I need to chip in on the Taxi as well, with many weeks working in Prague over the years.

There is nothing good about AAA taxi and everyone I talked to in Prague say they are the biggest rip off and should be avoided. Of my trips with them it has been a hit-and-miss if they try to get foreigner price or local.

Melissa mention the only viable choice in my mind, which is Tick Tack Taxi. Their level of service is fantastic when I used them. They go out and open the doors, leather seats, got water bottles and iPads etc etc. Sure you don't want to sit looking at a iPad every time maybe. But the price is very cheap going around town and foremost reliable.

And I still don't understand why so few people know about to stay away from the big companies like AAA in favor of more modern solutions like Tick Tack!

From my travels I would say Prague is in the top 3 worst countries when it comes to cab drivers. They are full fledged bandits there. So taxi company should be chosen wisely in this city.

I have to disagree fully with the above. I life more than 10 years in CZ. In this time I used taxis very often, in the beginning nearly on a daily basis. In all these years I was cheated 3 times by a taxi driver (each time a random pick up. Which I agree, should be avoided).

The bad reputation of the taxis is highly exaggerated and is based on the old times more than 10 years ago. I found AAA taxi the most reliable company which never let me down. A lot of their taxis are modern and the drivers speak English. By phoning them to order a taxi, they send you an sms with the approx price quote, which makes it very difficult for a driver to cheat you. In case of a cheating driver, phone the police before paying, quoting his name and license number. This will work wonders and the driver will most likely accept only reasonable fare to, get rid of you quickly.

You noted AAA taxi, which can be fine, but this really depends who will arrive. I also found AAA Taxis to be reasonably priced and reliable when I arrived at Prague on a Sunday evening. In addition, the driver gave me a discount voucher (I think it was 20%) for the return trip from the city to the airport.
