Possibly a more thorough and wordly education than your's Sinyo GE. Following the defeat of Falatehan laskar troops in the 1520's the Portuguese language became the language of trade / lingua franca and mongering in Jakarta until about the 1740's. For 80 of those years Holland was itself occupied by Spain and run as a Spanish colony with a certain amount of fury. The Batavia Census of 1699 clearly indicates the strength of the Portuguese language in Jakarta with over 1/3 of the inhabitants declaring themselves as Mardijker Portuguese.

There are PortTUGUese quarters throughout the trading posts of Java. Mostly named Tugu, all having a number of Mestizo citizens. Many of these Mestizos created during a night of debauchery in the brothels that always neighbour Tugu. A visit to Kramat Tunggal in the 80's or the Sarkem backstreets of the railway station today at Tugu in Yogya provide examples.

While the Dutch language and the VOC prospered from the 1750's during the Dutch golden age, I believe Portuguese remained strong in the language of mongering.

A Moresco nightout with the Portuguese creole sailors of man Mar. Was a renowned experience in 1930's Batavia. With Keroncong lullabies wailing through the night these daredevils who had had the audacity to hunt wild bore at dusk, among muslim neighbours would turn to hard liquor and debauchery in the evenings. Until 1940's the Tugu men wore hats and carried guns, the womanfolk a short tight blouse. They organised festivities where the men and women danced in pairs. They even touched one another to the disgust of the Dutch Calvins. Alcohol was imbibed as a matter of pride.

Betrayed by the jealous Dutch when under Japanese occupation most starved to death in the camps, never to be seen mongering again.

In the mid 90's I attended a Portuguese wedding at the Gereja Sion in Kota to help record some Keroncong. In attendance was a heart melting collection of the most stunningly beautiful girls I've truly ever seen from all over the Indies. Betawi Cristao's, Ambon Serani. Malaccan Kristangs, Surinam migrants, the Costa Jews, and the thin nosed Topasses of Timor. The Holanda (or Londo as used in Java) weren't invited.

    The Bonking Bule. Day 2

Day 2 was Tuesday, and by tradition that means a visit to Mo's Bar for Ladies' Night.

The place wasn't busy but there was plenty to choose from. The Shooter hit a table of tipsy OLs. They had clearly been getting stuck into the free drinks and were up for some white sausage. Great fun in the bar. The Shooter was chosen by an energetic spinner in a sexy black dress, while the Accountant hooked up with an even tinier doll-like creature with a beautiful face. The girls were all office workers, non-pros but expected some compensation for their company. Typical Asian scenario.

Back at the hotel, again it was a great session. Small boobs but great skin and fantastic arse. She was not a professional but uninhibited and very enthusiastic. She had an odd BJ technique that was amateurish yet intensely enjoyable. Basically it was her small mouth trying to engulf his endowment in various ways and from various angles. Her pussy was great-tasting and they 69'd for ages.

Again he had difficulty coming. This time he could not restrain himself and he plunged in bareback, revelling in the hot wetness against his cock. That ramped up the sensation sufficiently to reach escape velocity and he CIP'd (with advance warning). She moaned good-naturally about that, but later she messaged him: "I really enjoyed our sex. I love that feeling in the morning. Was really good in my body. " Kinnell. Rock Star syndrome. Fucking paradise.

There had been no mention of money, except that she expected to receive some, so he left 10 100 k notes by her bag. She took it without counting.

Meanwhile, the Accountant had been persuaded to take 2 of the OLs. The tiny doll-like creature and her raunchy friend. That turned out to be a bad idea. Basically they did not coordinate well, and in fact got in each other's way. He should have just taken one of them. On the plus side, the tiny doll-like creature had a "perfect body". Swings and roundabouts you might say.

All in all another great night.

    The Bonking Bule. Day 1

The Shooter always enjoys a business trip to Jakarta. Let's face it: it'a a great place to get a good shag!

    Day 1.

The Shooter was well cream-crackered from the overnight flight. So he WhatsApped an old contact from Tagged. Sure enough, despite 4 years elapsed since their last meeting, she was ready to tango at short notice. She turned up at the hotel in an hour, looking like a fantastic blend of OL and seductress in glasses and a short dress. A quick drink in the bar then up to the room for a great sesh. This girl likes to suck and fuck. Not much in the titty department, but lovely soft skin and a fantastic arse. And a tremendous work ethic. This girl will go until you tell her to stop.

For some reason, probably jet lag, the Shooter was unable to shoot despite a 5-day abstinence. First she offered back-door, then bareback. The Shooter demurred. Eventually he got off via one of his old nut-busting techniques: she rested her head on his stomach and licked the base of his shaft while he diddled his dick; once completion neared, he switched the angle to come on her face. She didn't flinch at all and took it like a champ.

She had to work the next day, so she left at 8 am. No money requested; the Shooter put 800 k in her bag.

The Accountant was the Shooter's wingman for this trip. He opted for the CraigsList route. Some eye-popping ads. He almost went for a purported Emirati model for $200ST. In the end he chose an Indo girl who was much plainer in person than in the photos. However, she turned out to be a BJ specialist and much to the Accountant's surprise and delight she skilfully extracted 2 pops in just over an hour. $70 ST.

A successful and efficient day 1.

I have never bought ecstasy for those girls, but my friends have. You can just give the money to the girl, they know where to get the stuff inside the disco. I think the price of one tab is like 300 or 400 k, and they are going to want 2 before they go home with you so it's not as cheap a deal as you would think.

A 28 year old will have just as easy luck in Jakarta as they would in Colombia. The difference is in Colombia you will need to be able to speak Spanish to pull freebies, in Jakarta you won't necessarily need to be able to speak Indonesian. But you will need to be a good looking 28 year old to be pulling freebies from the discos, not a short, fat, bald guy who happens to be 28. (I'm not saying that is you.).

