That's why you see international spot rates outside the casa de cambio spread.

If HK was smart they would do the opposite of what they're doing now and charge in pesos and float the dollar. They could make millions in extra profit over the course of a few years because of the permanent arbitrage situation that exists in Tijuana.

    Get Creative:

    Food.

    Shop.

    Smoke A Cigar.

    Go On Internet.

Have a drink and people watch (outside).

Go to Plaza Rio and have a frozen yogurt.

    Get a shoe shine.

See a movie at the VIP cinema.

    Get a massage.

    Get a Haircut.

    Go to the beach

Go to a Xolos (local soccer team) game.

Just a few ideas. Things are cheaper in Tijuana which opens up a lot of doors.

    Tijuana Between Sessions?

    Sun or Mon night

Heading down this Sun or Mon if anyone wants to go or meet up. I'm very familiar but not a regular anymore since I moved out of SD. I love coming back to visit though, LOL. I speak Spanish very well also.

    Heading Down Friday Night (26th)

I'm heading down tonight (Friday the 26th) with a buddy that hasn't been down there in years. I've been going fairly frequently for the past year or two. If any of you guys want to meet up, drop me a note. I usually either hang at HK or Adelitas. Say hey if you see me.

Happy to report that there are no issues. I even walked around some places solo away from the zone, of course I blend in easier because I don't stand out like a drunk gringo. So far my luck has been good. No policia yet. Again, I try to blend in.

My Jewish friends openly joke that they will be watching movies and eating Chinese on Christmas.
