Did you happen to visit La Ceiba and San Pedro Sula and what did you think? Just from looking at Youtube videos it looks gritty. Good hunting grounds IMO.
My concern with someplace like Tela would be what to do at night. Is there anything going on in the town or do most people stay in at night? Dining past 8 pm?
Thanks Again.

Posts: 3860Which Coastal City to Visit?
If you had to choose one honduran coastal city to base yourself in which would it be? It seems like La Ceiba makes the most sense because it has the best beaches and is accessible from other areas of the coast. I am looking for better food, shopping, and things to do.
Does this make sense?
Anyone been to Omoa next to Puerto Cortez?
Thanks.

Posts: 109Over the last month at my local bar / hangout (in the United States), I've had a woman regularly come by me and say "Hello," to me. She looked vaguely familiar, so I always said "Hello", but my wife and I couldn't for the life of us figure out where we knew her.
Last night, she came by and gave me a hug and said "Hello," to my wife and walked off. She was with a group of other women and from the way they were dressed, I realized that they were Honduran. I thought, "impossible!" The last time I went to Honduras was 2003 and this woman didn't look to be a day over 30 (but obviously I'm wrong because I don't touch minors). So, I waited until my wife went for a cigarette and then walked up to her and asked her where she knew me from. She said, "you used to fuck me in La Ceiba. " My name is Rose. Then I remembered her.
So, if you remember Rose (or Rose Petal) from La Ceiba. She is alive, an adult, beautiful (though large around the middle) and doing well in Seattle.

I am planning going there next week, can you please give more insight, where you stayed in San Pedro Dula, La Ceiba, and Roatan? Also the cost ad safety. How is the action in these places, what is your recommendation.
Thank you so much.

La Ceiba it's quite possibly the weirdest place that I've ever been. I've traveled to roughly 40 countries maybe which is a lot less than some of you but certainly more than most people. I was on my way to go scuba diving in Roatan Honduras and I stopped in both San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba several times. These stops were not strictly speaking necessary but I wanted to check them out and I thought I could have some fun. And in certain ways both of them were memorable.
In La Ceiba I met a nice taxi driver who introduced me to a young woman, maybe early thirties. She in turn promised to introduce me around since she said my Spanish was great for a gringo. She introduced me to a number of women who were quite attractive and I took each of them out for lunch or dinner or whatever. In addition there were several clubs that you could go to at night that were filled with women. It wasn't exactly clear what they were looking for. They were not professionals by any means and so you couldn't just say I'll give you x amount of pesos. On the other hand they definitely needed money and they were definitely looking for something from gringos. There were all sorts of weird adventures with these women both the ones that were in introduced to and the ones that I just met at clubs.
One of the ones that I was introduced to we had a nice dinner and then she came back to my hotel she was beautiful one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. I suggested that we make out and probably implied that there would be some sort of present later. She kept saying later later but she wanted to watch a certain TV program I kept trying to make some progress and she kept watching TV. I guess she was waiting for me to fall asleep but there was a guard and I don't know how she would take my stuff and leave and her friend knew where she lived. But I wasn't falling asleep like that anyway. Finally at 3:30 or 4 in the morning I made one final attempt and she said she wanted to see the end of the show so I said that's the end of the night and you have to leave. So I got her out of the hotel and there was like a steel gate that could close behind at night for more security in the front of the hotel and she asked for money and I said maybe I'll give you once the gate will close and the gate closed and then of course I wasn't going to give her any money. I spent like 12 hours with her and I have no idea what she hoped to accomplish. I don't have a photograph of her but I still think about her and how beautiful she was. Ironically if we had had sex I probably wouldn't remember her at all.
Lots of weird encounters that did not make sense. I think a lot of the girls were messed up on drugs and had no idea what they were doing. Exciting place with lots of people socializing in a small area. Very few Americans and lots of pretty chicas. Fun but strange vibe.
