I'm a newbie and visiting Kiev for the first time next week. We all start somewhere and sometime. First, I admire the dedication of the contributors to the site. Couple of reasons:

1) Virtually every time I've been there (which admittedly is 3-4 times) it's been a sausage fest, with guys way outnumbering girls.

2) It's pricey for what it is.

3) Even when it's empty it can still take forever to get served. It's a bit like Shato in that regard.

4) Last time I was there they tried to charge me for 4 whiskies I never had and it took a 10 minute conversation with the manager to get it sorted. All the while I had a gorilla standing at my shoulder.

It really does have potential to be a cracking venue, but the sum of the parts just don't come together for me. I'd prefer Shooters any day for this type of bar.

Coyote Ugly doesn't seem like a good bet to me, either, although for different reasons.

I guess I was there mid-week and it was not too crowded, certainly not a sausagefest. In fact there were some nice looking girls there.

But the music is so loud it was impossible to have a conversation. And you couldn't really linger at the bar because one of the waitresses was stomping all over it.

Your first challenge will be getting in the door on a Friday or Saturday night, both places operate fairly strict face control.

If you do get in, expect a fairly busy bar with girls either loitering by the bar or sat at the semi-circle tables. They are unlikely to openly signal themselves as P4 P, although if they're alone, or with a GF but barely talking, your chances are good. Prices at both places are premium, you'll be unlikely to take anything for under $250 (expect them to quote $500+). Quality looks-wise is generally top end, service very rarely matches.

Do yourself a favor, go to Shooters near Arsenal or Podol. If you really like clubs, try the*Lux. Avoid Coyote Ugly at all costs.
