That sucks as I'm flying into Bogota on the 20th and would have taken you up on your offer. Can you answer some questions for me? Where did you stay? How many people that spoke English did you run into? How difficult was it talking and getting around? I speak some basic Spanish (From school back in the day and from recent trips) and have been going through some tutorials ever since I decided to hit up Bogota but I still can't figure out what area to get a airbnb in that's close (walking distance 10-15 minutes) to some good inexpensive places but far away that some local wouldn't automatically thinks the reason I'm staying in the area.

I've got a 5 HR layover Saturday evening at the airport. Any options for a quick blow and go near the airport? Since I haven't been to BOG (flying in from MDE), I don't think I can manage a full city run, and expect once I land, check in, etc, it won't be quite 5 hrs.

Arrived in Bogota yesterday. Guys, soroche hit hard.

BTW, no one here knows what "soroche" is. Must be a Peruvian thing. Here they call it mal de altura, if I'm not confusing anything.

It hit me differently than Cuzco. In Cuzco I had a severe shortness of breath and headaches for the first day, but the next day I was fine. In Bogota, I didn't feel anything at first. Then I had a beer. My heart began pounding. Then I went slightly uphill back to my hotel. It was a short one-block walk, but I felt exhausted. Got in the room, lay down for 15 minutes. My heart rate kept pounding. Accompanied by a headache and bad pressure around my temples.

The coco leaves tea did nothing for me.

Decided to take it easy and found a tantra massage called Mantra. $140 for (supposedly 1 hour 20 minutes. Had a very nice massage with a nice tantra-like finish, done by a girl called Carolina. Nice girl and not a bad finish, but I had much better in Siem Reap and Hamburg of all places. The receptionist never bothered to give me a change from 150.

Thought I'd call it a night expecting to wake up relaxed and recharged. No such luck. Today did some touristy things in Candelaria and Monseratte. Every step uphill was a challenge. Got back to the hotel, had a couple of drinks. As I'm writing this, lying in my bed, my heart is making 130 a minute. It's clear to me that I'm not capable of drinking or making any physical exercises tonight. Am I fucked or what? What if this persists for all 5 days I'm here?

Should I ask a girl to do all the work for me, LOL?

I think Routards info was accurate when he wrote it, but not anymore. Anyone who has stayed in one of their hotels recently can correct me if I'm wrong.

As I'm living here, I don't need hotels anymore. But a good friend stayed in Viaggio Virrey in February I believe and had definitevely no issue with surfing on sex sites or bringing every night another girl in his room.

My two cents is that everyone in this hobby should consider using VPN. I'm paying 50 bucks a year for three devices (laptop, iPad, Android phone) and never having issues with firewalls or other local restrictions. Most importantly it also adds full privacy to all your data traffic as long as the VPN provider is reliable.

Good point Jalle, I use VPN through a company called PIA (private internet access) and it's on all my Linux desktop computers. Didn't cross my mind to put in on my cheap travel chrome book for some reason. Also have a cheap Linux laptop that I could take instead. I'm probably going to stay in several new hotels in this upcoming trip so your suggestion might be helpful.

In Bali, last March I also ran into a problem getting onto ISG. I understand in Indonesia many things are simply censored by the IP, period. I went to Google Play, and downloaded Thunder VPN, a free app. End of problem and it didn't cost me one cent and probably took all of 5 minutes to download and set up. A firewall in a hotel should not be a problem.

Yeah I'm sure, stay away if you see the name Viaggio. I've stayed in Viaggio 617 in Chaperino and Viaggio Virrey in El Retiro within the last year. It was Routards info that caused me to choose these hotels. They are actually very nice hotels and a great deal for the price, but the firewall is a killer. Had planned to bring some escorts in but couldn't visit any of the sites.

They also have signs everywhere that they won't tolerate child prostitution in their hotels, which I agree with. But the signs made me uncomfortable about bringing legal girls in too. They will also ask the girl to provide credentials and take down her info, which has pros and cons.

Any of you have experience with trios or even 3+ girls? It's been cost prohibitive elsewhere but looks like it's in the cards now I'd prefer to have them back at my AirBnB but of course won't complain if we need to rent a room for the night.

I would stay away from the Viaggio Virrey hotels. They have a firewall that blocks anything sex related. So you won't be able to visit any escort sites, or even this site. Would appreciate any hotel info as I'm still open to where I'll stay, probably low end for the start of the trip, and then higher end in the north for the tail end of the trip.

