I think what Amadeus means is: if you are paying Mada girls 30 dollars for an ST, stay away. I have to concur. Let's face it, the place is still a dump, but the girls are some of the cheapest and most accommodating on the planet. We all know that is not going to last forever but let's try to extend it shall we?

I wanted to explore this prefectoral city, capital city of cloves and pepper.

You reach it after 3 h30 of taxi-brousse by the bad tarred road north of Tamatave (100 km) supposedly retarred by the Chinese about 8 years ago (I believe they tarred more some officials wallets).

Usually travellers pass just the city, on the way to Soeniarina Ivongo to take the boat to Sainte Marie.

As I imagined it is an alternative to Antalaha, easily reached from Tamatave, without to pay expansive airfares to Sambava / Antalaha.

I also live in Thailand since 2018 and my plan is to visit Mombasa and Mada for 3 month per year. The rest I will stay in Thailand. The good thing in thailand that I have no commitment for my apartment so I pay monthly and can leave as I want.

In Mombasa my apartment cost 200 USD per month. In Mada I stay in cheap hotels.

Conclusion: I like many things in both Kenya and Mada so I will keep travelling for 3 month per year and the rest I will stay in Thailand. So for me its not Thailandi vs Africa its Thailand plus Africa.

Best time for Mombasa is Dec-Feb and Mada is October-November. Kenya airways one ticket two countries under 1000 USD from BKK.

I went through Fenerive last year on my way to St Marie. I didn't see much but it seemed a bustling little place that would be worth a couple of days as a get away from Tamatave. On the other hand I am not sure it is worth the effort over that horrible road.

Beno69 I am not sure of your post. Are you saying the list of countries in Africa including Mada girls are 800 plus ST and 1500 plus LT? I cannot say for any of the others but I pay 300ST and 500 LT in Mada and some would probably say I am overpaying. Who on earth but a one week millionaire would pay that kind of money in Mada, or am I misunderstanding your post?

And with respect, 500-700 for Thai girls is mainly for guys that live there or don't mind bargaining for half an hour on Beach road. I bet one newbie who has just stepped off the plane in Bangkok hasn't gotten an equivalent price in 20 years! A guy who just stepped off the plane in Tana could find a girl for 300 in 20 minutes.

I was here last year the main problem is that I saw no girls. I stayed in hotel "belle rose" 30 K per night. Hundreds of boats on the beach so its not a swimming beach is a fishing beach. Some girls on the beach below the age but that's the same situation as Anthala. No Adults.
