Firstly, apologies for asking for information but I have just had an opportunity to visit PP next week & I don't have long to make the bookings. I have read back over several pages to find hotels recommendations but I'm having a bit of trouble finding many. I've seen the Lux Riverside on ST 136 mentioned & being completely new to PP it seems that would be a good start.

Is this correct & are there any others that might be better that I should consider?

Most of nicer hotel is near Riverside area and the budget hotel is near the central market, It all depend on your budget cost of hotel is much cheaper than other city like Bangkok, if you want a nice hotel the Naga World casino hotel is about 100 USD a night with a night club where you can pick up girl.

If you read the forum, even going back a few posts, you would see precisely how the pricing and the system works at this old establishment. If you put LE Cyrcee into the search engine on this site, you would see that they used to have an onsite room but have not had onsite room for years. I heard that this has as much to do with the local authorities as anything else.

Yes, of course you can find freelancers who might go with you for less although I think you will find that not only is the $20 fee for the girl a thing of the past, so is Martinis and I think Walkabout. The latter was known to have the highest incidence of HIV and other STD nasties around.

While freelancers in the old days were sometimes shy but always willing to spend long time with barang who had enough money for beer, food and something for the lady, nowadays you may find that your phone or money may also have gone walk about along with your freelancer. Which is why so many of us like to stick to bars where at least in theory there is comeback, even if only through reputation of the bar.

The great thing about LE Cyrcee is that it is open in the afternoon (when most freelancers are still in bed) and unlike various massage places is not hit or miss and you can make your choice. The costs are well-known too and you don't have to bring the lady back to your room. The girls are vetted and clean and know their work well. And long may it stay that way.

I think you will find that your freelancer is going to cost you something like the same, maybe $30-40 (she may say LT but mean ST) plus drink / food plus taxi plus whatever she can steal back at your place while you are in the shower. It could cost you a lot more and the experience be a lot worse.

You can of course go to the local brothels and find much cheaper especially if you can speak Khmei and have some front but IMHO that is not the experience that most Western men are going to relish where the girls are going to be rough, the decor nasty, a higher chance of being robbed and rushed action.

Hi NokBKK. None of these things are surprises. The $40 is the standard, has been for a while (I first paid that in April last year). The bar charge does include the bar fine, and the short term room is to the right and across the street as you leave Cyrcee. The 2 dollars she hit you up for, for motorbike, was just her way of getting a little cash from somebody who didn't look inclined to tip! So, don't feel bad--you didn't overpay. From your references to Martini's and Walkabout, I think your Cambodia knowledge is a bit dated. TTG.

Martinis used to be a great FL venue I used to visit every trip, but I'm pretty sure I remember reading that it had closed down a few years ago.

However, I got the feeling from other sources that PP might be a bit more laid back, and there are good bars that are primarily for the purpose of drinking and some bar girls are on hand if you are interested.

Did you really like Thermae that much? I did take a girl out of there my first night in town, but I think the girls there are mostly wasting their time. I liked the convenience of taking a girl to my room up in the Ruamchitt Plaza and then sending her on her way

I guess there are a couple of large outdoor type bars on Street 136 where you can drink and have only a few girls around. Guys in those bars always look like they're having fun.

As for laid back, it may be the case but the issue with PP you may have is that many times when you walk into a bar you will be the only or one of 2-3 customers. Girls are on you like stink. At Cyrcee for example you will usually be the only guy in the bar and I still remember the first time I walked in and 20+ girls swarmed me and a few were fighting for pole position. I usually have no issues buying a lady drink for 10-15 minutes of DFK and HJ / BJ in a PP bar. Maybe not so much at Cyrcee but most bars have some nice girls. Khmer girls are way more genuine than those BKK girls. In all my Cyrcee visits I've only seen 2 nice girls, Ah Pov and Sela. If you took away Thermae in BKK, I'd much rather spend a week in PP than BKK.

My experience in BKK is limited and I quickly decided I don't like the hustle of dealing with girls out of bars, and no I don't really like the go-gos and girl bars. Either. Some guys like those places, some of us don't.
