I had to pleasure to be in Korat (Nakon Ratchisima) Thailand (45 min plane ride or 3 hour bus ride from Bangkok) with some buddies for business and pleasure and stayed at the Sima Thani Hotel. http://www.simathani.com Very nice hotel with all the luxuries and you can get a room for as low as $40 or 1600 baht a night. For food we usually ate at the hotel or went out to the American places there (Pizza Hut, KFC, etc.) most of them near Klang Plaza, which is Korat’s mall and is considered to be downtown. Was too scared to try out the vendors on the street who sell noodles and stuff, we’ve heard of some nasty “runs” cases so we stayed away. Korat as many other cities in Thailand is easy to get around. Fortunately for us we had the Tuk-Tuk (took-took) drivers in front of the hotel that were willing to take us anywhere. Tuk-Tuk’s are motorcycles that been modified with passenger sets in the back, but be careful these guys tend to drive really fast and against traffic and make some crazy turns. Korat is infamous for the Fish-Bowl establishments where ladies hangout behind a glass wall where customers get to pick them by number for a nice massage and extras. We tried many fishbowls around town, unfortunately, I did not make a copy of the map that had all the fish-bowls labeled on the map with little bathtub signs. But if you ask a tuk-tuk driver, they can take you to any of them. Again, there are a lot of fish-bowl establishments around Klang Plaza. I remember going to one right across the street from Klang Plaza but it wasn’t all that good. My favorite place just happened to be across the Main road from the Sima Thani Hotel. We could’ve had easy walked all the way down the corner to cross the main road on the bridge, but we were stupid enough to run across the main road which is very dangerous. Anyway, once you cross the main road from the Sima Thani, the place is located on that corner on the second floor. I believe there is a sign on the first floor that says Chili Bowl. When we walked in the place it looked like a huge restaurant, in fact we thought it was one until we saw the fish-bowl ladies. You sit down and order a drink or two with the waiter and check out the girls who have numbers on their tops. Once you have decided which one you like, you take tell the waiter to bring her over for a drink. In my situation, I picked this beautiful girl with a nice rack and was probably 20 years old and a 9 in my book. We negotiated to 60 dollars or 2400 baht for a nice massage and FS. She took me to a room upstairs that had a nice Jacuzzi style bathtub where she bathed me down and also wash herself. I appreciate the details in your report, but I know from experience that a lot of people find it very difficult to read a report that is written as one long block of text. It's kind of like trying to eat an entire steak in one bite.

I know how this happens: You're banging away at the keyboard, putting your thoughts into the report as fast as you can write them. However, if you could hit the return key every few sentences while you're writing, and thus break your report into smaller paragraphs, your report would be much easier to read, which would certainly be appreciated by your fellow Forum Members.

I not sure what problems you have with this website.

I and all my friends all use the websites for buying tickets. And now Thai people know about it too. You can check the rates just enter your travel dates and the rate will pop up. Then if you want to reserve just follow the instruction. This is a very very reliable company, 49% owned by Thaksin. I do not know anyone has problem with this system. If you have question, why don't you call them. They have office in Bangkok too. 02-515-9999. This airline make my short hunting trips very affordable.

Something very strange happened with the airasia company. I emailed them to ask a few questions and I got an email sent back from the company. However, they didn't answer ANY of my questions, and the email address that was sent to me was my own address! So, apparently there is no way to contact the company?

How many days in advance do you need to purchase your ticket to get the good fares? I thought the web site said about 7 days.

Are you willing to give your full personal recommendation for this company? I'm a little bit worried about giving my credit card info. after the email experience. Everything I read on the web site seems too good to be true.

Only a 30 min flight. I took this 9 baht flight 3 times already this year on Air Asia for 1-2 day monger in Korat. Check out airasia.com.

To get to Korat, go to Mo Chit skytrain station and take a 157 bus/taxi to New Mo Chit. There you get the buses to Isaan, Korat included. The statue in the photo is beside the park where the cheap hookers are to be found. The soapies are past the shopping mall which is near the statue. The staue is Korat's most famous landmark.
