Two illegal brothels in Melbourne have been shut down following police raids on massage parlors.

A 38-year-old Ormond man has been charged with knowingly and recklessly carrying on an unlicensed sex work business and possessing proceeds of crime.

"Those people running these facilities often put their own selfish desire for profit above the wellbeing of people and we won't tolerate that," Senior Sergeant Marilynn Ross said in a statement.
