I am planning a trip to Phuket this month end with a friend for 3 nights please guys suggest me nice hotel near the action which could be girl friendly and not very far from action as we rare not planning to taking scooters on rent due to some bad experience in the past.

Last time I was staying in Amari but it was very far from the action.

You don't say, but I hope you are staying in Patong, not Phuket proper. Assuming so we loved RMar. It is well priced nice girl friendly and only a few blocks walk from Bangla road. Best combo of quiet close and girl friendly IMO. Staff is great too. Make sure to book a double to avoid joiner fee.

Reading all your posts have been a revelation, unbeknownst to me, I had already read like 10 of them but now I have finished them all.

I believe I would unfortunately stay in Phuket Town as it is near to the day activities like snorkelling, diving, kayaking etc. Patong holds little interest for me in that respect and I should be able to get my groove on between Katherines, New Angel, and some chat apps. I plan to head to Phi Phi too so there isn't much time. Hopefully with more time, I would be able to return and stay in both towns since there are some locations in Patong I hope to visit too.

Given your extensive experience, I hope I can respectfully, ask how you stay safe from STDs? The forums have reports of dudes who woke up with an itch (and more) after a fun night so I am wondering if there are any cardinal rules you abide by or signs you look for in order to avoid the risk.

Phuket is not big and all talk about 1 hour in traffic can happen but it depends on where you going. If you stay in Patong and leave for Katherines around 7 pm it will be about 30 minutes. Taxi, Tuktuk and even the few Taximeter is expensive best is if you can transport yourself on motorbike.

You can also consider staying in Chalong which will keep you close to activities as well but actually have a bar life. (The area near Chalong Pier and nearby). Rawai and surrounding area as well but I'm badly navigated there and normally go with expats and just follow them. That area is cheaper and you can get more value for money.

Don't book all in advance scout out a place you want to start with and then if you like it stay else move on. Most of all enjoy Thailand it is a wonderful place and my first trip is still close to my heart haha.

Reason for staying there is just to be closer to the day trips to Phi Phi and Phang Nga.

If one of your main goals is to get with girls, do not stay in Phuket town itself. Go read the recent post comparing Pattaya and Phuket in the Pattaya forum. When he talks about Phuket he is talking about Patong beach. Phuket town would be a distant third behind Pattaya and Patong.

As I said, take a taxi to Patong, nearly an hour ride. There are lots of places to stay. For less tha $100/ night I highly recommend th RMar. It is a really nice hotel, close to the action, but not so close as to be seedy. Nice rooms. Nice pool. Girl friendly (I. E. They expect you will be bringing back a girl, no problem and no extra fee, make sure to book a double room tho). You can walk to Bangla road from there.

Bangla road is where all the action is. There are discos and bars and such. Since you said you are not a bar type I would not try to get freelancers in the discos. Head down to Soi Sea Dragon to the small bars and gogo bars. Walking down Bangla from the main Road, SSD will be on your right about midway to the beach. On SSD you wil find 10 or 20 little open air bars with 2 or 3 girls at each and about 10 gogo bars around the edge. All girls at the bars and gogos will gladly go with you to your room. The deal is you pay a "bar fine" to the house and take the girl. Then after doing the deed you pay the girl in the room (not before).

If you want the girl next door, they will be at the open air bars. They are super cheap to take away. They often have little games to play with dice or pounding a nail into a block (they will shame you at this!) to just have some fun. Have a beer, play some games. See one you like? I really do recommend the strip clubs. Avoid Suzy Wongs- Too rowdy for you. Prettiest girls to watch are at Harem. But not best to take home.
