Not a fan of either place to tell you the truth. If I want good duck I get our of the Lower Sukhumvit area, which to tell you the truth is only good for Middle Eastern food. There is some good Northern Chinese at Dalian which is behind Villa on Soi 33.

One has to eat something although I don't live there and probably more often eat more expensive western food also. LOL.

I thought that would should be called Soi 33/1 most likely, since its a small Soi not directly connected to Soi 33 proper. Still maybe they still call it Soi 33 to prevent finding it. LOL Villa Markt seems to be in Sukhumvit road when I go there, and merely close to Soi 33, however Thai addressing is crazy.

Its called Yong Lee (rising tone). Very cheap but nothing special. I gave it away years ago, maybe because something started to annoy me about the Chinese attitude (that reminded me of Hong Kong). Does not have an overly friendly vibe. LOL Chinese culture and manners are very different to Thai. Anyway cheap and a bit nasty sums it up. A friend first took me to Yong Lee in 1991. Back then, even girls from the Thermae Soapy or Cafe would sometimes eat there (due to price and speed). It never changed much. Some staff members were very old (like 70+), so surely some must have croaked it by now. Maybe something to do with losing my wallet getting out of a taxi before a visit to Yong Lee . I think the girl may have had to pay the bill. LOL Lucky it was a small bill. Later I got back my wallet and cards (minus the cash). I don't believe I was pick pocketed. Just failed to put wallet back into tight pants properly while juggling a few things such a phone etc., it probably was in the taxi, still who knows? Never lost a wallet again. I imagine someone with no Thai Bank account could be in a right pickle if lost a wallet and all cards. I usually don't carry absolutely all cards with me and definitely not passport. Would not be smart.

I would much rather go to the BBQed duck place on other side of Sukhumvit under BTS Asoke. Its much less crowded and better quality. A very good place to get take away BBQ duck too. Its called Thong Kee. In old days when GF sent me to get BBQed duck, I sometimes had a quick diversion to a BJ joint not so far away.

You would also be far better off in Love Scene 24 hours restaurant in Soi 23 with a good menu selection. Just my opinion if you want something a little better, but still not pricey.

If you want duck noodles there is a shop in Khlongtoey near PAT stadium that is wonderful. Also close there is one of the best beef noodle shops in the city. Although I live in between Nana and Asoke, I never eat Thai or Chinese food in the area.

But another chrome bar with average ladies and "car alarm music" is really not what Cowboy needs right now.

Yes I tried to explain to the Ladyboy mamasan (ex Crazy House waitress) that the "music" was very obnoxious to guys of my generation even if the young girls seemed to like it. I suggested to her to go check out Shark, notice a lot more customers, and notice a much more acceptable type of dance music for the Expat customers. I was only there due to a an ex regular Crazy House girl being there. I really hated it as a bar completely. First step would be fire the DJ, then make it more similar to Crazy House or Shark or Doll House would be a big forward step.

Have to learn something from bars doing well or okay.

I have been to BKK about 10 times to exercise our hobby but never to Manila.

I am considering a hobby trip of about 10 days. Milion dollar question: Manila or BKK?

Thermae has been a Japanese trap for a long time, unless that all changed. The girls didn't used to look at non Japanese inside before. But they would in the street after closing. If the Beergarden on Soi 7 is still open then that is great value, but there are few younger ladies. Good place to make friends though. My favourite gogos are Long Gun (Lucky Star) on Cowboy (not owned by "the Man from Iran" and Rawhide (now half owned by him, but they still didn't rip you off last time I was there). Tilac is good if you don't mind the girls wearing clothes. Some of the bars will just load your bill, so check it regularly. Suzi Wong's is worth a look as is Crazy house on Soi 23. Five Star seems to have been taken over and ruined. The band had gone last time I looked. But I didn't stay long.

Five Star is now owned by the same people that operate Crazy House, I'm told. The old Five Star was something different in Cowboy, a cool quirky bar with live music. Never had many people, so I understand new owners want to try a different set-up. But another chrome bar with average ladies and "car alarm music" is really not what Cowboy needs right now. The street lacks diversity; it should have more themed bars IMO. Owners need to make a profit but why is there such a lack of inventions and new ideas? Sad really. I guess some of it is related to the "Iran" guy how run his bars for money laundry only. For customers to the area it is just a waste of space since it does not appeal to the hardcore mongers nor to the curious tourists. So who is it for. Since there are no people inside, just a bunch of girls on the outside? The old Climax is surely missed; the discos like Insanity, Levels etc. Just do not do it for me (maybe to old. ? The Hillary bars are Ok, but a tad too small. Any news on the street that Climax will reopen on another location? It was a perfect pick-up place with tons of freelancers.

I went past Mango on Soi 24/1 last week and it was closed, they say it is temporary but who knows.

Its presently closed for renovation and from what I understand should be open within the next week or so.

Doing a one-nighter in BKK and I'm torn on whether I should stay new Soi Cowboy or Nana Plaza. I've been consuming all the info I can, and they both sound worth a look, but with only one night, what's the best bang for my buck (pun partially intended)?

I enjoyed bars at both Nana plaza and Soi Cowboy. It's a tough decision to choose only one and it depends on your personal taste. Nana with it's fluorescent lights looks a bit cheesy while Soi Cowboy is a narrow street with plenty of bars. I found girls at bars in Soi Cowboy to be prettier but it depends on your personal taste.

You won't go wrong with either place. Have fun!

Years back Eden Club used to offer two girls back to your hotel for all night until 8 am the next day. Looking on their website now I cannot see this offer- does anyone know if it is still possible? If you are not trophy hunting and want good service and real lesbian action I would recommend Tulip. I have had about 8-10 sessions with 6 different ladies over the years and all have been very good to exceptional. I normally book Ying and tell her what I want and have her choose a suitable lady that is available that day. You might want to stop by the shop and see if the ladies meet your specs before committing as they tend to be a bit older. One downside with using the shop is the bed is too small for 3 people. I have had a couple of not too memorable experiences at Eden a few years back and some excellent ones at Mango and Bongkot. However, Bongkot is no longer in business and I haven't been to Mango for years.
