North Pattaya has been a traditional Thai holiday or relaxation venue for many years, but South Pattaya is very different. Does it really have anything much outside of hookers in Walking Street zone?

I have heard of plenty of guys holidaying in Pattaya, without any intention to use hookers, but why? Maybe I am far too old to understand. I understand Thais going there due to easy proximity to Bangkok, but surely there are so many more beautiful beech destinations in Thailand. Is the nightlife still exciting if not interacting with hookers? I also remember years ago, Thais liking Pattaya because it's a wild place where they don't have to be prim and proper, however girls are not so prim and proper any more in Bangkok. Lots of very provocative dressing by girls these days.

Maybe it's the wrong place to ask, but what are the non-hooker highlights of South Pattaya? Is the beech there usable these days?

If I wanted a beech resort with beautiful nature, I would recommend, Krabi, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lipe & Adang, Koh Samui in February. Amazing Crystal Calcite cave Tham Kaew Komol in Mae La Noi (Mae Hong Son province). That will make you forget all limestone caves. Ancient Ruins in several locations. Amazing waterfalls in several provinces, temples, etc. Lots of interesting places to go in Thailand, for non sexual purposes.

Trying to make Pattaya respectable seems ridiculous. Thailand should just concentrate on getting rid of girl trafficking reputations, girls on contract, and that other special forbidden category. Teach girls more to reduce quantities of single mothers. However nothing wrong with girls making money by selling sex.

At least through early May, when I get my ill-deserved six nights in Pattaya. Let us hope that the junta is not so foolish as to cut off a major revenue stream, the goose that laid the. You know. Those Chinese tourists would have scant interest in Walking Street (or prolly any other part of Pattaya, save the agogos; and rest assured that soon -- very soon -- they will shed their dowdy second halves and do battle royale to supplant the Japanese as the next 3-3-3 crowd. Clamp down on the sex trade? Well, let's see how condos sell in Jomtien when there's nothing but the skinflinty Russkies left. Without the girls, Pattaya (I don't even like to dip my toes into the water there) is little more than AC with a toxic shoreline. Reports of imminent death are premature. I love the place to death. Yet love is fickle, and let's hope the dummies don't blow it. And yet there seems to be an ingrained national deficiency of logic. To be honest you have nothing to be second guessing yourself regarding your English. That is why I thought I had said something in the past which might have offended you that cause you to make such a statement because like you I never had a problem with any of your posting. In fact, if I could write as well as you even on your worst day I would be proud of myself. There are a number of guys like yourself, Goatscot, etc. That can write long or short reports and state their point clearly. These days I rarely post not that I'm staying home but pretty much don't have much to add from the guys on their holidays. This might sound funny but I'm not only reading but look at how it should be properly written although it is a sex forum.

Which is crazy. I mean WTF is the point of WS if not for the Gogos? The tourists who are not mongering come to gawk at the girls and the bright lights. What else is there to do? Discos? Restaurants?

Hopefully they will give up once they realize that this will virtually eliminate any Tea money they can collect. Not to mention the damage it will do to the economy in Issan and other poorer regions.

Don't worry about Soi 6 or LK Metro until you see tourist buses pull up. WS hasn't been good since the Chinese showed up in herds.

We have to worry about LK Metro and Soi 6 because the military junta have ideas about changing all of Pattaya into a family destination. They want to get rid of the sex venues; and take all the sex out of Walking Street, etc. They're too stupid and obtuse to realize that they can have it both ways if they play it right.

There are plenty of venues for families -- Water Park, crocodile farm, tiger zoo, Nong Nooch Gardens, beaches, shopping malls, go cart tracks, and on and on. Walking Street is not a good place for families and kids and it won't be even if the go-go bars are gone and if that happens Pattaya will suffer economically. If the junta has their way Pattaya will become a ghost town.

I don't see families going to Soi 6, 7 & 8, Soi Buakhao, and LK Metro. The Chinese herds don't go there either. Yet Those herds see Walking Street as a novelty. They go to the go-go bar in swarms, drink one beer and leave as a swarm. I Never see them by drinks for girls much less bar fine them. They're a pain in the ass to us mongers, but they spend money on hotel rooms and restaurants and in that way support the economy. I just wish that the military bozos would get out of the business of government so we can finally get back to normal.

As for depending on WS I think the majority of the board loves iBar / Insomnia. I hate it with a passion but pretty sure it will be difficult to replicate after it's gone.

Pattaya, like Chon Buri province has been mafia run for a long time. Godfather, Kamnan Poh, had his youngest son installed as mayor and another son was Cultural Minister in Yingluck's government. The kickbacks from Walking must be enormous. A little uncertainty can act as a lubricant for the grease. Seems he recently received a Royal Pardon for his murder sentence. That should send the junta a pretty strong message about who his friends are.

Police has instructed the club not to use the rooms in club for 3 days from today. Girls has to walk with guests to rooms next soi. Girls are also asked by manager to wear proper dresses, no shorts, jeans etc.
