Just got back from my Prague trip. It was completely worthwhile. I wrote a set of two reports, one on the basics of how to get around and where to stay, and another of my actual visits with the local beautiful women.

I did a ton of research before traveling to Prague, and compiled a set of general travel tips, restaurants, sights to see, etc. Into a Google Doc. Send me a PM with your email and I am happy to share, and I have also attached a detailed 20 page doc based off my research and a spreadsheet I used to collect info on the gals, clubs, and privats. Open the TXT file in Excel or another spreadsheet app as tab delimited, this is a list of the solid providers / privats / clubs based on ISG reviews.

First, a few tips.

Study: That's right. Study a little bit. You're spending money to go to a city. Lots of money. More money than you probably should spend but life is short and blady blah blah. The least you could do while you're trying to sack Prague like Atila the Hun is learn some of the history of the city. The easiest way to do this is to read a couple of books on it. Yes, read. The books are short, and there is lots of useful info in them. It allowed me to hit the ground running with a low level of discomfort, and within a day I was standing tall.

A Couple of books I recommend. They are all available on Amazon.com, and they are all digital / Kindle. Be smart and pay for Kindle Unlimited for a month at $9. 99, which will allow you to read these books as part of the subscription.

Most of these books are quite short, so stop complaining about your homework assignment. Sheesh. I am not going to retell everything in these books, but will share some of the things I learned.

Arriving in Prague: You can take a taxi from the airport, but there are overcharging risks (although everyone I met said that is largely in the past now). If you are a little nervous about a taxi, call your hotel and arrange a driver. It doesn't cost too much more and it is nice having a driver waiting for you when you get off the plane.

SIM card?

Yes, you should get a Czech SIM card for your phone. If your phone is unlocked (most smartphones are, but check with your carrier. Call or stop by the local store, tell them what phone you have, and ask if it is unlocked because you are going on a trip and want to put a local SIM card in. They can look up the info for you. I have an iPhone 6 from Verizon, and it is unlocked automatically.

Why get a Czech SIM? First, your call and texts will be answered, even if you only speak English. I switched between my US SIM and Czech Sim to test this out, and only once or twice did a call to a privat get answered on my US SIM. Also, if you have a Czech SIM your text messages WILL be sent and received. This is key you will often find yourself needing to send or receive text messages letting the privat know you arrived and getting the button to push, for instance. If your text messages are buggered, this will fuck things up.

Get a Czech SIM at the airport. After you arrive, clear customs, get your bags, and all of that other bullshit, you will walk out like just about any other airport and be in a concourse with a bunch of people waiting for friends or family. You'll know what I am talking about because the drivers will be there with signs that have names. Look for a Costa Coffee and directly across from it is the Vodaphone booth. Go there, the person will speak English, and say you want a SIM. The specifics of the plan are up to you, but get a couple of hundred minutes and a couple of gigs worth of data for your time. If you don't use it this trip, you can use it the next. And yes, you can refill the SIM.

If you don't get the SIM in the airport, stop by a Vodaphone store, or another major Czech carrier store. Not sure where the are? Ask the hotel. Not staying in a hotel? For fucks sake man, do I look like Google? Look the shit up!

Learn the Metro system.

Without a doubt the easiest way to get around Prague is the Metro and tram system. The subway system is very clean, safe and efficient. Unlike the US, Czech metro and trams work on the "honesty" system meaning you do not always pay when you get on a vehicle, or walk into a station. However, an enforcement agent can pop up and ask you for your ticket at any time (I saw this once at the subway exit), and if you do not have a ticket or pass, you pay a significant fine. If you are a foreigner, the agents will actually walk you to an ATM to pay the fine, which I think can be a couple hundred US dollars.

Avoid that problem, get a ticket or pass. It's amazingly easy. If you will be in town for 3 days or more, buy a Travel Pass. A tourist travel pass comes in 1 day or three day lengths, and the clock only starts on expiration when you actually enter a tram or subway and use the little stamp machine to begin the clock (these are little yellow machines about the size of a parking meter). You put your pass in the machine ONLY the FIRST time you use it, not each time, and that starts the countdown. If you are going to be in town for a week, buy two 3 day passes. Stamp the first one, then 3 days later stamp the next. Get it?

A 3-day travel pass costs 310 CKZ ($12 USD), a one day pass costs 110 CKZ ($4. 29 USD). Travel passes are not sold at every station I believe you need to get them at the Mustek or Museum metro stops. And weirdly enough, you do not buy the passes at the Metro counter, you get them at a little soda / lotto shop near it called TREBEK. If you can't find it, ask the ticket person behind the glass, they will tell you.

