Many thanks. The only place I know in Yaoworaj is Hoi Tien Lao, a famous and elegant Chinese restaurant I haven't been back to in 30 years. I will check out the Shanghai Mansion hotel.

I highly recommend the Shanghai Mansion. It's a funky boutique hotel, the rooms are unique. It's a good place to stay, although way the hell off the beaten path. Until the MRT came onto the scene, Yaowarat was such a PITA to get to I stopped staying in the area.

I also recommend Tang Jai Yoo. If you like roast pig. This was featured on Anthony Bourdain a few years back. You'll need 4 or 5 people, probably, to justify the expense. Also, their curry crab was great, so I was told. Personally, I hate futzing with crab. A lot of work for little results. But the other 5 ladies I was with loved it.

I am neither new to BKK nor mongering but as it happens this will be my maiden mongering trip to LOS. Before there never was the opportunity.

Now having done my homework and compiled a list of must dos and hoping my fat self lives up to the expectations I would love to clarify if I got it all right.

I will be staying Soi 23, if I do it. Do it right LOL. Hotel is according to few available info GF. Soi4 and 30 in walking or one sky train stop proximity. MTR takes me to Nataree and co. Seems like the perfect storm.

I will write down how I will experience things and I normally try the whole spectrum (oilies, soapies, SW, BJ bars and social media as well as FL in beer garden and the Gogo's of course). Should give some experiences noteworthy.

Now one clarification. You pay upfront in MPs and Soapies unless you agree with the girl on extras not on the menus then you pay her directly and after? SW is up to you but after recommended? In the gogos the bar fine upfront and the girl when she leaves or all upfront?

I made another early visit to Crazy House, but they were already dancing and the quality was better than the first visit of the trip. And it kept getting better. Perhaps this was the Monday payday that people have written of. I could now see why this place gets raves. Well, I could sometimes see. Note to self: Quit sitting at the first table on the left when entering. You can only stare at the back of the waitresses waiting for prey for so long. I choose it to stay a good distance from the stage so I can see more better, though details less, and to avoid getting a curly hair in my beverage as has happened in the past in another establishment.

To my relief the previous lust, Mai, was not to be seen, so I perused the selection and settled on a naked #85 whose name might have been "Naul" or something like that. It seemed, based on various hand gestures, to mean "little" or "small", but perhaps she was opining that I was hung like a hamster. It was at this point very hard to hear anything other than what I assumed was a jet engine doing a maintenance run-up. It turned out to be the music. Not really my taste: I'd have settled for the engine.

There were immediate indications of trouble: She ordered -with, I hasten to add, my agreement, a double tequila for 330 baht. I had no problem with that: It pretty much told me that this was not going to work out, so I didn't have to waste my time and more money with a money sucking leech. Maybe I'm being insensitive here: Maybe she needed to drown her sorrows after one or more of her mothers died, or maybe she really needed help dealing with the idea of doing the horizontal bop with me, hamster dick and all. But pulling a decent BF is sort of like speed dating: You snooze, you lose, so I cut losses at the first indication of trouble.

She conveniently disappeared halfway through her dancing set and did not reappear by ten minutes into the next rotation, so I fled before my ears were further damaged.

But before we go I have to say that I was totally unaware of the nose issue until Syzygies pontificated on it. Now I cannot take my eyes off of some of those mutations. Holy crap! Thanks a lot!

Next was Suzy Wong's. An average lineup with one, in my mind, cutie. "Not", #49, is slim but with almost perfect-sized titties: Big enough to jiggle delightfully on stage, but not destined to be bouncing off kneecaps in a few years. Always knowing how to impress a girl, I scared her within an inch / millimetre of her life. After her stage I walked over to where she was chatting with other dancers. They were seated, she was standing back to the stage. I stood there waiting for a break in the conversation (good luck with that). Eventually another girl pointed to me. I had no idea I was this horrific looking: This girl had seen hundreds of mutated noses and STILL leapt the better part of a metre away from me. WTF?

