All I can say is that if you'd ignore newbies they will never share their exp with you as you are quite rude from the start.

Personally, I am traveling to Phillis and that is why I cannot share any info, I have never been to a bloody island haha, this is the sole purpose of this web site. To share what you know about the area.

I do not brag about stuff. I gave several posts with precise info about my area. If one follows directions can get lots of action. Cheers.

I would suggest that Catarman is the "main" city of Samar, as evidenced by the fact that the airlines fly there, it is much larger and it has more hotels.

Check out Google for hotels if you want to stay there.

No; Samar (Northern or Eastern) hasn't evolved much beyond how it was 18 years ago when I first ventured there.

You have been to Samar before so I assume you remember that in such relatively small communities foreigners stand out and conservative girls are a bit skittish about being seen with a foreigner, and especially about being seen entering a hotel with him.

Tacloban is still stressed by the typhoon; you will not find it as laid back and accommodating as it used to be. It's a different place now.

How can you discourage a person who is traveling to a destination for the first time from asking a question? You do not want to be helpful for the sake of it. If a person is or is not a Card Carrying Member of the ISG is that person's choice. You resent members who aren't abiding by rules of your own creation. You are contributing to a hostile climate on the forum. You may be getting to absorbed in the ISG. Think about taking a break.

LAT, I'm with you about prompting the newbs to remind them to write us a report. But the history of the thing is that newbs get answers to their questions, then we rarely hear back from them. BTW, even guys with 500 posts who have traveled everywhere else, but not phils, are still newbs. "Been to DR, CR, Columbia, Rio, UAE, FSR. Making my way to phils for the first time. I really hate walking through a lobby or even past a security guard with my lady for the evening. Can someone please tell me if there are any hotels, condos, with a private entrance in Manila? Preferably Malate area, but would also possibly consider Makati if not too expensive.

I was there many times in the middle ought and was not impressed. I stayed at the Eduardo Tourist hotel a few times which was the best accommodations in the city and it was barely a 1 star place. I never forget the sign in the room prohibiting the drinking of tuba in the room.

Another place towards the end of my travels was Marju Crisel a place isolated on the way to the airport. It was a decent room but it was situated in the middle of nowhere. I think I was there when it was newly opened.

Has the city evolved at all? I doubt it.

I couldn't agree with you more pompetus. The kinder gentler way to do it would be to give the info in 2 lines or less and with the next line say " now for this information we would like to see a good report on your success in _ city". Less energy, Less head ache, and more positive feedback will come from this approach in the future. Now there will be many who disagree with us in the open forum, but when ever I say something about this being a brother hood of sweet little mother fuckers, and not a mother hood of brother fuckers, I always get private messages thanking me for saying something about it. There are those who agree with us, but don't want to get involved in the rile that ensues from making their opinions public.

I think the problem is that it often takes a lot more than just 1 or 2 lines to answer the questions from newbies. So I'm with Westy here.
I don't mind to answer 1 or 2 short questions every now and then but you have to draw the line somewhere. Otherwise we find ourselves answering the same questions over and over again.

So what. I wouldn't begrudge a person's request for information. The time you spent researching this member's post history maybe would have been better spent finding a way to answer his question. I know that if I had the information he needed, I would have given it to him rather than scolding him. In your estimation, how would the collegiality of this forum been better served; (A) by politely answering the inquiry; (B) ignoring the post altogether because it was jerking my chain; (C) berating the poster?

It's not your call to make. A lot of guys patrol the forum look for peccadilloes (like the way you spelled paltry) and then pounce on fellow members. You don't need to do that.

BTW I think I remember reading and seeing a number of your pics in the photo section. I really enjoyed them. I am planning a trip to CDO some time and will look for your posts during my preparation.

Regarding me previous post. We don't want newbs asking routine / general questions on the board for a reason. They are (almost) always takers, not givers. They ask questions, get answers, and we never hear back from them. The Original Poster is one of those: 3 posts in 9 years, none of them descriptive FR's. If you want to promote this behavior, respond to him on the open board.

Hello everyone, I'm going to CDO and Davao next month and was wondering.

Do these city's have an equivalent to a Sogo hotel I. E a hotel which you can rent a room by the hour.

As personally I prefer to keep my hobby private and also not worry about losing anything of value should one of those crafty girls get the better of me.
