As time dragged on I asked the man checking me in if there was a problem with the booking. I got no response. I waited more then asked again with no response. After the 3rd round of this I was blunt and said "I've asked you 3 times are you going to answer me or not?" he simply said "no problem". What's the deal with a 15 minute check in? I never did find out what the issue was, perhaps the request for a non-smoking room. As we finished up the transaction I had to ask for my passport back that was still in the copier. I also had to ask for my CC back that was at the other end of the counter. The room was OK for me. It did not have any lingering smoking smell even though there was an ashtray in place. One of the small lights did not work and I called to have it repaired. The same man took that call and no one ever came. WIFI was good but some confusion about which router to logon to. I never had to use the password provided and I was on some open router within the hotel. On day 2 an American manager was in the hallway with an assistant chasing this problem and asked to see how I was connected as I arrived back at my room. Apparently they had a problem but I did not. One morning when I went out I forgot and left my phone in the room. I never really used my phone in AC. When I got back to Manila and tried to book a Grab Taxi I had no money left on my phone. I know very little about tips and tricks of such things and I'm left wondering if the maids removed my Globe SIM card and transferred the balance to their own number. The phone itself is password locked. OTH maybe I just used it all up. When it was time for check-out I stopped by the front desk to get that going as I had a bill from The Living Room bar on the top floor to settle. I had breakfast while they compiled that. After breakfast I went to settle up and as I offered my CC the clerk refused it and said "oh no sir, you've already paid". I could have walked away from a 7,500 P bill but that is not my style and I got her back on track. In some ways I think this report is just reflective of experiences while mongering in Asia. Still, next time I'll stay at ABC as was recommended to me.
They needed to get a 4 year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management to obtain that degree of incompetence.

    ABC Tower 4

I was chatting with a friend of mine today who is a frequent visitor to Angeles, and usually stays at ABC for a couple of weeks at a time. He told me that the pool and pool bar areas of Tower 4 (the new tower) are getting extremely popular. Despite his VIP status at the hotel, he could not get a room in that tower, so obviously the hotel is doing very well. I'll be back there the week after next after an absence of about 3 months, but won't even try to stay in the new tower as the older rooms are fine for me.

I do look forward to seeing what the Aqua Club looks like after dark, as it was not open the last time I was there.

I had booked 4 nights into Queens just before you posted this. Maybe I should cancel Queens and up my budget a little. I'm not even there yet and they cannot provide a non smoking room unless I upgrade. This probably belongs in the AC Hotel thread.

The guy staying in the room next to mine in Central Park was staying with 3 girls and a ladyboy.

    Tomobe Hotel

Does anyone have any info regarding Tomobe Hotel in between Red Planet and Savannah Hotel? I see it advertised at $16 a night. I am wondering about the cleanliness, working hot water shower, towels and real non smoking rooms. Thanks for any help in this.

Good to hear from you again, too! Been awhile since you conquered Burma while you ditched your family in the lilliputian rooms of Grand United Hotel and scuttled off to the Emperor (only 5 minutes away, as you proudly told us!) after putting your family to bed. And what a feat that was: there's no couch in the rooms there.

    Angel bakery

The coffee is good. They can give you a sliced and diced mango on the side. Good luck getting a seat. They're hard to come by at certain times.

They open at six or maybe they don't. At 6:07 I approached.

X: what time do you open?

    A: We're not open now.

X: Okay, but what time do you open?

    A: 6 am.

X: That was ten minutes ago.

A: We're not open (says the lazy fool wearing a cook uniform).

And the cook can make an egg without fucking it up which seems to be a talent in short supply in the PI. They also have fresh squeezed OJ. Additionally, they serve the usual over-salted and indigestible Filipino breakfast items which will be to the liking of your morning-after Filipina date.

The owner is German and he serves perhaps the best of the wurst in AC. The female staff has been there for years which should tell you something about the character of the place.

I am smitten by one of the waitresses there. Her name is Sunshine. She is tall for a Filipina, maybe 5'7". On the sunny side of 30, delightful face, a charming manner and by her flirtations she appears to be in the market for somebody. Who will be the lucky one to claim her as his trophy?

    Thanks.

    Golfinho

Good to read your comments again. Missed your lovable personality from the Burma thread. I actually did not stay in the cheapest room. It was in one of the rooms with the couch in it. . Also, when in AC I mostly stay at the ABC hotel. Not the cheapest option. Cheap I am not. I am not surprised Golfinho, that you continue to be the asshole and the bully that you are. Would love to meet you in person and straighten you out you little prick. FYI-will be back in AC in Sept. But, what really surprises me is that you are into girls, because you are such a bi*ch. Go figure.

I always handle my women gently. Learned long ago if you get rough you put a hole in her and she deflates. Oh, you mean the Pinays?

I like the place (staying there again in May) but I agree about the absurdity of the number of room types. One would think that if they were a little more realistic and cut it down to, say, three, they could have a couple non-smokers per type. Size-wise I've always been satisfied (that's what SHE said), but I take the Superior or Superior Deluxe, so the middle tier of their stack, which have almost half again the space of the cheaper ones. That is one of my criteria in shopping and I always check the square feet / meters. Being in a walk-in closet for a week in a place like AC would really suck, and not in the good way!

I think your name calling is less than helpful and entirely unnecessary because it turns out that ignorance is not the same as too cheap or miserly.
In context of the specific guy -- Conquered val -- complaining about room size, who responded to you, yet failed to give to you helpful information, I. E. What type of room he stayed in, I sought to clarify in order to assist you. For a hotel of this size to have 6 different room types is an absurdity, which you'll soon see if you decide to extend your stay. In the future, I'd offer the suggestion of doing more research yourself: contact hotel directly, tripadvisor, or agoda. And be prepared to pointed questions. Good luck.

Get the deluxe balcony overlooking the pool and you'll have no problem with size or smoking. As for girls, I've had three - no problem. Although this was before the renovation last fall. Since then, we've noticed presence of German manager (or 'owner' or whatever he is)- an on site kind of guy: see him upstairs in the game room getting drunk with his pals.
