Sorry if this meanders a bit but thought I would cover a bit more general CM info as well as your questions.

Just a P.S. On the Sideline thing to start. Your chance with CMU (Chiang Mai University) girls are not good at all (and that is being very nice). It is the prestigious university, requires a lot of money to go there. The girls here have money, cars, fashion, rarely stray from Nimman, and eyes on a Thai sponsor / husband. If you find out the girl is going to Rajabhat or Payap your chances improve markedly, more so with Rajabhat. Even then most would prefer long term Thai sponsor. These girls need the money. At uni they will usually hang out in the Thai bars / clubs in Santitham. Post univ the CEC / Boxing bars are littered with graduates some last ditch husband hunting at 30, or kids and father Thai shot through so again not many in their early 20's). Like most of Thailand late in the month when money is short sees numbers of part timers and Line availability pick up.

Freelance wise for me is just a big no no in CM. Along the eastern inside road of the moat you will see them sitting on benches from about 10.00 pm. Not the same as Nana parking lot at all, older, bigger, below average as you go north along that road you come to younger and very much dirtier girls (after Thapae Gate). Age would be an issue here and language ability and skill level. Strictly no no with it for me. Throughout the whole length maybe a dozen tops in number.

Around the same time of night the outside Eastern road of the moat becomes lady boy freelance groups. Maybe a dozen tops in number again.

Around 11.30 at night you get a few more freelancers on Loi Kroh, less than half a dozen I suppose. These are not bar girls (they are still at work and if need baht will negotiate at bar, or go Zoe or Yellow etc). Freelancing in CM they have a greater chance of being seen by coworkers and is just not a good look. Age, looks are working against these freelancers. CM bars do no have that high a standard so if a lady freelances only in CM (as opposed to getting a Line ID from a bar girl for a day time meet) I genuinely believe that there are problems to be avoided. They are basically predatory on drunks coming out of the bars and will hang around until they think no more will come (or it gets cold or raining). A few lady boys are in this mix / area as well.

To be fair I really do not go out to Zoe at all. If Techno / Rap / Trance etc, backpackers, DJs, dancing is your thing then by all means go and have fun with pick ups the secondary aim. It's a Backpacker Digital Nomad type place as far as I am concerned and for me that just puts me off. The other thing is that Zoe and Spicy were handy when the bars closed as they were open later (Spicy sometimes till sun up) so you had a lot of bar girls going to these places after finishing up at their regular workplace. If you are aged 50 or so upwards you will stick out in the crowd That does not happen at the moment for a few reasons.

Problem post junta is that CM were closing for along time at midnight (including Zoe and Spicy) but now most bars as well as Zoe and Spicy stretch out to 1. 00 am On Loi Kroh most nights you will see the police coming round at that time to check. There are some semi lock ins but no neon lights, doors drawn, music turned down or off type scenario. No one wants to (understandably) push the envelope. Arthur has correctly mentioned that the best years of CM as a mongering venue are well gone. You can have fun for sure, but if that is your sole reason for coming to CM then there are far better destinations.

Another reason it is low season so maximum girls descending on Zoe / Spicy after their job for minimum punters, not worth the effort. The bar girls might go there very occasionally for fun but they pretty much no that nomads and backpackers = no money. You do get a fair amount of youngish Thais from Farang geared hostels, guesthouses, fast food joints, restaurants going there for fun nights out dancing and chatting and taking selfies.

Another reason is that it is now the start of the rainy season in earnest so most girls / ladies will just kick off home if they have made enough money on lady drinks for the next days food. Financial planning is not a Thai bar girl attribute. Eating is.

I do not want to be down on the CEC / Boxing complex. I go there maybe once or twice a week, usually on Sunday at the moment when it is dead quite just to have a yack with a few ladies I have known for years. It is more or less a social visit not a mongering visit. Sundays and Saturdays the bars will have fewer girls and clients. Reason being is that the tourists are usually hitting the walking street markets that occur on these nights.

