I asked the girl at the bar in front of it why it was closed and she said they didn't have money to pay the police.

I wonder if the police are killing the golden goose. Asking for too much from the bars that have not as many customers and those they do have are not buying as many overpriced ladies drinks or spending as much on bar fines.

I was in Bangkok about 10 days ago and the bar I was in at Soi Cowboy closed down early because the police told all bars to close. It was Baccara but I can't remember the time.

That being said, there are successful farang bar owners in BKK and Pattaya, but they all play by the rules. One of the lessons you learn is that you are not going to change the way things are done here. You either adapt, or whatever you are trying to do will fail. It may not be the way we do it in the West and it may not be the "best" way, but it is the way it is done here, and you're not going to effect that.

If I owned a gogo bar in this city I would have pretty girls and charge less for lady drinks. We were in there last Tuesday at the latest! What a difference a week makes. We did buy some lady drinks there but unsure of the prices now but I think on the high end of the scale. I think customer wise it was pretty empty.
