Long term CTG report
Gents,
I've been living and working in Cartagena now for several months and here is my report with facts and subjective experiences and suggestions.
I have some questions at the end.
Clubs.
Isis: Nice club in the old city with some real lookers, but not overly friendly compared to other joints.
I'm yet to take a chica out of there due to lack of chemistry and better (value) options elsewhere.
Quoted price 300 K including room.
Pley Club: Better vibe in my opinion. Sessioned with an amazing and friendly Paisa, and took the number from a stunning Caleña who I'm yet to follow up.
Paid: 275 K including room.
La Dulce Vita: Bar in El Laguito. Minimum spend of 80 K (may have changed) pesos at the bar before you can take a chica out.
Met a super hot negra caleña with tits and ass for days there, and sessioned with her on two amazing occasions.
Paid: 80 K exit fee + 200 K to chica + 16 k motel.
Rosario House: More like a brothel, but has a nice bar, and seating area where you can have a drink and chat with the girls.
Shabby but clean rooms on site where the chicas live.

Strip Clubs in Cartagena: Isis and Pleyclub
I visited the two main strip clubs in Cartagena (CTG), Isis and Pleyclub, during my week there in early September 2016. They have the same ownership and business model, but my experiences at the two clubs differed significantly; I am uncertain as to whether or not that difference was the luck of the draw, an indication of differences between the two venues, my own fault, or a combination of the above. My experiences in CTG nonetheless overcame my previous resistance to mongering at Latin American strip clubs and made me regret in retrospect that I did not go to any strip clubs during the first week of my trip in Medellin (MDE). I will make strip clubs a higher priority during my next trip to MDE.
I had previously been reluctant to monger at strip clubs due to concerns about clip joints, bill padding, and hustles and minimums for overpriced drinks, especially since I abstain from alcohol while mongering. I would have had no objection in principle to the higher rates for the actual sessions at strip clubs if those higher rates yielded a higher quality of service, but what I had heard about the level of service in some of these establishments did not inspire my confidence in that regard.
I had a rough first night (a Saturday) with some of the independent chicas in CTG due to payment issues that forced me to abort two sessions in a row (I will report those incidents in a separate post). Given that baptism by fire and the realization that Sunday night would probably be slow for independent chicas anyway, I decided to try my luck at Isis instead, which had the additional advantages of an early opening time (9 PM) and a location just a few blocks away from my Old City apartment. Isis is also just a few blocks away from the Clock Tower, so it is worth swinging by there for an hour or two before the Clock Tower gets busy at around 11 PM. The other advantage of Isis over the Clock Tower is that you can sit and watch and talk to the strippers in a comfortable, air-conditioned environment at a leisurely pace, rather than standing in the sweltering heat and horse manure smell of the Clock Tower and trying to negotiate a good pull in a 2-5 minute conversation.
Another, more important advantage of Isis was the line-up; in my opinion, the only hotter girls in CTG were at Pleyclub. With that said, my taste in women differs from that of most other gringo mongers; I have a strong preference for the tall & thick, tits & ass type that made me want to come to Colombia in the first place. It appears in retrospect that Colombian strip clubs in general tend hire those kinds of girls. The line-up at Isis (and Pleyclub) had a much higher proportion of such girls, which impressed me right off the bat. The downside of Isis (and perhaps Pleyclub operates in the same way) is that they seemed to have the same line-up of girls throughout the week; I went there four times and saw mostly the same girls. Both girls that I pulled at Isis told me that they have to work seven nights a week.
The other problem with Isis (and Pleyclub, which operates in the same way) is that there was not much actual stripping. Some of the girls explained to me that the girls do not get on stage until the club has enough of a critical mass of customers, which may not happen until 11 PM or later. Even then, only one girl dances at a time, and there is often a lot of downtime between performances. At most, you will see three to five girls dance within an hour. This point is critical for me because, in my opinion, the whole point of a strip club is the opportunity to see on stage what a girl has to offer, both in terms of her naked body and her ability to use it effectively, before you decide to pull her. Otherwise, a strip club is just an expensive nighttime casa where you can talk to the girls before you pick them. This guideline served me well at Isis and yielded two great pulls; when I forsook this guideline at Pleyclub, I ended up regretting it, although there may have been other problems with my selection anyway. In retrospect, I am also kicking myself for not "test driving" strippers with lap dances when there were not enough girls on stage, or when none of the girls on stage appealed to me.
My main concern about strip clubs – drink hustles and minimums and general pressure to buy alcohol – turned out to be a non-issue at both establishments. There was no cover charge. The only requirement at both establishments (they have the same policies and even the same menus) was that your first purchase be 14 K COP or more; I went with Red Bull (22 K COP), which had the added advantage of giving me the energy that I would need for my sessions. After that, I just bought bottles of water (6 K COP) to rehydrate my leche supply. In a total of five visits to both establishments, no girl asked me to buy her a single drink, so if there is a hustle for drinks, I somehow miraculously avoided it.

I knew that it was in a bad neighborhood (especially at night), but that knowledge did not prepare me for the sight of a presumable homicide scene on the cab ride out there. The cab stopped at an intersection, where a dead body with a bloody head wound lay on the pavement, just next to the sidewalk. A police car was nearby, as were some police officers and other random people. I had not seen a dead body, let alone that of a victim of violence, since I was in Iraq years ago, so this sight admittedly caused me some anxiety, which may have thrown me off my game once I got to Pleyclub.
Pleyclub definitely had the hottest girls in CTG, just a notch above Isis, but I found the atmosphere less friendly and welcoming than that of Isis. It took a long time for the girls to get on stage, and the girls that eventually went on stage were not to my taste physically, nor did they impress me with their on-stage performances. My mongering use of Tinder in Cartagena
As a virtual mongering venue, Tinder yielded more consistently favorable results for me than any of the traditional physical venues during my week in Cartagena (CTG). None of these Tinder pulls were bad, and all of them were at least satisfactory. One of my four Tinder pulls yielded one of the best sessions that I had there; please see my post on Venezuelan chicas in CTG for more details on Mailin, 32.
The other Venezuelan chica in that post (Maria, 26) is also available on Tinder, although I pulled her from a physical venue (Space). Spotting the chicas is not an exact science, however, and on a few occasions I mistook a normal female user for a working girl (there were more non-P4P female Tinder users in CTG during my trip than I expected). If her intentions are not clear, the best way to clear them up is to ask her what she is seeking on Tinder. If she is a working girl, she will usually respond to that question by self-identifying as such.