I bought her a calming drink and chatted for a while. Seems nice enough, but certainly doesn't exude a fun, bubbly personality. I'm thinking starfish, but barring other to-be-found options I may give her a try. Details will be forthcoming should I go for it, but as I write this I am recovering from the Mother of All Other Options: A session with Benz at Snow White. More in the appropriate thread when I can see straight again.

I have to say that those coyotes do have some cute little asses. What a f*cking shame.

You are obviously a far more seasoned veteran in this department but I will venture to make my contribution here. Over the past 4 to 5 years I have exclusively turned my interests to Thai food when in Thailand but I do recall a couple of delightful places in Chinatown that I had visited back in 2009. A girl from Chiang Mai with some Chinese origins I met on that trip had taken me to these places.

1. Cotton. This restaurant takes you back in time for that Shanghai parlor feel. Its inside the Shanghai Mansion boutique hotel at Yaoworaj Road. The Fried noodles here were really good IMHO. A bit upscale.

2. Odeon. If you are up for a bit more variety try the crab noodle soup here. You have to ask for the size of the claw in your soup. This is near what Traimit and the big Chinatown red gate.

Speaking of more commercial ventures I liked the stuff at that little place inside MBK on Level 3. I forget the name of that place. Have not been there in years.

Then rents got too high so they moved to the street behind Pat Pong where they continued for years with a loyal following of Thai and farang noodle (and pork rib) enthusiasts. Now it is long gone and hope that one or more of you mongers will suggest a restaurant. I will be on Pat Pong for my mandatory thin crust pizza at the Madrid and the open air Chinese mom and pop restaurant at the mouth of soi 15, Sukhumvit for roast duck. Plus some more upscale places like Le Dalat near soi Cowboy and Gaggin on soi Langsuan. Thanks. Kaintuck.

I don't have much experience with closures. I went to cupidy once because a kind taxi driver took me there when I was at emmanuel and they were closed a few years ago. I reckon that I do not want to go back to Cupidy LOL (not a horrible place but, not a good place either).

Any know of last minute destinations on bar closure days such as today?

Syz: Thanks for the info Mai. I was toying with the BF idea, but only casually. I think I'll pass. And I agree: The better ones come in later. As I said, I had some serious buyer's remorse, though Mai was certainly not unfortunate to look at. One of the later naked girls was definitely pleasant to the eye. Last night I made my inaugural visit to Kasalong. I would have squashed it but hopping over like a sack racer could have compromised the integrity of the floor, and also I have no idea about the house and Buddhist policy on insecticide. So I just screamed like a little girl. Okay, maybe not. I laughed and pointed. Diap looked aghast and we relocated to another room, a room with a table and fewer visible bugs. I did note that no attempt was made on the little guy's life, so I'm glad I didn't go all sack-hopping ninja on it.

Diap's technique was very different from the norm. A lot of attention to the boys, which is always good, but the actual sucking was pretty interesting: Yes, some good, old fashioned head bobbing, but a lot or rapid rubbing of the tool across the tongue and fast licking. If you're into slow and sensual, go elsewhere. I imagine this is what a BJ would look like in an old silent movie. Pretty frantic. Frankly, I thought it was awesome. I am guessing your name is Jim, for obvious reasons. My Thai is pretty good. The nude dancing does not start immediately at Crazy House, and very much the B crew start dancing at the beginning. The better quality girls then start drifting in gradually up till 9 PM, mostly before that, depending on how much late fines they can handle. Some lose their entire monthly salary in fines. You have be there waiting patiently to get to the very best girls sometimes. Ging Gaew gets called to customer within 30 seconds of being available.

From memory Mai is one of the pretty ones. I think I bar fined her, but she was only so so. Did not repeat.

In an unrelated item I recall a discussion either here or perhaps on the General thread about cell phones and ID requirements. I don't know if it was ever resolved, so I'll add my experience. I have had the same number on several successive visits but, as I feared, it didn't even try to connect this time. I made a stop at AIS in Terminal 21 on my way to SC and learned that yes, it had been deactivated pending ID verification. I had brought my passport for this very purpose and the whole matter was done in about five minutes.