No Indonesian girl in Jakarta I've ever met can speak any Spanish. A few of their words are the same as Spanish, but very very few.

    BATS and CJs

As far as the current price at BATS and CJs, in the past I had always refused to pay over a million rupiah. The last few times I went to BATS, I had no luck. Although I really liked the girl I was chatting up and was having a good time with her in the bar, I stuck to my guns and tried to negotiate her down to 1 million. I even went as high as 1. 2 million. But each time they were refusing, wanting at least 1. 5 million (some wanted 2 million) - and they ended up going home with another guy rather than dropping their price (shame, because in each case, the girls were very nice and I ended up alone rather than settling for a more mediocre girl for 1 million). Since I've been in Jakarta so long, I'm a bit picky, and there aren't many girls I will be attracted to in BATS or CJs. I don't normally prefer a girl older than mid 20's and I don't want them to have had a baby.

My last visit to BATS, I met a girl I found very attractive. She was sexy, fun, and getting me horny as hell in the bar. When she asked for 1. 5 for short time, I asked her if she'd go for 1. 2 million and she refused. So I then agreed immediately to 1. 5 (lesson learned). Given the 13000/1 exchange rate, I'm ok with it now if the girl is a keeper.

As it turned out, the girl was absolutely worth it. Best experience I've had in Jakarta in a while. I normally don't keep a girl in my room longer than an hour, but this girl was a lot of fun. She was probably in my room an hour and a half to two hours. She was fine with photos, sexy outfits, and the sex was awesome. I hate to admit it, but 1. 5 for short time seems to be the going rate these days for nicer girls from the 5 star hotels. Even for us guys who have been around for years. Some of my buddies say they have been paying up to 2 million short time for stunners from CJs and BATS. Gone are the days of 500 K for a stunner. But with the taxi fares and entrance fee, these girls are paying at least 250 k just to visit these places, so it makes sense.

Given that this girl was a lot of fun, I'm not complaining. Real GFE both in the bar and in the room. I've even repeated with her a few times after that.

I read where guys claim they are taking some of the nicer girls in BATS for less than that these days, but given my experiences and after talking with some of my friends who have lived in town for years, I find that hard to believe. There are older and less attractive girls who will go for less than that, but they are not the same quality.

    Police checks

Been living in Jakarta for a few years, my experience from being pulled over for the "passport check routine" are now uncountable. From 2003-2010 it happened very often, but I only got stopped for these checks in the Blok M area, Kota and Gunung Sahari. During 2011-2013 it was not many of these checks, I don't think I got stopped at all. Then for me this activity started to peak again last year, but not only on checkpoints at the usual places, but also in Menteng and on Sudirman. In my experience these check only happens at night or early morning. You notice that they only stop taxis, and their excuse are that they are doing "normal patrol". Indonesians may claim that they see a peak in activity in the late days of each month, as its the police haven't recieved their salary yet, and in need of cash. Maybe more of a joke, but may have some truth in it. In my experience nowdays, if you have a valid Kitas or passport, they won't ask you for money or if you do, just say politely no. Works for me.

Another thing, scary thing, that happened to me last weekend, after visiting a kota disco. Was that I was brought in by a undercover taxi driver to the policestation for a drug razia. I'm not into drugs, so I wasnt really worried. It took only 10 min, but it seemed like they were almost expecting me to come down with something, having seen me coming out of that particular kota disco. Story ended well. But what freaked me out afterwards (the next day, when I woke up with a hangover) was the thought, that if they had wanted to, they may have planted something on me during the bodysearch and have claimed me to have carried it. Lesson of they day for me, and I hope others take note of this as well, if you are taken in a razia like this, ask to see the policemans hands before they do the bodycheck on you, and be very aware of overall situation. Even ask a stranger to be your witness, so thepolice notice that you are aware.

Some cops in this country play very dirty, and a faked drug bust, may be too irresistible for some.

But although that location previously had police there much of the time (starting mid-evening), I haven't seen any there recently (although don't go there as much these days), leading to my question about whether the traffic stops have generally diminished in number.

I also heard they had these stops in the area around the deceased Stadium, but I don't recall if I ever saw any there.

    That perhaps explains it.

I am an afternoon, early evening kind of guy and I blend in with the usual commuter traffic. The cops I see are mostly standing on the side of the road waving vigorously at the passing parade and not paying too much attention to who is in the car. I have frequently driven the entire length of Thamrin / Sudirman alone in the car during the three-in-one period and passing literally dozens of stressed-out cops without any of them paying me the slightest heed.

Hiding in plain sight is often a good strategy for those of us who pursue our little hobby.

Normally around Midnight until 4 am and normally in areas where prostitution or drug use is prevalent. I was shaken down twice a few months ago. Once in Kelapa Gading and once near Taman Lawang (don't make any inappropriate assumptions.). Outside Stadium was a standard place to stop people in the past. But it's random. I've never been stopped in the same place twice. Many times they have a blockade but don't stop me. From my experience, it seems they let the Silver Birds pass more easily than the other taxis. But I've been stopped in Silver Birds as well.

If you haven't been stopped yet, your mongering habits probably aren't conducive to it ever happening.

If occasionally we fine, upstanding motorists do infringe some minor traffic regulation then I am a firm supporter of the idea of a small contribution to the policeman's benevolent fund tucked inside the driver's licence as sufficient punishment, and given the alacrity with which the constabulary receive these contributions, holding up the traffic to allow me to go on my way with a crisp salute and a "mind how you go now sir", the police appear to agree. Or perhaps I over-pay, it wouldn't be the first time in this town but given that the difference between Rp 50,000 and Rp 100,000 is about 2. 50 in the Queen's money I can live with the shame.
