For black chicas, go to Colón or elsewhere on the Atlantic side. But, one or two can always be found at Hábanos.

The tax on sportsbook winning tickets has been in place for years. It doesn't slow down any local sportsbook players.

The Tax on cash outs at the casino cage will also not slow down the casino at all.

No offense to the people of panama but, judging by how they play black jack, poker etc they could care less or do not pay attention to casino odds at all. They go against almost every statistical play. For small players which most are cashing out $50 or $100 will result in a very small tax. They do not look at the $5 the casino is taking they will look at the $95 they are winning. They do not understand that by giving the casino 5% kills there ability to win with any consistency.

American players tend to be more odds conciouss and it may effect casino tourism but, it will not effect in anyway the die hard Panamanian player.

What it will effect is speed of the game. When I sit down I usually change my cash into far more chips than I should need. I do this so I do not have to stop the action to continually get chips. Now there will be a huge disadvantage to buying more chips than you need in the beginning. Times this by 7 other people sitting at the table.

    Casino tax law no. 23

According to the President of the Association of Managers of Gaming (ASAJA), Antonio Alfaro, new regulations stipulating a tax on cash withdrawals by customers in Panama's casinos, are now being plagued with a number of technical issues which make it almost impossibly to collect the tax.

Law 23 went into effect in May which applied a tax on cash withdrawals from casinos of 5. 5 per cent. However according to Mr. Alfaro those responsible for drafting the law were not aware of the intricacies behind the accounting procedures on casino floors. For Alfaro, errors in the regulation mean that the lawmakers responsible for drafting the document did not know how accounting management procedures of casino works. "The authorities should have asked what things could have been done and what couldn't have," he said.

However, Javier Said Acuña, Head of the Legal Department of the Directorate General of Revenue (DGI), said: "Casinos and slot halls know that the tax is fully in force and must collect it as established by law. ".

    Casino tax

As I said before seísmo this is a new tax, in force since the beginning of August.

You can see placards at all the cashiers of all the casinos.

That is is the Veneto, the trump, or the one beside Habanos.

    Enjoy.

    Casino tax?

I checked some gambling sites that I read once in a while but did not see any reports of this casino tax.

I expect to be in Panama sometime in October so hopefully some other people will report back by then.

Several years ago the company that owned the sportsbook in the Veneto also had several other locations. They must have had a bad week so they decided to create an imaginary tax on winning tickets of 5%. The other three sportsbooks in the area did not have the same tax. Needless to say, I stopped betting there. After about a week they only enforced the collection to foreigners that they did not know.

I saw a poker room try the same tax routine and they lost their game to another casino who valued the players.

Be sure this is a valid legitimate tax before you pay it. Call the gaming commission if need be.

If this is for real, sports betting is not beatable if you give up 5% off the top. Neither is poker.

The team that runs the sportsbook in the new casino in the Hilton on Avenida Balboa is fairly honest and I would like to see if I can get someone to check with them and report back.

Also keep in mind that the casinos mostly lease out the sportsbooks and poker rooms. Some even lease out table games and only keep the slots for themselves. Generally the hotel leases out the casino to one group, who in turn leases out the parts the do not want to take the associted risk of running.

If this is a real govt imposed tax I do not see it lasting too long as it will cost the casinos way too much in lost revenues.

    Thanks.

New TAX on money changed in Casinos

I know it is not about our sport but still.

If you are coming to Panama to do some gambling, please note that there is a new tax of 5. 0% imposed on all casino transactions.

IT is not only the winnings that are taxed, but all the money that goes through the cashier window. That it is in the form of chips, or of receipt from the one arm bandit, changing those to cash (fiat money) will cost you 5%.

So if you are really a cheap skate, you could offer to pay the provider with casino chip and get an automatic discount of the value of the tax.

    Well. Death and Taxes.

    Enjoy.

Panama depends on what you make of it

You can get a good looking girl in Panama for less than $100. There's the cheap, local brothels if you want them (although they're not for me). Then there's the Veneto, Habanos, Ashe circuit if you want to go for a pro. That's about $100 for short time. Then there's the strip clubs like Elite where you're looking at $400 minimum because of all the bullshit club fees tacked on. If you don't want any of this you can look online at the escort sites and in-calls. I'm sure there's some cheap deals to be had.

Overall though, it depends on what you want. I much prefer the Veneto. Habanos. Ashe circuit (I didn't visit Ashe on the last trip but will for my next one in a few weeks). I want to talk to the girl first, get to know her a bit, and try to make it more GFE.

If that's what you're looking for here's a protip: talk even to non-pros that are hanging around. You'll find, especially at casinos like the Veneto, there are gambling addicts that join in on the night life but aren't working. They tend to know the other girls and give you some useful information on what's going on.

More importantly, have fun. It's a mostly safe city with good infrastructure. It beats some other destinations.

Yeah, but you also said you were too chicken shit to go there because all the women had AIDS. You read too much.

Let me add two points to your excellent post. The first is that none of the lower cost alternatives you mentioned are unsafe. Guys are not going to get mugged going to or from Boca or its next door neighbor and they're not at risk of getting beat up inside. The second is to consider Boca a showroom. There's no requirement to do anything in back or upstairs so spend the $15, get them naked, check out the attitude and surgery scars and then take them out or make a date for the next day. At Boca they're all free to come and go and there are no bar fines. I'd much rather spend $15 to discover a bad attitude onsite before spending $150 to do it later.

And, if anyone can explain the big baseball trophies behind the bar at Boca, please do. Bars sponsor baseball teams all over the US but a house of prostitution sponsoring a team seems bizarre, even for LA.

And, and, I've been everywhere you mentioned. If anyone has more places, please suggest and I'll report when I'm there over Labor Day weekend.
WP, looks like you need to invest in a $20 subscription to Jackson so you can receive PM's. You'll be handsomely rewarded with useful information coming your way in return. I can give you names of other mongering locations and insights into PC.

From your earlier posts it appears you aren't afraid to explore some of the more 'interesting' sights to experience in the City. I like that adventurous spirit of curiosity. Let the timid Fat Cats on overly generous travel expense accounts who won't bother to learn 20 words of Spanish spend all their time and way too much $$ in Habanos, Elite and Ache. Fun places, to be sure, but a vanilla flavored Panama City at best. There is so much more to see and do here.

"I read that AIDS is out of control in Panama. Even with condom, the odd of meeting a woman HIV infected is almost a sure thing. I don't like these odds. ".

Not to pick on you or anything Old Chap, but if you truly believe STDS are so rampant in Panama, why would you worry about the price of pussy there at all?

Now this is for you guys out there contemplating a trip to Panama City. From my limited experence it's no Macau (Man Heaven), Manila, Brazil or German FKK Club. But it's still good hunting, especially if you are traveling through for a few days on a work release from Sex Prison (read USA). Why some try to incessantly denigrate the Punting opportunities in PC is just beyond me.

Pretty much that's the going rate in Panama.

There is some hole in wall casa where locals go for chicas at relatively low cost (Were talking less than $30). It's got an on-site suite, so you don't have to do take out. Apparently there are some gems mixed in with the 5's and 6's. However, I'm not 100% sure of the location or its name. Best to venture in with a local or ex-pat who can be your trusted wing.
