Having booked my first trip to Jakarta, and having read back through the forum at least 20 pages (and also looked at the hotels thread), I have a few of questions which I am hoping knowlegeable members might be kind enough to help me with.

1. I am thinking of staying at the Oakwood Premier Cozmo which has good reviews on a well-known review site. I am assuming this place is a good choice and is girl-friendly, but if anyone has any information to the contrary I would be grateful to know now rather than later. Also if anybody thinks the location of this place is all wrong, I would be very interested to know. I appreciate there are major problems with traffic in Jakarta, but since this is a vacation-only visit, I probably won't be doing much in the daytime anyway. I will just be going out later in the evening. I am not really a clubbing type (too old), so I am assuming I will mainly be going to BATS, CJs, Blok M, etc from about 9 pm onwards. I also appreciate that some of the spas / MPs (for example Travel, Alexis) are quite a long way from the Oakwood, so if anybody can recommend any good spas / MPs which are more central that would be great.

2. Question regarding transport: do members tend to use the motorcycle taxis, or are they not really recommended? I have used them in Bangkok and they saved a lot of time, but obviously they aren't ideal if it is raining, and there is of course a risk of serious injury!!

3. Thirdly, are there any recommended sports bars which show English Premier League?

4. I quite like places where you can play pool (or billiards as it is called in some countries in Asia) in the kind of atmosphere you get in Pattaya beer bars (I. E. With girls around the place as well). Does anybody know if there any bars of this type in Jakarta, and if so are there any you would recommend?

5. Another question. I have a penchant for students, ideally ones who speak some English (but then, who doesn't? Any additional information about how and where I might meet student types would be much appreciated.

I believe the Oakwood is in the same area as the Marriott. If so, the location may not be ideal from the standpoint of access to Block M, Kota, BATS, and so forth. Also, the traffic around there can get absolutely horrendous, although I have heard unconfirmed reports the elevated highway in that area that had been under construction for too long recently opened, which might relieve some of the traffic problem. However, my comments on the location should be viewed merely as a heads up to a potential problem as I have never actually routed from there, and perhaps it is not as bad as I am thinking. Others here should be able to clarify this.

I do not use motorcycle taxis as I consider them too dangerous, particularly after seeing a couple of motorcycle accidents in Jakarta. It also seems they are for short hauls within local areas. I don't think they would be an appropriate mode of transportation from Oakwood to some of the above mentioned areas, for example. But I haven't used them so am no expert.

There may be a pool table or two at some of the Blok M bars. Maybe at Top Gun, but my memory on this is not clear. I also have been at a pool joint right next to Sarinah (a shopping mall relatively close to the Grand Hyatt) but was not sure if the gals there were working or not (I suspect a few might have been). In any case, it was more a pool place than a P4 P place.

It is difficult without knowing something about you whether you should stay in Jakarta for 10 days. If you do stay, it would be for the girls; there is not much else of note there, at least not in comparison to places like Bangkok, for example. If you are interested in seeing sights and are not entirely focused on mongering, Yogyakarta might be the place to go to see Borobudur and Prambanan (you would need two days to see both); but the P4 P scene there does not compare to Jakarta's.

As to your other questions, perhaps others can answer them.

As far as the "extra" price for sex at a place that gives an actual massage, you guys are giving them the same money as I give them. I frequent the local indonesian sex chat sites and they are paying the same. The price of the actual massage, then plus 400 to 600 k for full sex.

Yeah, I think I lucked out at Hotel Travel with my session- the place sounds like mostly for eye candy. And yes, I need to hit Kings Cross and Classic my next trip. I KNEW I would be back, as this is my new happy place, so in some ways, felt less pressure hit every venue than I normally would (not that I was TOO sheltered, LOL).

Food. Why do people travel half way around the world to eat lesser versions of the same tasteless crap they eat in the US? Nothing like seeing people eating a burger in Pattaya to make me realize how much I do not fit in with some other hobbiests, but that is a different story.

Great places to eat in the world- Jakarta is one of them. Indonesian food, and in truth, there are MANY, MANY Indonesian foods, is amazing.

And how you get it is up to you- from an amazing array of vegetables, tofu and tempeh you point to, if you have no bahasa Indonesia like me, what you want. The woman who is making your personal plate of Karadok fresh will put your choice of toppings on a banana leaf covered with a thin bed of rice. On top of your selection will be go an unfathomably yummy peanut sauce, and if you like it, hot Chile as hot as you want. Not into hot food, just say tidak pedas and not only will you be saved anus thobbing head, but they will be impressed with your langauge.

And this just one of 100 dishes I could write about, but it was a staple of mine, as it was ubiquitous, yummmy and veggie (I have given up eating all meat put the most pink variety).

The women.

I described the body type and looks some, but how about their personalities. Charming, is a great place to start. More reserved and perhaps less goofy than Pinay (and yes, these are totally generalizations), the women are lovely, WHEN you can communicate with them. At BATS and CJs you are likely to get a good deal of English, other places, not so much. Yet, this was not a huge hinderance when in the sack. Warm and GFE, perhaps a bit more shy with affection at first than Pinay, they are far warmer by nature than the Thais.