As far as Go Go venue is concerned, they are all within walking distance of each other (Spotlight a bit further out). Not really my scene. The venues are a lot smaller than Bangkok and once you have seen Bangkok clubs as far as standard of girls, number of girls, music, dancing, costumes, general attitude and professionalism. , CM clubs quickly lose any appeal. Some like Spotlight, some Foxy, Star XIX have never heard anything good about. Foxy would be my pick simply because it is a short walk from the CEC Boxing bars so if no joy you can double back to the bars. I am trying not to sound negative but in CM it is just not a case that a particular go go is "the" place to go. Much like the Spas (Sayuri / Pandora / Celeb) it is pretty much the same standard so I look at other factors like how to get there, what next, is it worth the travel time to A over be etc Go Gos have very few girls dancing most times single digits, a few layers of clothing, and shuffle more than dance as far as I am concerned. Again I have experienced the odd good night, as opposed to consistently good nights in Bangkok.

IF you are staying for a brief period like a week with no Thai language skills, at this time of year (raining and low season), I would generally stick to the CEC Boxing bars as you can wander from one to another easily, Foxy as a go go (or Spotlight a bit further walk) or Star XIX which is adjacent to the CEC Boxing bars but just not my scene (but again its a one minute walk if that for you to pop your head in so why not). Spa wise again there is no "the" place to go. Celeb wins for me as fixed price, not rushed, familiarity, no transport issues, enough of a selection through the day more so in evening after say 7,00 pm, Farang friendly no problem at all, papasans not pushy.

Mongers want different things as far as size, age, skin tone, PSE, GFE, language, silicone, bar theme, music style, volume etc and CM is just not big enough to cover all tastes. I actually enjoy going to the CEC Boxing bars but more to play pool, have a chat with a few girls, and just generally have a relaxing fun time. I am going to enjoy myself rather than monger (not that the two are mutually exclusive). I do have one Burmese 28 year old that I take out of there maybe once a week or fn. Not a stellar body but always fun with a great attitude, after a few drinks and she is well on the way to enjoying herself. Never had a problem with her. Stop at Tesco to pick up a few items for breakfast, romp at night, wake up romp in morning, she gets up showers and cooks breakfast, I get up shower and eat breakfast. Works for me.

Location based apps such as Wechat are a no go for CM. CM is strictly a Line ID place. Because of the amount of PRC tourists that is all you will find on Wechat. For a while only ladyboys in CM used Wechat but even they have given up as Thais were basically swamped out of it. Line is the only way to go in CM.

Anyhow. I have the Line ID of some 23 Spas in CM that cater primarily for Thais (so we are not talking about Celebrity or Sayuri). A basic level of Thai is critical for most (but not all of these places). Most accept Farang no problems, others are a bit exclusive and you being there can actually put Thai penis envy punters off returning so some businesses are just an absolute no. And to quote Racey "some girls will, some girls won't" as far as having a farang client. Sort it out on Line first do not waste your time or theirs. Girls are all in their early 20's at latest, some uni, all small framed, baby damage nil, silicone nil though very few have the odd nose jobs, even tattoos are pretty much a nil. This is what the local Thai demographics requires.

Most have daily updates on their Line ID with information and photos of who is working when, promotional deals, and a few cost outline or services.

If you are familiar with Thai and want to give it a go you could start with these as illustrative:

Raspeberry Spa is a good example of a daily updated Line home page. There Line ID has picture of the girls, new starters, who is on roster so you can reserve a favourite if you want.

Little Mermaid Spa will take Farangs no problem. Some English is spoken there, not a lot by any means, some days none. It is a favourite of visiting Chinese Singaporeans who again are not big fans of Issan tans and there are a few fairer toned Chiang Rai girls that speak Mandarin. Has pictures of who is on shift and is open noon till midnight. This is probably the easiest one to get to as off Chang Klan.

Miss Spa is an example of one of the bigger spas. So popular that a few of their Line accounts reached maximum subscribers and hence the 02 addition to the current Line ID. There Line ID web page often shows costs (IE B2B 1600) and phone number and hours open (10.00 am to 2. 00 am) so handy for the early in the day time.

If you are taking a tuk tuk ask for a landmark (restaurant or bar is a good idea) by Line or Google map away otherwise expect to pay more. I ride an mc so not much help there but for Little Mermaid there are a heap of bars / restaurants and as said it is just of Chang Klan which has numerous drop off points. I think the Singaporeans get dropped off at some Korean restaurant opposite so maybe find out the name of that. Having said that. Its August and will soon be persisting down.

