This seems to be useful information, mostly Managua hotels to date, although they mention a few outside of Managua to avoid:

Posts: 59Last Minute Trip to Leon.
I am coming into El Salvador in two days and was planning on surfing and mongering there. However the waves have not cooperated and I am likely to end up surfing in and around Leon. Any guidance on finding some action? It seems like there may be a lot of semi pro action with the students. That would be great as I like that but its unclear how to find it. Any spas or girl clubs in Leon? Any site recommendations for escorts?

Just returned from 4 day trip. Unreal! During my layover on Thursday, my girls advised my, "don't be worried when you see the people fighting in the streets". I had no clue what they were talking about. They met me at the airport and we proceeded to get a rental car. Less that half a mile down.
Carretera Northe, it became evident. The city was under massive protests. People everywhere. Burning tires and everything else everywhere. Streets filled with rocks and bricks. I went first to Malecom for something to eat and some cervesas. Decided to treat my lovelies to the Holiday Inn for the first night. Huge riot right in front. Caught a lull and the police let me through to the entrance. That was day 1.
Next day had a wonderful breakfast at the hotel then off to Masachapa. I must say that except for all the debris it was relatively quite out the back side of town. Stayed at the Vista Hotel Very good location with a pool and two open dinning rooms facing the water. We sat on the upper deck all day drinking rum, dancing and singing, just the three of us. Food was very good and cheap. $3 breakfast. $7 dinner. Finished with a swim in the pool and the usual rousting of the room. Next day went to Pochomil hung out on the beach all day. Rode some ATVs and horses, but mainly relaxed. Stayed again at the Vista. Now, all good things must come to an end.
Headed back to Managua Sunday. Everything was closed. Police and soldiers everywhere. Protesters had built roadblocks everywhere. It was a freaking war zone. There were burning barricades, roads had been destroyed in sections and it was complete Caos. I was trying to take the girls home because it was obvious that the party was over. I became entangled in a maze of streets in Barrios I had never seen before. At one point I became snarled in traffic right in the middle of the looting of a grocery store. Several of which I had already seen. The police lines started attacking the people with clubs and riot gear.
After a 2 hour wait in line, I was able to get a room in the Hotel Mercedes across from the airport. Was stuck there the rest of the day, alone with probably the last 12 pack of Victoria Classico in town. Heard gunshots and assorted blasts all night. Next morning, flight was delayed 4 hours. I must say I won't forget this one!

Any farmacia, anywhere in Managua will sell you generic Viagra. And it is very cheap. This is true whether it is a large, full service farmacia, or even all the tiny mom & pop farmacia's will sell you the blue pill.

Posts: 148No new postings for 2 1/2 years?
I am looking for a new place to go with some fellow mongers that has what Cartagena has in terms of beautiful women and some great houses to rent but new and different. I had heard that Nicaragua might be fun, but the paucity of postings makes me concerned. I would appreciate any opinions and advice.
I'll probably post this on the Managua area too, as that seems slightly more active.
Thanks in advance!
Dave.

Call them. It only costs a few dollars, if that.
How is your Spanish?
If not good, hopefully Pablo will answer.

Jeans and tennis shoes are fine. Plain short sleeve shirt or T-shirt.

Posts: 2How to Dress etc. ?
In Managua now with some family but would like to go out and get a hotel and find some girls.
Should I dress in my usual American garb? Like jeans or shorts with a button down shirt or t-shirt? Sandals or hiking boots?
Just curious if I should try and find some more local looking clothes before I go walking down the streets.
