Hello everyone,

I have read the forum in the past to get tips on places to visit. I had a great experience in Moscow a few years back. In any case, I am visiting Bogota for the first time. I have visited Cali a few times and had a great time in Clinica Dr Amor http://www.clinicadoctoramor.com/# where is a Casa and many chicas just parade in front of you, but chicas are divided in prices, where average girls are 60 k and hour and model / operadas are about 200 k hour.

As I got more comfortable with window casa shopping, picking girls at the street, and visiting the clubs in the Santa Fe area, my trip got better and better. These are my final notes:

I found an apartment day rental through booking.com at El Barrio las Candelarias Apartaestudio Candelarias Majica at Calle 12 be No. 3- 95, Candelarias. Centro Historico, Bogota for just 50 K per night or 17.

In the afternoon, I went for a walk to Santa Fe as I did every day. Some of the faces of the women that stand at the casas are becoming familiar and some are recognizing me from my walks and a few girls.

Day 1 Friday beginners luck.

After spending two nights of my vacation in South Beach Florida, I decided to stop wasting my time and booked a flight through Google flights. I got a great deal, a round trip flight from Fort Lauderdale to Bogota for just $160 via Spirit Airline. This is my first trip to Bogota, but already been to Medellin, Cartagena, Barranquilla and Santa Marta. Once I landed in Bogota, I checked if there was a bus going to the center of town and I found the Metro millennium bus for just 2000 cop or 70 cents usd just outside the terminal were the taxis were waiting. So I ditch the taxi. I travel light with just one backpack not too large so traveling this way is easy and don't like to take taxis to avoid scams and save more money. I also love walking and like to explore areas that way. I speak Spanish fluently and can pass easy for a local. A local oriented me with the metro millennium bus use and how to get to the city center in San Diego. He told me to get off at San Diego stop and from there I started walking around to begin to familiarize myself with the streets, carreras and barrios.

4 pm.

After getting out of the metro millennium bus, I went for a walk to explore the San Diego, Las Candelarias, and Santa Fe. I used WT69 map and information from the ISG Bogota listing and trip reports. I walked most time during this trip and hanged out in San Diego, la Candelaria and Santa Fe areas during day and evening hours. Universidad de Los Andes, Universidad Tadeo Lozano and La Universidad del Rosario, are some of the schools in the area. Then I found Hotel Dorado at Kra 4 No 12 D-72 in a very nice area of Candelaria, full of cool bars and restaurants. The hotel was only 27 k or 9 USD and I paid without asking any questions. But as soon as I got to my room, I found that this hotel is a dump inside, the bed cheap, the mattress cheap, the sheets and cover were cheap and bathroom was shared and outside the room. I regretted not looking at the room before paying, but then I thought it is just for a night and the next day I could find a better one or a hostel. This area however is as great area to stay, it has the universities near and there was party atmosphere everywhere and lots of young people from the universities and tourists, backpackers. It is also a colonial, an artsy area, Yippy Yappy, rock and roll, punk type of area. The loud music in the area and partying did not stop until 4 am so I did not get a good sleep.

Day 2 Strip club and finding el Dorado land.

4 pm--7 pm.

I went for a walk to Santa fe and did not see anything inspiring. The walk was 20 minutes from my hotel. I was trying to find the girl at day one but I did not see her on her spot. I left and walked towards the San Diego area. In the San Diego area I stumble into two guys that gave me a business card to go to their clubs, one called Stripper Show at Kra 10 No 15-13 and another called Casa Show International pasarelas at Kra 8 No 19-31 and I went inside Casa Show. I got a beer for 3.5 k. There was stripping and the quality was good, more than 15 girls inside and many customers too. The quality was much better in this area, and the street and avenues on the back of the Piscina Club. Since I just got drained and am not into sport fucking I went back to my hotel. I also needed a day to recharge. I noticed some hotels right in the center of the action and although I felt safe in the Santa Fe area, I did not want to stay in that area at all because it is sort of too low class and prostitutes where everywhere. I will need to recharge and gather my energy for the next day. I was happy that I found El Dorado land or two dorados because the girl at the strip club also said she was from a city call El Dorado. I found a decent local hotel for 37 k or 13 usd hotel Espana at Kr 7 No 23-20. This hotel is not high class but it has a good bed, the room is clean and has a bathroom. And it is just 10 minutes walk to Santa Fe and is located right on avenida 7 which is a really good avenue to be at, to walk, to find shops, restaurants and it is safe. This hotel does not appear to be chica friendly.

