Posts: 49Current Hotel Status as on November 2015
Hello Friends.
I have been changing my hotels stay from time to time due to Red / Green issues.
Many hotels like Fairmont confirmed green when I checked in and turned Red when I walked with a WG.
To my knowledge the best way is to check with the WG'S in the clubs or Pimps with whom we have contact.
They are the source of correct information's.
In my last visit in April I have booked in Sheraton Deira for a week which used to be super green all these years.
I was informed that it is Red when I checked in.
Stayed for a day (had no choice) and then cancelled my bookings for other days.
Walked in to the Night club late evening and WG'S there were giving list of Green hotels in the vicinity.
Messaged to the pimps with whom I had contacts and checked with them who were also giving the list of Green hotels.
From then on this became my strategy.

Posts: 87Question regarding "red" hotels, in general are the ones that are red like Hyatt regency or Grand Hyatt only off limits for "visitors" coming after you have checked in?
In other words, is it ok if you check in with your girl and have a room with double occupancy? I know some of the smallest hotels kick up a fuss if the 2 people checking in are of very distinct origins, but will that be a problem in any of the 5 stars which are supposedly "red" ?

Posts: 1192We are now stuck because the free zone authority has decided that we can not have more than 5 shareholders. There is no rule anywhere stating this limit, just the guy sitting there has decided that nobody needs more than 5 shareholders.
Improvement? Sorry, I see no improvement at all. Furthermore I expect things to get worst as the ruling families need to appease the population with a much smaller budget. Get ready to plenty of "tough on infidel dog" shit. My 2 cents.

Ramee Rose, Grand Millennium, Boutique 7 and Time hotel at Tecom are green, need original ID. Mostly the hotels confirm they don't allow visitors, while you check with them over the phone or by email! Because it's the law here! The decision to allow visitor to your room is generally made by the receptionist and / security team. Just be discreet and subtle while you walk in (as Wicked Roger mentioned earlier) and you could feel it more easier. When you book dbl room, you shouldn't be paying the surcharge at all, as it's the extra perk the receptionist make at night. Be bold and stand firm, as you already have paid for a double occupancy.

Posts: 46They'll continue as it is
Nope TKn, they'll continue as it is. It's just a merger and won't dilute the brand identities. In fact, Marriott members would be able to benefit their privileges at SPG hotels and the other way around. That's awesome. The green / red strategies are purely as per local laws or the individual hotel owner / management decisions, which affects us poor mongers.

Marriott is buying Starwood for $12.2 billion, creating the world's largest hotel company.

Starwood owns LMA and Sheraton chains hotels.
Do you think the status of the hotel will change from this acquiring?