Having a pass will make it much easier for you to hop around town. While there, I saw girls on the other side of the river near Vlatvska stop (near the technical museum), near Mustek and Museum tram stops in Old Town and New Town, and a few privats along Vinohradska near the Flora and Podebrad metro stops. Having the pass made my trips much quicker and easier than trying to flag a taxi or having my hotel set it up.

Download the map to your phone and save it, I think you can save as a PDF or JPEG.

Don't want a travel pass? You can try to figure out the ticket machines, and for that I wish you the best of luck and Godspeed because the things are as confusing as the wiring diagram for the moon lander.

Make it easy on yourself. Send an SMS text message with the content DPT24 (for a 30 minute ticket) or DPT32 (for 90 minutes) to the number 902 06. You should receive a response message in a minute or two with your actual ticket. Can't get much easier than that.

Some tips to keep in mind on the metro and tram:

METRO STOPS: when you go down the long escalator to hop on the metro, you will see a long horizontal sign in the middle. This sign has each stop of the train, and your CURRENT station will be highlighted on this sign. If you need to travel to a stop listed to the right of your highlighted station, go to the train on the right. If its to the left of your highlight, go left. That simple.

Learn the end of the line names: it was often easier for me to determine the right train by knowing the stop at the end of the line. So, for instance, if I was at Mustek, and needed to go to Skalka, I could look at my map and see that the end of that A Metro line was Depo Hostivar. Looking at the sign, DEPO HOSTIVAR was in big bold letters, no brainier to head to that side to hop on the subway.

Inside the metro train: 1) you need to push the button on the door for it to open. Don't expect all the doors to open automatically like they do in NYC. 2) there will be a map inside the train car, and an electronic sign that announces the next stop. There will also be announcements of the next stop.

Rent a bike:

Prague is not the most bike-friendly Euro city, with a lack of dedicated biking lanes and a lot of hills. Still, I found it an excellent way to get around. I rented a bike from PRAHA bike for 5 days, they dropped the bike off at my hotel and picked it up from there, AND they also picked me up from the airport. Cost was about $95. Prahabike dot cz. Advanced Tip: get a good smartphone handlebar mount and use your phone as a GPS. You can do this because you are fucking awesome and followed my previous directions to get a Czech SIM, right? Recommended: Bike Mount, EMIUP Universal Cell Phone Bicycle Handlebar & Motorcycle Holder Cradle with 360 Rotate from Amazon for $7. 41. Works with almost any smartphone and is very durable.

Where the Fuck is the street name and address?

My first six hours in Prague was a study in how the fuck does anyone know where they are going. Street signs are not on a corner pole like NYC, and most buildings have TWO signs with numbers, one red, one blue.

Let's keep this simple.

Street signs are posted on buildings, not on poles. They are red and rectangular, and sometimes you need to look around a bit to find it. Therefore, use the GPS idea I posted above as a backup so you don't look like a fucktard staring at a map all the time.

Address signs? Real easy. The building number is the BLUE sign. The red sign is used by a government tax department. Look for the blue sign above doorways, and that's your number. If a privat texts you that an address is Slavikova 19, look for the 19 on a blue sign. Again, its easy I actually found it easier than figuring out NYC or DC building numbers.

Is my hotel girl-friendly?

Many people post questions asking about girl-friendly hotels. I stayed at DEMINKA PALACE, which is girl friendly. DEMINKA actually locks the entry door so you need to buzz to get in, like an apartment building, but a simple buzz on the meter will get someone to unlock the door for you and nothing has to be said. Therefore, girls can walk right up the stairs to the room and avoid going by the desk.

Not every hotel is arranged this way. Some you will need to use your room card in the elevator. So, be ready for heading down to meet the girl outside or in the lobby and then walk up.

Here's the deal nobody really gives a flying fuck that you are taking a girl to your room. Seriously. You're nervous, but they have seen it a thousand times. Unless you are bringing home a gal dressed as a hoochie momma street working girl, you will be find. Act like you've done this shit before, and no one will care. So no matter what hotel you stay at, you will probably be fine.

Where to stay?

Girls and privats are located all over the city. Several of the clubs are along or near Vinohradska, or near Wenceslas Square. In other words, there is no "ideal" place to stay, but I can tell you somewhere NOT to stay do NOT stay in the Jewish Town or Old Town areas. You may be thinking "why not dude? There are tons of shops and sights to see there. ".

True. Its also an absolute fucking pain in the ass to walk through it thanks to the number of people. Have you ever walked on a narrow city street, and there are three people in front of you strolling along, taking one step every six seconds? They are walking so slow you want to elbow them in the back of the god damn head? If you haven't had this experience, it gets old quick. And that is the entirety of Old Town.

