Recently bagged a job at Bangkok. The pay is a little above 70 k per month and will increase in coming times. Work location would be around Ekamai.

Do you guys think after all the expenses (except on girls), I'll be able to save 50%+ of my salary every month? FYI, I'm planning to rent a 1 bedroom condo.

Depends on the lifestyle you want. I know a lot of guys who do quite well for themselves on 45 K a month. They have fun, meet and hook up with a lot of girls, and travel around SE Asia a couple of times a year. Then I also know others who try and live like ballers and end up broke after the 1st week of the month.

You can rent a newer 1 bedroom condo (30-40 sq. M.) not far from Ekamai in the On Nut / Prakanong BTS area (1-2 stops away from Ekamai station) for 12,000-15,000 baht fully furnished. Shoebox type place, not much character but its clean, nice facilities including a big swimming pool and fully kitted fitness center. There's also a lot of other places around the city that are equally priced that are actually bigger, nicer, but you have to be willing to live a little ways from the BTS and do some leg work to find them. Right now is actually a good time to come here because of the crazy condo boom that's taken place over the last couple of years. Value to rent has stayed fairly low.

You can also save a bit of money by not running the AC constantly. It can be tough but you may actually find just having a fan on you at night a relief after working in a freezer I mean office all day.

Food is cheap if you're good with eating mostly Thai food. Western options get pretty pricey. There are beer gardens around most residential areas that serve good and cheap Thai food and reasonably priced beer.

If you're serious about staying for a couple of years I also recommend getting a motorbike. This can open up your living choices and save you a bit of money on transport. Its also just convenient to have one due to the traffic.

When it comes to ladies, most guys tend to spend a bit more when they first arrive but usually after a few months the P4P scene can get a bit boring. If you do a bit of networking during the break in period, some of the girls may even meet up with you directly for less or no money. Once you settle in and make some friends, you'll find that getting decent looking women to go home with you to actually be fairly easy, especially if you're a nice enough fellow.

That's how I learned straps was a post op bar, by first hand experience. Kicked her out of my condo with 500 Baht. She or he didn't put up a fuss. I was very polite about the fact that I wasn't interested in a post op. It was my 2nd day in Thailand 8 years ago.

I sipped my diet coke for a few more minutes while I checked out the other "girls" dancing in the bar stage. They were all obvious LB's. Thus the odds of making the fatal error are very, very low because LB's are easy to spot, even for a newbie, by their size (height, hands and feet), exaggerated behavior (especially on stage), looks (most ladyboys contrary to popular myth are not attractive and have some degree of masculinity they can't hide), and voice.

Now that I am away from LOS, I am ready to share this strange night in Bangkok. It all began with my tgf coming three days late than earlier decided plan. Recently visited this place again, have to say Tilac is now a far cry from where it used to be. Seems like the older, oversized dancers get moved here from the other places. Anyway, here is a short list of Go Go's that are all LB free to allay your apprehensions before your big trip. This list is incomplete. I basically composed it off the top of my head of Go Go's that I know without a shadow of doubt do not employ Kathoey dancers. .

My experience is that if the ladyboy starts the treatments at a young age it is pretty damn hard to tell as most of the telltale masculine signs, such as hands, shoulders, etc, have not really and will not get a chance to develop.

Try walking past Thermae at night, most of the fls outside are ladyboys and you can tell right away with most of them. But with some of them it is pretty hard to tell with bad lighting, I am talking petite figure, pretty face, skinny-- not linebacker shoulders protruding from dress. Even the bar girls have trouble IDing some of ladyboys sometimes so just imagine when your drunk, etc.

I was hoping 50 k / yr USD -so roughly 130 k baht / month- could land one a decent rental along Sukhumvit w / and a comfortable walk to the BTS and have plenty of P4P and travel $. Sorry if wrong forum, I will look for answers elsewhere.
