I was refering to yellow sweet bananas, not plantains. To add more intrigue to the banana story, I recall a RD chica who said she did not like the yellow ones, but she would cook up a plantain for an evening snack several times a week, she weighed an even 100 lbs and ate more per day than than me at 185. Also recall chicas saying they didn't eat them because they were fattening. When I ask chicas what is their favorite fruit numerous say apples and grapes. Mangoes hanging from the trees along the sidewalk and they want me to buy them $5 lb grapes from Chile, and $3 lb apples from donaldlandia. Don't shoot the deductor. Bart said the girls do not like bananas because their conception is that poor people eat bananas. Well everyone on this site rages on about how poor the girls are, so it would stand to reason that the girls eat bananas. Maybe they just do not want to eat them in front of Bart because they do not want to "seem" poor. Or either they are not as poor as everyone here lets on. Or it could possibly be that banana level poverty is below their own level of poverty.

I have seen a few locals eat bananas. In abundance, I see locals eat green and yellow bananas / plantains that they cook. Plain fruit, I tend to see them eat more mangoes, pineapple, melons, apples and papaya.

Yes, Dominicans cook green bananas called "guineo" quite a lot, and also green and yellow plantains. Yellow plantains are called "platanos maduros". They don't seem to eat sweet yellow dessert bananas as much. Watermelons (sandia) and cantaloupes are popular and the other fruits mentioned here. They use the word melons for honeydew melons, not for the red ones, which are sandia. They also seem to eat green Kiwi fruit in fruit salads more than Americans do. In the DR fruit salads are commonly served as breakfast.

When I was with my ex in Higuey we went to her aunt's (who was retired and middle class) house in the mountains / country. We went out in the fields to gather mangos. When we got back her aunt showed us her storage area where there were plenty of freshly cut banana stalks. We took a bunch home and my girl made me mango banana daiquiris (with my guidance and supervision of course.).

I luv bananas, I eat one every morning before my first coffee and it settles my stomach, 10 years visiting DR and never has a chica excepted a banana from me when offered in the morning when I have one, or any other time. I find the same thing happens in Colombia. When I have asked all chicas have told me they don't like bananas, but I think it has more to do with they think only really poor people eat bananas, so they say they don't like them.

Like the big black girl I met in BC who went nasty on me when I didn't pay her enough (she initially said she didn't want money, because she was not a prostitute). I admit OK shares good reports, offers good information, and great incentives for guys to come to the DR and Sosua. I believe you are relatively new to this forum, but the poster you are talking to is one of the biggest violators of pointlessly criticizing certain individuals who shared their trip reports in the past (before you came). He's calmed down a lot, because a couple of us would get in his ass about some of the things he shared. And so today we tend to avoid interacting. But you are relatively new to this particular forum, and don't know the history.

So you don't know he used to criticize me personally, and certain content, in my trip reports when I 1st started sharing my encounters, good bad and indifferent. Mr Enternational shared his stories likewise. The man didn't like some of Mr E's perspective. He said the man was a "legion" in his own mind. He keeps saying that I'm paranoid. See it was ok as long as the critiquing was going one way. But he has a problem when the critiquing comes back to bite him in the ass. So what is more important here?

Everyone's right to share their trip reports without pointless criticism, or is it about simply supporting one individual you happen to like? If its the principle you believe in, then you should support everyone's right, not just selectively addressing Mr Old Kool. And just because you never witnessed or was here seeing him critiquing others TRs, doesn't make him a victim now.

I shared a plate of ribs and fries with a young lady at Rockies it was way more then I could eat and I enjoyed having company. I was not trying to fuck the young lady, She was someone I met casually.. I was not threatened by the chicas friends. I handled the situation with no issues. Ergo the difference between us . Still the various forums are full of judgemental posters (not necessarily active mongers) who want to be the Monday morning quarterback, right down to telling what path they should have take to get to where they were going on foot. I wasnt beating around the Bush with her. I had no interest in fucking her or giving or getting a massage from her. But since she came at me begging to come over, I felt like engaging her in finding out what else she has to offer? As far as she is concerned, I'd rather get my house or clothes cleaned, a pedicure or manicure than fuck her. What I was getting across to her, was the problems of having no money is not my responsibility. I used to give spare change to only two people, the guy on the strip that walks with a bad limp and can barely talk, you all know who I am referring to, he has been there forever and makes the rounds. I found out that he was offered ten thousand pesos a month to house sit for someone all expenses paid including transportation and he turned it down saying that he made more money begging on Pedro Clisante, one day my buddy refused to give him money and he called my buddy every four letter word in perfect english, so much for his speech impediment. The other person is the real old woman on playa Sosua, another one that I am sure everyone knows, she has been there forever and is the oldest looking person on the beach and hits up literally every single person from one end of the beach to the other. My waiter at my spot told me that she makes more money than anyone on the beach and lives in a huge house.

Not related, but years ago I had been talking to this chick in Peru online. She was from a different city than the one I always go to so whenever I was in town she was never in the capital. Finally she moved there and next time I went down we went out together.

First we went to an ice cream shop, then we went to see a movie (think it was the first GI Joe). When we came out of the movie and stood on the sidewalk I asked her what she wanted to do next.
