I arrived yesterday to the city and I really like it. I don't think a greater percentage of those Western European and North American guys are carrying STDs than the local Greek male population. Not sure what you meant by health and safety reasons?

Logic would tell me that the local Greek johns are concerned about guys from countries that have not suffered as much from the economic collapse bidding up the price, and given that Greece is not a particularly hobby-friendly place anyway, the local brothels are concerned that if foreigners bid up the price, those local johns will retaliate by causing their closure.

It explains why most of the Athens reviews on the other English-language review sites are mostly from the relatively more expensive Russian escort agencies that always have providers in Athens. Those agencies are not viewed as a threat by the local John population, and at least some of money spent (primarily by foreigners and by wealthier Athenians) on the Russian hookers is then spent by those hookers in Athens on hotel rooms, food and shopping.

With brothels that is the policy for most of them (for health and safety reasons I guess). It is not because of the refugees. You are better off at a massage parlor like this one oasismasaz.com (charges start at 60 euro). I cannot guarantee that they accept foreigners though.
