Business must be slow in Rio. The BW Ipanema prohibited late night female guests / visitors years ago. Even hotels that allowed guests if you paid for a double room were problematic. A greedy Night Manager could try to charge an additional guest fee.

What year are you referring to at BW Ipanema? I stayed there in 2014 July. Its Not upscale-no one gave a fuck. With the economy on its knees the Rio hotels better relax themselves as long as the hoes dress and act reasonably- like DR. In general no problem even at upscale SD hotels like Jaragua no probs. Duplas too. Aint found that in Rio. Motels are closest.

That's why I prefer using apartments. They provide more freedom. You always have to register guests in advance when booking your room in a hotel. Airbnb is the best option if you need more freedom. Maybe some people have no problem bringing late night guests because they have been there many times and already know all the staff. Unfortunately, it would impossible for me and many other people to bring guests to the hotel without being charged or refused. Many hotels are not friendly.

Good news is the hotels I stay in are 100% GF- with no need to reserve a specific 2nd person-just book for 2-you register them at front desk when they arrive like in DR and when they leave make them tell reception they've left. Its not that stressful but nothing compared to freedom of apartment except I hate to have to clean up daily after the broads and they leave hair everywhere etc.Allthough in April I will rent apartment again and get cleaners in 3 Times a week and buy more sheets lol

I appreciate Bwana dik guide of 2005 or 6 but I am sorry to say that It is no longer related to 2017 because the author never came up with an update edition of his book. Therefore, it is zero % relevant be because it is a guide from 2006 or 7.

It's too bad. Bwana was an early internet legend. He made my initial trips smooth sailing. He not only reported in great detail on RJ, but several other cities. He opened up the world of Brazilian mongering to a whole lot of young guys.

Years ago, I ran into some guys in Rio who hung out with the legend. I believe he was an academian from a Bay Area university who used his off time to party and travel in Brazil. From what I gathered, he wasn't too young back then and was slowing down. I like to think he's retired and still banging American programa girls. Maybe he's a sugar daddy to some college girl.

Termas in Copa, Leblon and Ipanema. How do recognize which is a good Terma and which is bad? Do you get what you pay for in terms of service? you pay cheap you get crap.

Are you more likely to get better service from a girl that isn't as good looking as all of the others?

When I stayed at best Western Ipanema by beach on my 2nd trip to rio nothing was a problem! Shit reception would call up like " mr fuckafmeddig so and so is in reception should we send her up?" Like yes please. Had 5 girls in 8 days there.

And you know what? With all of my trips to Brazil, I've never actually gone to Vila Mimosa. Everything I read and hear about it convince me it's not my cup of tea. But the next time in Rio, I think I'll go "just for the experience". I'll be keeping my socks (and shoes) on! Ahem! Thanks for another great report man. I like how you roll!

Many times for myself and others. Quick turn around out of NYC even for those in other jurisdictions. They process so many that they have people walk it through and get top priority. I always felt their prices were fair and if you have any issues they have experienced people to help you. Know it won't help you but as a heads up for others.

On December 20,2017 someone posted on a Brazilian forum that VM was dead, with empty streets and closed houses. Instead, the girls appear to have moved to Rua Francisco Eugenio, around the Military Police station, as he said he saw immense packs of girls there, attributing the move to their being able to charge lower prices to get business as the fixed pricing at VM was too high for the customers given the current economic conditions. Anybody on the ground there can corroborate his report?

That Damn Visa:
I tried to arrange getting the Visa locally, but it was too difficult. So I used Passport and Visas.com. I was told they had expedite services; that was bullshit all the way. I sent out all the required documents on September 5th, and finally got the Visa on October 25th.

Here were the fees:
Consulate: $160.
Service: $94.
Shipping both ways: $60 ($30 each way).
Total: $314.

Conclusion:

I was in Rio in 2004 and 2006, and yes, the mongering scene is now a lot different and more expensive. Having said that, there is still plenty of women to play with. Plus, the great food and drinks, Rio is still a great place to visit.

Would I return? I think so. Hell, the visa is good for 10 years and I already miss the freak!

First off, I want to thank Pipe Layer 99, The Cane, and Mr. Enternational for their help and making the trip very successful. All of them are great sources of information!

History:
I traveled to Rio in 2004 and 2006 for Carnival. Yes, those were the years of Help disco and other venues, but like in most other countries, things change; so be it! I refuse to live in the past and seek out what the future has to offer.

Rio is a beautiful city but nightlife activities are not as good as in SP. I am not into prives either. VM is very dirty and I hate it, I want to puke up whenever I visit that shitty place, it smells like [CodeWord140], beautiful girls are pretty rare out there unless you only have a liking for dark skinned and black women. I am more into white girls. I ve never seen white stunners in VM.

I don't really like stripclubs in Rio, It is expensive, the quality is not really good. Each time I am in Rio, I only hit termas but when I am in SP I am more into clubs. SP is the best, more clubs, a better selection of girls, Inconvenience: no beach. Some people would say Rio de Janeiro is a more brown city, It is not true, I saw more white people in Rio but the only difference with SP is that you don't see many white hookers in Rio. I also saw many black hookers in SP, there are as many black hookers as in Rio. Mongering scenes are better in SP. There are girls to everybody's liking, girls of any ethnicity, race and size.

Fortunately, I don't pay exaggerated fees for visa. I don't need to traval to Brazil on a visa, I also have an European passport. It is not interesting for me to travel to Brazil with a Canadian passport. I understand it is exorbitant and waiting time is excessive.