Day 3- Sunday window shopping 101 and a day to forget about.

11 am.

I walked to Santa Fe, and went sort of window shopping through the casas. There are no windows but the girls stand in the front of the houses or inside the car garages. The girls at most casas don't set their foot outside of the houses. Most stand inside. Perhaps this is regulation. I spotted one I liked at a Casa but I don't remember the name of that casa. I got stopped several times by Police in the Santa Fe area who asked me for ID and whoever that passed then. I had my passport with me and the police was polite with me. Please note that it is illegal not to have your ID in Colombia and you could get arrested for not having ID.

As I walked back to my hotel, a guy gave me a card of MP erotic place at Kr 10 no 21-68 3rd floor. I don't know if this place is good or bad. Well tonight, I'm checking in a hostel in las Candelarias, either hostal aventureros www.hostalaventureros.com kra 3 and 12 c-82 or hostal fatima www. Hostalfatima. I'm doing this just because I like to interact with other travellers, want to do some touristic things. I also want to be in a more social environment than alone in hotel and both noted hostels are well situated jwith free breakfast and 25 k per night.

Conclusions:

This city of Bogota is huge. There is a lot to be said about the mongering scene. I can only speak a bit of Santa Fe red light area. Just a couple of days is not enough to get a taste of just Santa fFe Zona Rosa. If you are into the sex clubs and strip sex clubs and picking girls on the street, then this is your paradise. For me, I got spoiled by Medellin and preferred Medellin to Bogota. I prefer looking at the chicas in more private settings and not in places where many people are watching. Also, I am not much into going into the clubs at night and this scene to be most prevalent form of mongering such as going to La Piscina, Troya, Paisa clubs, Las Vegas, etc. I think that the girls in Medellin even in the cheap casas are cleaner and wash themselves after a session. Maybe it has to do with the weather in Bogota and the fricking cold water in the shower that no one want to touch. The weather here is cool or cold and can get very chilly at night. Most places don't have hot water in the shower and the water feels like ice. In that sense I prefer Medellin. This city is also safe in relative terms depending of where you are and much safer than years ago. There are areas I was told that you should not walk (el Cartucho now called la L and Bronx) area near avenidas Caracas kra 14) barrios San Victorino, Parque Metropolitano, Los Martines y Zona Franca. I was told that people get robbed a lot or killed there to get their organs as there is some type of organized organ trafficking. Probably five years ago, I would have been killed or kidnapped just walking the way I was walking alone during the day and evening hours in Santa Fe, but today is pretty okay during the day and evening. I don't recommend walking alone at night or even during the day if you don't speak Spanish in Santa Fe. But day time is okay even if you look like a gringo. You still have to exercise good judgment and not to attract too much attention, and be vigilant or you are going to get screwed just like anywhere else in the world.

I haven't been since January (coming back 30 April for couple of weeks), but I was able to get some fairly reasonably at the Farmatoda near Commercial Gran Estancia (Conferias / Corferias area. Calle 24, I think) These pharmacies are all over the place.

First report here so apologies if I break any of the forum etiquette. This is based on two trips to Bogota in Oct of last year and Jan of this year.

Hotel / Lodging: I stayed the first time at Dann Carlton (the one on Calle 94). No problem with girls coming to the room with me--when I called the agency I just met the girl in the lobby. That was done on the recommendation of the agency; I don't know if it would have been possible to have the girl come up directly by talking with the front desk. No guest charges.

Second trip I stayed at an AirBnb that turned out to be an ApartHotel in the Parque 93 area (luxury hotel 93 park on airbnb) No additional charge and no difficulty in having the girl come up. I called the agency, front desk called when she arrived and that was it. No problems and no charges.

I preferred the airbnb for other reasons but either one is a good option.

Cell phone. I got a cheap local phone from Claro to use. Better to carry around and easier to have a local number.

