Hello to everyone on this forum,

Hope you guys are rocking.

Would request your guidance related to green hotels in Bur Dubai.

Have tried to explore a lot but couldn't land up getting any firm info, some 5 star properties are too expensive as I plan to stay for 4 nights.

Was about to book Majestic but some member raise update that it's red now. Many thanks for this info Brother. You saved me.

Whereas one member suggested Ramee Royal on which I spoke to Hotel guys and there answer was RED.

Would request small help related to 3-4 star category hotel with green flag, planned to travel today and journey begins in next 4 Hours.

Suggestions would be really appreciated.

BTW. Something which has worked for me and a rule I tend to follow.

When booking into a hotel for the first time, I don't book the duration of my stay but rather each day individually. On checkin make them aware that I have multiple sequential bookings so I will not be checking out of the room, however incase I don't think the hotel is for me then makes cancellation easier.

I am planned to travel Dubai in this week looking for help on the hotels having nightclub with green flag so getting someone with me to room can be much more easier. Looking for some hotels having 4 star category. Preferred area would be in Bur Dubai or downtown Dubai.

My PM is active and help from seniors / members would be really appreciated.

Also there is a chap stationed at the entrance from the festival city promenade / fish restaurant after sunset. I was on my own when I used that route, was never challenged, not sure how activist he would have been if I had been. He was not wearing a security guard uniform but dressed as a doorman, so I assume would have been ok as not his job description.

I used the Creek promenade entrance a couple of times on different days to test it, and with my friend for the evening at about midnight on a weeknight, and never encountered a doorman there. Indeed this may indicate a higher level of scrutiny at certain times.

An old regular of mine has just dropped me a line to say she is playing through Dubai for a few days and had booked in here. No bar that I can see so dropping in for a drink and took get reacquainted seems not so easy if reception get curious. Seems an odd choice of hotel; any advice folks?

I have long used the Winchester, Bur Dubai. Please confirm still GREEN. I have not been there for awhile.

Update from a recent trip.

The level of scrutiny depends on what is happening at the hotel. Big wedding at the weekend and security was stepped up significantly with security guards very visible at the mouth of the lift lobby and also at the open connecting spaces. I assume they did not want to hurt sensibilities of the organising family.

Summary. No dramas registering my friend both nights

Very green, green, green. Tested this week.

3 options for the walk of shame:

1) Via reception desk with ID. I only know about this because while I was standing at reception dealing with my closing bill the night before I checked out, one of the WGs from the bar, came with her docs to register. Yes, there are 5-6 WG every night at the bar / lounge.

2) Via the entrance to the Events Center between the Intercontinental and Crowne Plaza. Door is always unlocked. Bypasses the front desk, but you may run into a roaming security guy.

3) Via the entrance from the creek promenade, next to the fish restaurant. Door alwayys open, bypasses the front desk, and no security guys/hotel staff encounterd in that area or from there to the elevators.

Hi guys! I read another post by a fellow ISGer in the Dubai thread advising to call the hotel to confirm whether it is green before actually booking. So, I was planning to do just that for the properties I've mentioned in the quoted post. In case I correspond with the hotel via e-mail, will they confirm in writing that they are joiner friendly considering that, as a general rule, hotels in Dubai are not supposed to allow 'guests'? Is e-mail communication the right and, more importantly, the safe way to go about it? Of course, I'll report on the feedback I get. All help is appreciated. Thanks.

One approach I've found useful is to call the hotel in advance, mention that your guest will be joining you later on in the day / next day, and that they are of a different nationality and not your spouse. The response you get will indicate whether the hotel is green or not.

I have fossicked through the past posts extensively and a few hotels, amongst others, that are reportedly green, based on the experience of fellow hobbyists and which interest me for my trip, are Le Meridien Airport, Sheraton Creek and Grosvenor House (Apartments). The reason why I have shortlisted these hotels is that, not only have they been reported on several times, but, from what I have been able to gather from my research, are, invariably, 'evergreen', which fact assumes significance in light of the vacillating red/green status of several hotels in Dubai. Also, based on the reading that I have done, I can safely assume that I can rely on these properties to be consistent and in line with their past record when I get there next month. Apart from being green, I am also hoping that staying at one of these properties would, hopefully, not entail any encounter(s) with guys, presumably LE, in local dress behind reception desk, who have been sighted at several hotels, which is a scary prospect. Now, if you guys were to recommend one of these hotels, which one would it be and why? I'd be grateful for all meaningful responses. Suggestions, if any, on other viable options are also welcome.
