Combined Bogota Trip Report: August 30-September 2 and October 2-4.

Given that I have delayed so long in writing my Bogota trip reports, instead, focusing on my Medellin reports, I've decided to just summarize my two Bogota reports into one. It won't have the detail of my usual reports, but hopefully it will give useful information.

Accommodations.

For both trips, I went with AirBnB. The first one was arranged by my Wingman. We ended up staying off of Carrera 15, near Calle 85. It was actually a very nice place. Very modern. All of our female guests were impressed and took photos to "prove" they were there. The second one wasn't as modern, but it had a really nice mood lighting and sound system. This place was off of Carrera 6 near Calle 82.a bit longer walk to Zona Rosa, but not by much.

Transportation.

We pretty much took taxis everywhere we went!

La Piscina Norte / Casanova.

Unless they were the victim, it's unlikely anyone has seen anything. There are some very good reasons for that and they have nothing to do with how safe or secure an area is.

The biggest reason is simple math. Lets say you spent 40 hours per year walking in Santa Fe, round it up to 500 hours walking around Santa Fe. During those 12 years you spent 0. 47% of the time where you had any chance to see anything and that 500 hours is probably much higher than reality.

Also criminals prefer to have numbers on their side. They're less likely to attack when witnesses are around, or in places with a nearby police presence.

One last reason depends on the individual. I never get bothered. Probably because I always know where I'm going. I'm not standing around looking for street signs while trying to find my route on my phone. Even if I have no idea where I'm at, I still walk with confidence. I don't gawk, I don't act nervous. Even though it's impossible for me to blend in, I look like I belong. For someone choosing a victim, I don't look like an easy target.

If you feel comfortable walking Santa Fe at all hours, not just between clubs, but the back streets as well, Santa Fe is probably safe for you. It will probably always be safe, for you. If it is unsafe for you, it will only happen one time.

If you don't feel safe in Santa Fe, you shouldn't be walking around Santa Fe. Take a taxi in and out, keep to the main streets and keep your wits about you.
