With Sixt they always provide repair estimate along with letter demanding their claim.

Posts: 635I know it's a 'love it or hate it' car to look at, but I still lust after the original M Coupe.

Posts: 6350I don't need a M series. If I'm actually living in Germany I don't need to rush around from club to club like a tourist. A normal BMW will suffice.

Looks like a bad location for bus (takes like 2 hrs from there, not worth it). So tricky.. I advice renting a vehicle(or get a better hotel location that fits travels easily). I'm starting to realize how difficult it's to get to GT now. Haha.

Your CC company will provide a "coverage letter" which the car hire company will accept. Especially works for renting in Europe I get the letter made up to include all countries I intend to visit on a trip and yes used National / Enterprise for FKK visits with no problem also saves about 12 Euro a day.

Posts: 4343Neurosynth. Thanks for the suggestion about credit card company.
Yes, the car hire company is within its rights to charge for the scratch, but not to take more than the cost of the scratch.
I do have separate insurance to cover this and will also try to involve that company as it will be footing the bill (I hope)

Posts: 65Goldentime Bruggen Shuttle Service?
Anyone familiar with the shuttle service offered by Goldentime in Bruggen? I am wondering how far they would be willing to go to drop you at your hotel, as I will be staying in Grefrath. Anyone used this service to get home at night?

Posts: 1160I had a case that, even though I had credit card car insurance coverage, took over a year to resolve. I dealt with it through Avis state side and the credit card company.
Credit card coverage will usually cover the whole thing because domestic car insurance doesn't extend to overseas. (This is the typical case, but perhaps not yours.).
My suggestion would be to scrutinize your credit card coverage for rentals, and if there is none, then dispute the charge on the credit card and demand proof. However, I think they are within their rights to charge you for the cost of the repair, but then not make the repair. The cost of the repair is the diminished value your scratch caused.

I know this is like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted but if you hire regularly you can get excess insurance pretty cheap. I paid under 40 quid for annual cover. Obviously it's no use for your current situation but maybe an idea for the future.
Let us know how it pans out. Good luck.

Hopefully you took photos of the scratch so Head Office would easily recognize the damage would not cost 1000 euro. Also good practice to take photos of all sides of the car before taking it out of the garage (if the garage is dim the second you pull out to daylight) and when you return the car, whether there is damage or not. Make sure the date and time on your camera is correct.

Posts: 4343Sorry if this is a bit off topic.
I am currently being scammed by Enterprise car hire and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas how I as a foreigner might succeed with challenging them.
On arrival to ich up the car I had alarm bells ringing as they were strangely insistent that I would lose up to 1000 euro in the case of damage (this excess is normal but it was their attitude which rang bells). On return there was a scratch on the car, but no more than other car hire companies normally ignore. So they deducted 1000 euros.
My problem is that after six weeks they still have given no details of the cost of repair and therefore are not refunding any part of the 1000 euro. I suspect that this is because the damage was so slight they are not going to repair it.
Any thoughts on best method to get any part of the 1000 euro back?