Good to hear all the up to date Bogota info as I'll be there next week. Interesting to hear others experiences of certain places. The one time I tried club La 49 I also saw mostly 7 and 8's. A blonde in there quoted me 300 K. I said no thanks and took off as I can get 5 girls in Santa Fe for that much. I didn't even know there was a club next door to it but maybe I'll check it out this time. Primer de Mayo was mentioned. I visited the two top clubs in this area and wasn't impressed with the talent, nothing higher than a 5 or 6. This area is pretty big, probably more clubs than Santa Fe, but since the top clubs sucked, I didn't feel the need to explore much further. And there's tons of guys outside the clubs trying to drag you in which gets annoying fast.

My favorite clubs in Santa Fe are Atunes in the day, and Fiebres and Troya at night. Hoping to find some hot Venezuelans. Tried a couple casas in the Chapinero area a few visits back but wasn't impressed with the talent in any of them. The prices were super cheap, I think 40 COP for 30 minutes or something. Contrast that to Lidos in the North, pulled a girl for two hours for 450 K COP, 200 K exit fee, and probably 60 K for drinks. Also met a tour guide guy at Piscina del Norte, who took me to all the clubs in the area. He said it would be free, but ended up paying for about 40 K for his time. His service was actually worth it though. The girls at Lidos I would say are mostly 8's with some 9's. Great place if you can afford it. Blows La Isla in Medellin out of the water, but also much higher prices. The main waiter there is a total douchebag that adds a 'tarifa' to all drink costs and even the exit fee. I'm sure he just pockets the money.

I've also tried Flirt Hotel. They have about 10 girls at a time and line them up casa style. Girls cost 600 K COP for 30 minutes or 800 K for 1 hour with them in a room on site. The room is 5 star hotel level. The girls ranged mostly from 8 to 9, with one 10. Another guy got the 10 before me, but I had a great time with a 9. Probably won't go back there anytime soon due to the prices.

Wasn't impressed with pussy house in Chapaniero the couple times I've went, but may have just been back luck. I do like the way it's set up, will probably try again. There was a place right across the street from it that was lower end but had some cute girls, not sure if it's still open.

Tried some of the street / hotel girls around Santa Fe last time. Service was pretty good, but I feel the danger level is a bit higher. The cost is a little lower at about 40 K COP for 20 min, but you wonder why these girls are working in these street hotels instead of the main clubs. But there are definitely some cute girls around.

Will be staying in Ibis hotel for the first time and then might try San Francisco hotel. I've tried Bh Bicentario in Caldeleria area which is very nice but make sure to book a double occupancy room if you plan to bring back company. Hotel Regina was pretty run down and not recommended if you are bringing company back. Casa Dann Carlton hotel and spa in the north is very nice but pricey, very easy to bring girls there, it's close to Lidos. I would stay away from the Viaggio Virrey hotels. OK so here is a report and experience that I had about 5 days ago. I headed to the forty-nine club late at night. There were mostly 7's and a few 8's who were all busy of course. I asked an 8 how much for her service and she said its 240 k and the club makes it mandatory to buy a bottle or media which costs 140 k. I said I'll come back later. I then went to the club next door which is less fancy and you can tell. I went around the room and didn't see much until I saw this girl who had a 10 face and petite body sitting with her 2 friends. Probably the most beautiful worker I ever met with an amazing smile! I asked her if she did a show or servicio and she said she didn't, we then chatted, laughed and talked for about 10 minutes about ourselves. She (20 years old) usually works at primero de Mayo clubs and she accompanies people who buy drinks (that's how she makes money). She said that she didn't really go upstairs (rooms of sex service) with people she didn't know. She and her friends were working in that club just that day to check it out. She asked me to dance and we did for about 10 minutes. The song finished, so she then went back and sat with her 2 friends. I didn't really know what to do because I certainly didn't want to buy a bottle so I went to her and said that I'll be back (club closes at 5). I went back to the 49 club and came back in 15-20 minutes. I looked for her and couldn't find her, I saw her friend by herself sitting down so I asked her where her friend is and she replied "she's upstairs"(which I'm sure means upstairs with another guy) I asked her friend how much is it to go upstairs and she said 150 k. I got mad and I left to the 49 club again LOL I came back half an hour later and saw her sitting with a man, she looked at me and smiled so I went to use the bathroom upstairs and another chica was calling my phone so I also talked in there for about 10 minutes because music was too loud to hear in the club. Upstairs there are rooms and a dance floor with more tables. When I got out, I saw her standing outside the bathroom surely waiting / looking for me. When I got out, we made eye contact and I smiled, she smiled but I left (I Remembered she went "upstairs" I left to 49 club again and decided to come back and get her number for another day and when I came back she was sitting drinking with a man (don't know if it was the same one). It was 3:20 am, so I left for my hotel. I'm sure if I asked her for Servicio after we danced, she would have done it. But moral of the story guys is "El que se enamora pierde" which is a famous phrase in Latin America which translates to "The one who falls in love, loses".