My recommendation: stay in New Town, or near the National Museum. If you simply HAVE to be on the square, go no further than the MUSTEK metro stop for your hotel. If you go any deeper into Old Town, I cannot be held responsible for you wanting to criminally beat the shit out of slow walking tourists.

The other bonus of the National Museum area you are at the intersections of Metro see, A, and a shit ton of Trams. You can get anywhere from here, and get there quickly.

Saving Your Shit.

If you do not have a google account, get one at google.com. Start a Google Drive, and store everything in there as far as documents. Store your notes, your metro / tram map, your list of contacts and phone numbers, and hopefully even a copy of this report. Download the Google Drive app to your phone. You will then have access to all of your data. And if you are smart, enable the OFFLINE mode on your Google Drive app so you do not always need an internet connection.

Tax Refund.

Prague has a 21% VAT on many items, and that tax can be pretty hefty after a while. When shopping, look for stores that have the Global Blue tax free sign. If a store does not have the sign posted, as if they participate in the Global Blue tax free program.

If you spend 2,000 CK in a store (73 Euro or 78 USD), they print a special GLOBAL BLUE receipt for you. Fill out this receipt with your info (name, address, etc). Tuck all your receipts from your shopping in an easy to find place. Lots of people will advise you that it's not worth your time and effort, but if you're a spender like I am, it is indeed worthwhile hey, 21 percent is 21 percent, right?

Here's what you need to do:

1. Request a Taxfree form from the store. They may ask to see your passport when filling out the form. From my experience, however, Czech stores are very lenient about this.

2. You will want to fill out the form before you get to the airport, as it will save time in executing your claim.

3. At the airport, before you check your luggage, go to turn in your paperwork at the "TAXFREE for Tourists" desk, located right next to "Oversize Luggage. " At this time you will need to give the inspector your:

Taxfree form.

Airplane ticket.

Passport.

The inspector will then review the form and might ask to see a specific item as proof that the merchandise is actually being exported; this does not happen often, but better safe than sorry (this is why I recommend you stop here before checking in). The inspector will then stamp your document. You can then slide over to the window to your left, literally right next to the Tax free for tourists desk, to get your refund, so long as the Czech Republic is your last EU stop.

If you miss this window, do not worry, you can get your cash back after you check in.

4. If the Czech Republic is your last stop in the EU, then, once you've checked in and passed through passport control, you can proceed to the "Global Refund" desk to collect your refund.

Just remember this no matter what, go to the blue Tax free for tourists desk before checking your bags in. The people behind the counter will be wearing official looking uniforms. You got to get your receipts stamped there first before checking in bags.

Useful Apps.

There were a few apps I downloaded that were very useful, and highly recommended.

XE Currency app a super easy app where you could plug in the Czech Koruna cost of something and it computes your currency equivalent. And it is very easy to enter different currencies to see whatever your country equivalent is.

Google Drive keep all of your files accessible. Create a spreadsheet of the privats you want to visit with their phone numbers, or a list of the independents, for instance. Put your maps in there, etc.

Google Maps: use it as a GPS. Other cool think about Google Maps is you can create your own map and mark locations of things you want to see or eat or do. I created a map with about 150 different things on it, and I can share it with you if you want to access it. Send me a private message.

WhatsApp and Viber: handy apps to send text messages to privats and indys. However, if you have a Czech Sim, its not really needed.

DPP info a great app from the Prague mass transit system that not only tells you the closest station or tram stop but also when the next train comes. Just tap on the FROM field and you will see a list with the closest stations along with the metro, tram, and busses available from there.

Beer.

Prague, for a beer lover, is like Jerusalem, Mecca, and Las Vegas combined: a city that is a religious beer experience that can only lead to bad things. Almost anywhere you go will have excellent beer. Just walk in and ask for a pivo, prosim (beer, please). Also know that the water / tender will not ask if you want another beer until every last drop of the current one is done, so don't be a pussy and leave a finger's width of warm beer in the bottom of your glass and expect a refill. Drink it.

If you are a craft beer fan, there are lots of great places to go. Near the main areas, I recommend BeerGeek, 20 PIP, and Illegal Beer. If you feel adventurous, take the Metro A (green line) all the way to the end at Depo Hostivar. Walk about 10 minutes to a place called Malesicky Mikropivovar. Excellent collection of local craft beers. While you are out there, walk a block away to a restaurant / pup called Puda. This is an area devoid of tourists, so you are getting a really good local experience.

Also remember that many pubs and restaurants in Prague are communal tables. Don't be surprised if the place is busy when someone asks to sit at your table, and don't be afraid to ask the same. In fact, if the place is busy you should ask to sit at someone's table, even if it is in English. My best chats with locals were made this way.
