I spoke to a Thai friend who was a cop. He implies that one of the ways that Prayuth and the dictatorship are impressing the locals is by tackling police corruption. Everyone in business pays the police, even street vendors. So if every week people see on TV some racket getting exposed and shut down, they see that Prayuth is a man of his word. I believe the Honolulu Love Boat was renamed to Long Beach a while back, but referred to by either name or both together. I haven't visited any of them for several years as well.
