By the way, this location has operated as a casa for the past nine years. It is one of many you don't read about on this forum.

It is not across the street from that business but it is on the corner mentioned originally. The front of that business faces north, as does the front of the casa. Use Betancourt and Nunez de Caceres as your navigation waypoints. Heading west on Betancourt, notice how many cross streets you pass before you turn right. The Laboratoria Amadita is a landmark (also on the map) you will see just before you turn right. Once you turn right, the casa is on the second corner and on your right. Focus on the landmarks I mentioned and ignore those I did not, and you will reach the place directly. Please let us know how you make out.

I'll see if I can fit it in my itinerary the first week of Feb. Thanks for the info.

That's a good question. This is how the negotiations there and most other places go:

    Punter: How much?

    Casa: 2,000 pesos.

Punter: I will give you 1,500 pesos.

Casa: OK, but expreso / half an hour / one pop.

So, if it must be an hour then you will have a harder time negotiating the lower price but you can do it. You know the way it goes. If it's prime time weekend night and there are other punters then we have to pay more for more time. If it's a week day afternoon and you're the only customer it's easier to negotiate lower rates.

Casa de cita near the Downtown Center shopping mall.

I'm pretty sure I haven't read about this here, so let's celebrate a bit of information that may be new to some. It's a casa (on site bedrooms) with a bar in the front room. The particulars:

    - located on the southeast corner of 4-A and 4-be street, west of Nunez de Caceres and north of Romulo Betancourt.

    - they will ask for 2,000 pesos but they will accept 1,500 pesos.

    - it gets going around the normal time, 3 pm Or later.

I'll try to answer the standard questions. Are the girls 1, 3, 5, 7 or 10's? The answer is it varies from day to day, like any casa. How do I find it / Will taxi drivers know where it is / What is its name? Find it on Google maps or GPS, the Laboratorio Amadita and Casa San Pablo, and the Downtown Mall are nearby landmarks / taxi drivers don't know how to find much of anything / It has no name.

Check it out and let everybody know what you think.

    Andre's Carnes By Dial.

One of the best restaurants in Santo Domingo este! The steak I had was tender and cooked to perfection. The Yucca puree was the best I ever tasted. The jugo natural (natural juice) I ordered, in the restaurant, was loaded with flavor and plentiful. Our mesero (waiter) was excellent. And the music was so good that if I closed my eyes and ignored the Spanish I could imagine that I wasn't in the Dominican Republic anymore. We dined in the outdoor section. Which (in my opinion) is always a lovely way to enjoy an evening when you live on a caribbean island (like I do).

But it's not for the Kia drivers. Strictly for those who put in work and don't mind spending the fruits of their labor on good food and drink. Took uber to get there. But I'm not a slave to the company with the founder that's a motherfucker and who's customer service (in my opinion) at the corporate level leaves much to be desired. Came back home in the personal car of the girl who met me there (holla)!

I've noticed a interesting trend. Most posts in the Dominican Republic forums don't contain any actual information other than the comments, preferences and opinions of the posters. Just watch and see if this continues to be true. In the meantime, I'm continuing to have a great time while sharing the useful things I've learned / I'm leaning while living here.

    Just pass me the hooka!

Why would anyone ask about the fare (la tarifa) up front if they already know what it is?

Furthermore asking about the fair up front doesn't help you one bit if they quote you 300 DOP and it should only be 200 DOP if you don't know what it should be.

Even if I was using Uber (and I do) how would I know to challenge a inefficient route if I didn't the route? Alas, I do or at least the general direction because I live here.

But let me share a story about Uber (since it seems you are determined to continue your game of one upmanship). I was leaving from Mega Centro one time during rush hour. I figured I'd wind up with a surge charge because traffic was heavy. But my man took me on a route around the traffic that I had never seen before. It was longer without a doubt. But saved me (and him) a huge amount of time. The fare (la tarifa) was only about 20 DOP or so more than the usual. I didn't figure it was that important to use Uber's superior customer service (something that I found not to be true in the US that's why I use Lyft) to complain about it.

These are the things you learn when you live here. So if you didn't know, now you know.

If not they simply tell you the color of the taxi and the response time. Now during the seven months I lived in Santo Domingo Este I used Oper almost exclusively as they had a staging area 5 minutes from my building. During those seven months I never (and I mean never) experienced a situation where a driver tried to charge me a cost higher than the standard fare. I never received poor service or general nonsense. I never got into a Oper taxi that where the vehicle was unsafe or filthy; nor did any of the drivers operate in a reckless manner. Those were my experiences. If the occasion dictated it Oper Taxi is my goto choice.

The advantage of living here is developing a knowledge experience base that is deeper and more extensive than anyone who is only visiting on a part time basis. Even my fellow expats share information with me I didn't know. It is the rare visitor that can arrive and show me something I didn't know about Santo Domingo / Santo Domingo Este. And when they do it's a most pleasant surprise. What I enjoy most about meeting with those that don't live here is the unique perspective they bring and different way they see things (Thanks Mr. GoGo). Of course that has a lot to do with the fact we are all different people with different needs and desires. It's a good thing we all have different tastes. Women who you don't think are hot need to get paid too.

Listen to the the man. Because I second that motion. They are out there to be found. If you are looking for a prostitute, then you are going to have to get into a tourist area where you can screen the look you want by preferences. But be prepared to pay 5000 - 7000 K in pesos. Because they are in high demand from the white boys that like that type of body.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm so barrio. But I happen to prefer that body type also. Over three years of living in Santo Domingo Este. So, I might know of what I speak. But you decide for yourself.
