In about 100 visits to Tijuana in last 2 years, I had just 2 occasions that I encounter with Mexican police.
I am an Asian and anybody can tell easily that I don't live in Tijuana, but I try to minimize my time on Tijuana streets.
My first encounter was when I accidentally cross the border with my car, and I just left my car at HK valet, and enjoyed the night. On my way back I hired HK valet guy for $10. Stopped twice by politia, and they accused me of being drunken, but when I asked "uhhhh, by the way I am not a driver here, right?" . Well they released me. It was really hilarious situation. The valet guy drove until right in front of ramp to the border and went back to HK.
The second one happened just last week, and it was not a pleasant experience at all. I was walking toward ped west at around 5 am, and at the police box on the middle bridge, one male and one female police stopped me, and insisted that I have to go to downtown Tijuana police station and wait for the trial, because I was walking on the public street drunken.
Duh! Never heard of punishment for drunken walking. Anyway they insisted it is on the Mexican law, and I need to talk to the judge. I spent about 30 minutes for arguing with them, nothing worked until I showed them my wallet and gave all I had.
I didn't suggest the bribery blatantly. Asked whether we can find other way of solving the problem.
Luckily I had $10 and 120 pesos. The guy gave 20 pesos back to me. I hugged them and left the scene. Haha.
While arguing with them, they kept emphasize that I should've taken the taxi. Maybe he is partly sponsored by the taxi companies.

I, as gringo looking as you can get was moving around all over the city the day after the election and I was still greeted warmly wherever I went. One thing I did notice during this election year was whether it was the cab drivers or meseros or bar girls everone had an opinion on american politics. I just don't remember it ever being like that before. Only thing that changed from election night to the next day was a slight increase in the amount of pesos you got for your dollar.
Now as far as having pesos in your pocket instead of dollars, so it is less likely you will be robbed by the police, don't know if I buy into that. Plain and simple regardless of what's in your pocket, if you are a gringo and you are in the zona norte you have a huge target on your back.

But don't buy what you read or hear in the Mexican news. The USA can do just fine without Mexico. Remember those US companies are going to pay big tax fines for taking the jobs to Mexico some of those companies will close down and probably move back to the US to avoid the penalty tax fines.
If US manufacturers decides to bite the bullet and pay Trump taxes they will be force to lower Mexican workers salaries.
Let's not Forget there are many other latin American countries they would be very happy to bring those US factories to their country.
Trump plan is very clear he just wants to bring the jobs back to the USA.
I think the Dollar will go much higher to the peso after Trump takes power.
Mexico inflation will be higher that's great for the Tijuana visitor bringing Dollars but the girls are well trained and they just keep jacking up the prices no matter what currency you have. So dollar goes higher and so are the prices.

Posts: 894I agree. I'd notice I look blonde and blue eyes when I carry dollars in my wallet but I look pure Mexican with pesos. Sometimes I carry dollars mixed with pesos in my wallet and I don't wear my Hawaiian shirt anymore does it make me look a typical gringo tourist?
I fooled those cops all the time with my look they don't know I'm a tourist because the zona is only exclusive for the locals.
I'm curious How do you hide your tourist profile if you're Asian or black?
BTW what typical tourist looks like I haven't seen any in the zona Yet.

Cops jack up gringos in La Zona far more often than they do in other parts of Tijuana. Anybody who spends any time outside of LZN knows this.
Cops do so because it's a target-rich environment (lots of potential DUI, public intoxication, drugs, etc.) AND because the gringos carry dollars. A $20 or $40 mordida is FAR better than a 200 p or 400 p mordida.
Nobody said the cops only take dollars. They prefer dollars (as do most BG and SG if you hadn't noticed). They look at a gringo carrying lots of dollars differently than a gringo carrying pesos.
Your statement that a cop can do anything, and take anything, is pure BS and smacks of somebody with zero experience in this sort of thing. If a cop could take anything, from anybody, at any time, then NO street in Tijuana would be safe from those predators. The Zona would be a ghost town because every gringo who showed up would be robbed blind, including their "nice watch. "

Posts: 53So with Trump going to win this election do we think we might have any repercussion in Tijuana especially around our safety being mostly white males?

Old members like myself probably remember good ol Country John, Blue Balls and EFjayel.
The last time I read Country John post he was living in Tijuana with his Mexican Girlfriend and he was having fun arguring with KOS and King of Sluts. EFjayel used to post a lot here but I haven't read his posts anymore it is sad to see all of them gone.

Does anyone know why some girls give you a bruise on your penis skin similar to a small hickey but they do it with their fingers and don't tell me it was just an accident?
I'm not sure if they do it so your girlfriend or wife will find out I know it means something.
This happened to me twice in two different times with two different AB girls. I hate when they do that.
