Back in March when I stayed in Kiev for 3 weeks, one of my girlfriends was quickly showing me this webpage that lists people who exchange money with the best rate. It was my last day, so I did not pay much attention. She in fact made an appointment to meet with one of those people to exchange from Hryvnia to Dollars. Because she is a local Ukrainian, I would think the rate is better than exchange boothes.

Yes, exactly. At least a couple times over the past two years the amount you could withdraw has changed, not based on the normal limits set by your bank, but instead apparently ordered by the national bank regulator. It seems like things are 'normal' these days and the regular daily limits currently apply.

Thanks Blue Swede, Samcik and JT for the quick, helpful responses.

    ATM withdrawl

I've found a few machines that will let you take UAH8000 but it varies a lot from trip to trip. Sometimes ATM's that would let me get 8 k on one trip will only let me get 2 k the next time. As mentioned your card provider will have a daily limit assigned to your card. A few times I had to hit several machines to get the amount I was seeking.

I think that limit is set by your card issuer.

I will be in Kiev for a couple of weeks later in spring / summer. I checked out apartments and they seem to be same price as last year in USD which in practice, to me, will be 30% more than last year due to the raise of dollar. Strange that grivna is cheaper but still more expensive to rent because of dollar price.

Actually the not very good but absolutely OK hotels (Dnipro, Ukraine, Rus are the ones I have used before) now seems to be cheaper than apartments with a starting price at about 35 USD.

I have several times used and basically been happy with.

But now I think prices seems to be a bit high to say the least. I wouldn't want to pay more than around 50 USD, preferable below 50 USD at current dollar rate, a night for a stay of a week or more.

I just made a fast search and seemed to see similar prices at a couple of other companies...
I've used kievappts many times going to Kiev for myself and colleagues. Appartments are clean, well maintained, and usually good value for money. The company itself is reliable (will pick you up and drive you to airport). No complaints.

    Best regards.

    Owarunner.

    Hi Tuggen,

Did you check with the price by sending them email? I just booked a apartment two weeks ago. The price I got was 20% lower than the value shown in the webpage.

    Apartments

Anyone knows if there are companies having apartments getting down to 50 USD for good apartments (a couple of the absolutely cheapest at Kiev apts are around that but don't look to good to me) in center or have the prices just sky rocketed for everyone but US citizens?

Or maybe I should see if I can get somewhat better price than at web as regular customer? Perhaps I could try?

Grateful for any recommendations on where to search for good / price apartments with trustworthy service.

I heard a very nice looking girl take only 50 $ for 1 to 2 hours at Kiev? That's what I understood from girls over Mamba.
Here is a link to top models. Take a chance as there are plenty of girls from US $12 /=UAH 300 an hour, read one pop. I wouldn't know?
