I made the gigantic error of spending my bday weekend in AMS instead of with my GF in sunny SE Asia. This was my first trip. I encountered rain and 60 degree temps. I didn't heed the warnings. Ams is expensive (think LA NY HNL) and the Euro doesn't help. So the potential to get laid by 5 different chicks for the price of 1 night of lodging in AMS was out the window. I recently got back from a trip to Amsterdam. I managed to fit in a visit to Love Club 21 and to Park 118. Neither was a wonderful experience.

LC21 was very busy. I was to wait a room with a bored looking Thai girl and another punter who was strenuously avoiding eye contact. I was given no choice of girl but I saw a few wandering around. I always fly into Schipol which is the main airport in amsterdam. It is attached to a train station that will take you directly to central station (walking distance to the RL). There are also buses to all major hotels. You can check but if you are staying at one of them, you won't even need a taxi. If money is not an issue (if you are on company expense) check out raddison blu. It is literally a block or two off the RLD.
