I've been in Addis twice and stayed only near the piazza. Hotel Taitu was great, but burned down now. Also, I liked the people I met there, so it felt like a walk of shame sometimes to walk in and out past the diners with a girl who basically spoke no English. Got street hookers from all around there, paid 13-30 dollars for short time. Also went to some place I can't find on the map, with Christmas lights, a room for two dollars, girls for about 30. I never went to bole or Chechnya at all, and I don't know it except from reading the last 100 pages of the forum.

Next trip is 9 days at Mr Martin's cozy place. Hope it's girl friendly! If not I'll move.

Questions--apparently it will be rainy season, June 10-19? It was dry on my other trips. Where do the Chechnya streetwalkers go when it rains? I've thought about trying to find a taxi driver who speaks some English, (not easy), and hire him for the whole day, on and off, for maybe 25 dollars, to take me to bars and massage parlors and to filwoha for hot tubs. Any recommendations or advice from Addis connoisseurs? And any current recommendations of massage parlors with pretty girls and reasonable prices and excellent directions to the place would also be appreciated.

Guys just to make it easy for you: wow massage is behind abesynia tower. Take the ally that goes between abesynia Coffe shop and tomoca. You can't miss it then. Had Tina. Strong hands and perfect massage. Little English but very energetic and good FS. Prices are still same. 200 for massage and 300 HJ or 500 FS. Place is typical Ethiopian and not very posh but acceptable for st.

A week in Addis.

Got my old Toyota (450 Birr a day) from the rental like last October. Perfect condition CD player and radio. Drove all in all 800 km like before. Day time is horrible in Addis-too much traffic and you need 1 hour from Atlas to Piazza if you go the Kasanchis way. So most of the time I was going via Bole Station Churchill Road. Evening after 8 Pm its perfect. 15 minutes to Piazza. Like last year I had my favorite street in Piazza. Just around the corner from Taito- spend there most of the evenings for a beer in a quite atmosphere. Didn't found any trustful Rasta to bring me some girls. So despite giving the short time room manager 50 birr, if he brings me a sweet girl. Worked every night! After that I drove all over Addis every night- Mercado, Station, Maesquel, Bole, Gerghi, Macarenia, Halluet, Atlas, Kasanchis, etc. Sometime I get lost but after a while I found a big street and found my way out. Only in Mercado I was a little scared cause of the dark streets and the people around. Hundreds and more and more of girls all around the city on the street in different shapes, ages, etc. Etc. But in most of the areas I wish I had a bodyguard or whatever. Going out of the car and inspecting the beauties I did in every corner-except Mercado.

Found two girls by Badoo spend a dinner and a movie in Edna mal before we ended in my bed in Atlas. Had a perfect time there all in all. This time no massage was too busy with my girls.

In Hawassa, Internet is hopeless, slow and half the time not working. When going to a good hotel it is possible to have a speed that is sufficient for Skype say much, but the moment it is busy the speeds drops. Took me one minute to load this site.

With internet on my phone I reach max 10 kb / s, but most of the time it is 4 or 5 kb.

In Addis they work on 4 g, but that does not say much, Ethiopia telecom does not have the capacity to use the full band with of 4 g. Ethio telecom is absolutely the worst telecom company I ever encountered.

Assuming you are browsing regular web, what kind of connection speed is possible? Using ZTE EVDO modem and connection it was hopeless, crawling low speed when a connection could be made, which was less than 50% of the time.

There was talk of 4 G but its entirely possible for ETC to entirely crap internet connectivity. Anyone used 4 G yet in Addis?
