Posts: 471It is also done in the USA. When you have operating costs, overhead, etc that are independent of the cost of goods sold, the fewer items you sell, the larger mark up you need on each item in order to cover the fixed costs. When you see items advertised as being marked down "because they are not selling" you should take that explanation with a grain of salt, it might mean they are just taking a cut in profits from an original cost that was inflated. US sellers may also have easier credit than sellers in Brazil which allow them more freedom, such as selling at a loss in order to make monthly payments on loans, in hopes business will pick up later and allow them to recoup losses.

The only thing that's good in Cancun, the simple rooms are a bit bigger than the simple rooms in 4 by 4 but not the rooms next to smoking area restaurant. The simple rooms that are next to the smoking area are bigger than the simple rooms in Cancun.
I have never been interested in terma in zona sul. The rooms are very small.
T65 I don't need to talk, just try once and never came back again.
Mv30 always dick fest and only ugly girls and fat belly girls. The bar smells [CodeWord140] because of the toilet, impossible to go to toilet everybody smokes there.
502 is good, but it depends on the day, sometimes it is empty sometimes it is full.
In Solarium, better they don't charge entrance for people that session with a girl.

I just checked Amazon and unlocked international versions seem to be going for between USD 700-800. (Note they may not be exactly the same versions as the BR one on Kabum or your UK ones, but I don't know).
That difference (750 USD = 2362 BRL vs Kabum price) seems to make more sense to me. As others have noted, most of the difference in BR electronics pricing is due to painfully high government-imposed tarrifs designed "to keep BR industry competitive" (but that actually do nothing but increase cost to consumers and hurt, long term, the Brazilian population). You see it everywhere on TVs, washer / dryers, phones, PCs, etc. It has been consistent since I moved here 6+ years ago. The only time you can slightly get ahead of it is when the FX changes quickly (BRL strengthens suddenly) and you can buy before prices adjust (because for imported electronics, they do tend to follow USD pricing).
Anyway, let's get this thread back to actionable info about finding girls for paid sex in Rio. Deal?
I went to MC earlier this week with some visitors in town. Probably about 25 girls and 7-8 guys. Quality is not great but was better than a few months ago, a few slimmer girls. Total cost for 40 minutes with 1 chopp, 1 bottle beer (she bought a heineken, I wanted to shoot her), bottle of water was BRL 504. That's around USD 160 which is kind of high*. I didn't get my free entrada this time so I think that was all-in. Apparently they are remodeling some of the rooms to have showers, I was told.
Granted this was an early day in the week but it wasn't poppin. As others have noted, airfares are high still and reports of violence are keeping a lot of tourists away from Rio. At the same time there are girls on photoacompanhantes who might accept BRL 250-300 from local BR customers refusing to come visit Copacabana for BRL 400. Put in context that my personal trainer makes BRL 100 per hour. A chick won't spend 2 hrs on public transport from Nova Iguazu to Copa to hang out on the deck, drink, and fuck for 2+ hours to get BRL 400. Lazy?
Hope to hit the Dark Side later this week.
(*The recent strength of the BRL vs USD has puzzled me, as it strengthened quickly from ~3.30 about a month or so ago to as low as ~3.12 recently. The BCB keeps saying that the crisis is showing signs of being over, but I don't see it in the day to day. I guess the markets feel BR is getting its house in order with Lula's conviction? Meanwhile the dollar is still super strong against the Euro from what I can see (~1.16) making the BRL's strength even more annoying).

Posts: 159Where in RJ do you monger on Sundays?
I have been doing my RTFF research for my upcoming first trip to RJ. Please correct me if I am wrong, but it appears that most of the termas and prives / massagems are closed on Sundays. I saw a reference on this thread to Solarium being open on Sundays, but their website says that it is not open on Sundays.
As a first-time visitor to RJ who speaks no Portuguese, I plan to focus on termas, prives, and massagems. Given the circumstances, I am hesitant to pursue independent GDPs in person and online, and I wonder if Vila Mimosa would be a good fit for me even if I did have prior RJ experience and spoke Portuguese, given what I have read about it here. A Sunday will also be my second day in town, so I will not have had much time to collect phone numbers from termas or prive GDPs by that very early point in my trip.
So where do you go on Sundays? I did a search and it seems like Vila Mimosa, Mabs, and Barbarella's are popular options for Sundays. Do you have any other suggestions for a first-time visitor with no Portuguese? Are there any termas, prives, or massagens open on Sundays that I may have missed?

If they get fewer customers theyll squeeze them to make up the lost profit.
Ask any Brazilian there. Short-termism at its finest. Anything to avoid returning money or discounting.
The ones who are trying to be pro-active are the independents offering more girls for less etc and like the ones i met at Mabs offering me 1.5-2 hours for 150.
Increasing the entry fee towards consumacao is ok but only if you ACTUALLY plan on drinking quite a bit or buying drinks for the garotas etc
Once at MC a girl I picked went to the bathroom for 15 minutes (I shit you not) and I terminated and wanted money back. They fought me tooth and nail offering me free entrance next time despite me spending many many thousands there up till this event.
Only one of the tier 2/3 termas lowered their 1 hour price from 200 to 180 (T3) -everyone else just keeps tweaking it a bit hoping no one will notice! Loool.
Safados.
I don't think termas have a future in Rio beyond the ones who have a following-a good local clientele as well as suplementing with some gringoes (4 x 4 etc) Solarium cause its for rich cariocas who like white girls but can't be bothered going to SP and the lower tier spots with a crowd (MV30 etc) wholl always get some and the rent there isn't alot as its the dark side of Vargas.
Just my 2 centavos.
It seems that in SP its more business as usual in the big termas???? is it because more business men flow through SP-business center of BR etc?

I still say it is a ridiculous "theory". In 2015 and 2016 when the dollar gained against the euro, did all the FKK owners in Germany start increasing their prices? No fuck shop in country A decides their prices on what is going on in countries B through Z. You guys act like these places are giant corporations. It is a hoarhouse with 30 chicks working there where a guy can go get his rocks off for 40 minutes.
Talk about overthinking. Will someone that has boots on the ground just go ask these guys why they are moving the prices up instead of giving into all the economic theory of hoarhouses stuff.

Charging nearly 100 reais to get in excludes many and is totally unrealistic, especially considering the very lazy recruitment of girls going on.
I could see it closing by 2018 if it carries on in this vein.
Solarium seems to fare slightly better allthough more expensive and out of curiosity, how is Centaurus getting along?.
If we are on the tier 1 analysis,4 x 4 wasnt bad-Cancun lacked talent as usual and T65 shouldn't have bothered reopening.
Playground already shut (tier 1/ tier 2) again and Cafe Romance there isn't enough feedback on so can't be that great.
Back to the gutter again for me.