There are SideLine agents. I have two Line Ids and am known to them I am sorry but I am reluctant to post their Line ID's as do not want them flooded with google translate requests. I basically use them now and rarely go to the Spas except when there is a new girl and / or a promotion and a day time visit. Night time more uni students are off so a lot better with sidelines. CM being an uni town there are basically oodles of sidelines. Again, not all farang friendly as some are just plain scared of size, language problems, body odour, services required, etc etc, you name it.

I would personally stay away from some of the web based Thai sideline forums featuring adverts for CM, not so much an issue with tracking but rather some "sideline" girls seem to have been at University for many many many years and really not up to the standard for spas or agents and I think this is why they freelance as sidelines. A lot of these girls have photos on their Line ID and I have sincere doubts (standard of Thai university education notwithstanding) that they would want a brother, uncle father neighbour finding out. Here I am talking about smaller Thai sites like nongsldotcom.

If you can speak Thai then there is an option to pick up the Line Ids for sideline agents the way I did, which is talking to Thai clients in the Spas and mentioning it to the girls when there was a bit of a click and I asked for their Line ID, most gave their ID if clicked, and a few gave agents Line. Once I has agents I was happy with, and they were happy with me I stopped following up on that.

Anyhow. It is a lot better than some believe and Loi Kroh just presents as the far smaller and easier option but realistically some Thai language skills are required not only in making arrangements but also when in the room makes everything run a lot smoother. No Thai, and tourists on a short stay or digital gonads or slackpackers or begpackers etc then Loi Kroh is your go or Celeb as a walk then Sayuri / Pandora by tuk tuk. Celeb is not that bad and an easy walk down a soi from the night market. You can get a feed and a drink one the way back Also in Celeb (sorry have not been to the others in yonks) you can take drinks bought on premises up to the room, so LEO can be a conversation lubricant. They will bring up glasses, ice, Large LEO etc while the tub is filling. It makes things run a bit smoother and have no probs eating into your 90 minutes. I just find Celeb a lot more accommodating if I am in town for parking, familiarity, un-rushed service, welcoming, non discriminatory pricing. As I recall it opens from about 1.00 pm ish and has a shift and closes around midnight if you are not already in (so to speak). If I was staying in a hotel on holidays I would not be bothered with the others, Celeb for me is just that convenient I would say that the majority of Loi Kroh will not see their 30th birthday again, and equally a few not see their feet on the 7/11 scales again. The good ones have bfs, have gone, or are in Bangkok. There are some diamonds, but there is a lot of stone.

If anyone wants more Line Ids then I will add a heap of current ones but I say again really no use for the vast majority unless you speak (and better write) reasonable Thai, and establish that they are Farang friendly (and most are) otherwise they just do not respond or give up.

My apologies people. It would appear that the Line IDs I provided in my original post for the CM Spa businesses have been deleted or edited out. I did not think about any conflict with sponsors etc perhaps or perhaps Line IDs fall under same category as an email address, or link to posts on other sites with photos, both of which are not permissible on the forum. In hindsight is my bad. And hence will not be able to provide business Line IDs.

I could provide physical address of some but this negates the basis of my post, to use the Line App to make arrangements or view choices first, in Thai language etc.

Went to Shower Massage located in the Riverside Hotel yesterday. Short walk from the Night Market area.

Walked in about 2 pm. Papasan escorted me in the door. Fishbowl with about a dozen ladies. (Probably a lot more later in the evening.) Not one of them paid any attention to me, but understandable when the papasan told me it was one-way glass and they couldn't see out. No real stunners; no real uglies. A nice collection of fives and sixes, I'd say. 1400 thb for 1-1/2 hours of "everything". There was a group of sideliners sitting off in a dark corner (1800) but I did not walk over to look too closely.

Picked #24 because she looked thin and the best of the bunch. Off to the room. Clothes came off to reveal an okay body with no baby damage, but not really outstanding either. A- breasts and not much of a waist. Did all the usual, including a trip to the bath tub. She attempted to be nice, but all-in-all it was a "ho-hum" sort of experience. Got the job done. Didn't cost a fortune.

Heading back to Chiangmai shortly again and it's nice to see others are having success here. It's a welcome change to the dribble of one who always complains about there being no action and online is not good and no freelancers and so on. Way to go guys.