Girls. I used solitasparati agency both trips. Photos are real and there's no bait-and-switch. It's a good idea to have at least three girls in mind when you call, since on multiple occasions I called and the girls weren't available that day. One time, none of the three were available but the lady who answered the phone recommended a similar type based on my picks. It's a pretty easy, drama free solution and you really do know what you're getting, at least physically. Service level varied by girl, but in general was good. They seem to have a fair amount of turnover with the girls so the only one still listed on their site that I know is Linda and service was good not great. No clock watching but not real GFE either. She is gorgeous though. I didn't use any other agencies (they have an affiliated agency called Niisha that I also used but the sites are interconnected) so I can't say how it compares but the lack of bait-and-switch was refreshing. If you have a local phone you can call the girls directly on their days off. You can negotiate that for either a cheaper rate or a longer stay (I went with the latter).

Loutron. I went there on a Wed afternoon just after it opened (maybe around 1 pm). The place is a little hard to find- it's a private house and a side street running parallel to the main street. It's directly across from an office tower and you enter through the garage. Security wands you and you go inside for the presentation of the girls. When I went there were about 7 girls, ranging from 5-7. I went with Jasmine, a girl from Bogota, maybe early 20's. Attractive but not strikingly so but good chemistry and good performer. I got a couple of beers while here and I don't remember the exact final tally (sorry, it was a while ago) but I remember thinking it was high. Maybe COP 350 k. The location was convenient where I was staying so I went. Hard to judge the place on an off-hours visit. I'm in no hurry to return but if I were local to it I'd check it out and a better time.

I stayed in the same hotel in Jan. Chapinero is not the best, but I wouldn't say it's a shady neighborhood.

On my uber ride back, near my hotel around a turn where a club was closing, these 3 weirdo crack heads started talking to me through the window, and actually started chasing the uber in full sprint for a bit when it start to pull away. It was the only time I felt in danger in Colombia.

However, it is known as a gay neighborhood. So those guys were probably just high and horny after hitting the clubs and wanted a piece of their gringo ass. The reason, is as you stated:

I'm trying to figure out where in California you could be from that never requires a jacket. Even Ridgecrest is chilly this time of year and having spent a winter almost homeless in San Diego, I know how miserable the weather can be.

As far as weather goes, year round, Bogota beats just about any place on the planet. Humidity is low, temperature almost never leaves the 45-80 range, cool at night, warm during the day, 12 hours of daylight year round. No swarms of mosquitoes or flies to deal with. Just not much to complain about. Even many of the more upscale hotels don't have air conditioning or heating. Other than rainy season, you're almost guaranteed good weather.

Granted it's a potentially dangerous city, and Santa Fe isn't the best area, especially at night, but what do you expect in a city of 8 (census) to 12 (ask a local) million people? Try a midnight stroll in South Bronx or Ford Heights in Chicago, or East San Diego, Compton, Watts. Every city has places best avoided at night.

I'm a bit confused about the relationship between being attractive and getting upset about being ripped off? Don't ugly people get upset when they are ripped off? I always thought that was universal.

I'm not trying to beat you up over the report. It just seems you let the one real issue, overcharging your card, taint everything about your brief stay. Bogota is better than that, but it requires some research and you were tossed into a situation where you didn't have the time for the research.

The guys who chased the Uber outside the club, just a guess, had probably called for one and thought you had grabbed their ride. I'm not saying it couldn't happen on the street, but not many thieves are going to chase after a moving car.

OK. Well not sure what the weather report has to do with anything LOL. But to clarify, I don't fly on vacation 10 hours to wear a jacket. I hate the fucking cold. It's why I would never live on the east coast. Why I would never vacation in Europe in the winter or go to Alaska LOL. And it's why I don't want to go to Bogota on vacation. Compared to Medellin which had amazing weather for me and Cartagena, which was hot but still preferable to Bogota's cold weather for me, Bogota would have to be better in all other aspects for me to care enough to have to walk around in pants and a jacket. Be careful when using Uber. The chick came to see me at the airport and said she paid 25k for a taxi there. She wanted me to spend the night with her so we went to a hotel close to her house on the north side. When we were leaving about 4am the guy at the hotel for some reason could not get a taxi on the phone. So I called up an Uber that was close. I did not know until after I got my receipt that there is a 15k surcharge for airport trips. The total ended up being 39k. Highway robbery. And the funny thing was that as soon as we were pulling off in the Uber a taxi appeared in front of the hotel.
